Chapter 200: Be My Guest

Chapter 200: 200: Be My Guest

Eden’s eyes met Marquis Dean’s as the man walked into the room. Behind him were several guards, and at the back stood other Marquises as well.

Eden smiled as his gaze locked with Marquis Dean, who clearly began to recognize who he was.

Marquis Dean paused and looked back at Adrian, who was still alive—standing. Then he turned his stare to Eden, who stood protectively in front of Adrian.

The other Marquises behind them were already shocked to see Eden. They recognized the wizard of El, and the sight of him left them speechless.

They had never expected to see him here. Not at all.

"And who do we have here...?" Marquis Dean stared at Eden. "I can’t believe we have a very important visitor in the person of the infamous wizard of El."

Marquis Dean smiled as he added, "I didn’t know you were visiting, or I’d have thrown a bigger party."

Eden smiled back. "No need for that. I don’t dine with snakes, apparently."

Their eyes met as Marquis Dean forced a thin smile. "I should have known something was wrong when that one dancer was being unprofessional. I should have realized it was some sort of trick. It was my mistake not to take your head back then. But then again, well played."

Eden shrugged. "You should also know that I wouldn’t just let you have my head like that. The moment you tried would have been the moment you met your ancestors."

Marquis Dean scoffed as he turned his gaze to Adrian. "It’s interesting that you actually came to save him. Or am I imagining things? Because the last time I heard, you were extremely close to the crown princes. And now him? I wonder what charm he has—or what plots you’re scheming."

"Are you that curious to know?" Eden raised an eyebrow. "Too bad I can’t explain in a language you’d understand. Because I can’t speak dog language."

Marquis Dean clenched his fists. It was obvious he wanted Eden dead right then, but he held himself back as he turned his attention to Adrian.

"I don’t know if I should say you’re lucky to have the wizard of El saving you," he said. "Because you should have been dead by now. But here you are... how annoying and stressful indeed."

Marquis Dean tilted his head. "And since you already know everything, I suppose I shouldn’t keep playing my part. I should be taking your head."

Adrian cast a cold glare. "How disrespectful and treacherous of you to try killing your superior like this. Aren’t you afraid of the punishment of the Imperial Court?"

Marquis Dean laughed mockingly. "And why would I be afraid of that? If I were, I wouldn’t even have pulled this off."

He smiled as he paced around the room, his hands behind his back. "Don’t you think it’s absurd? I’m older than you. Probably more experienced. But because of some silly merits at a young age, you became the Grand Marquis while I’m expected to serve under you? Don’t you think that’s pathetic?"

He scoffed and continued, "For years, I’ve been calmly plotting, looking for information to take you down. And finally, here it is. I found a way to bring you down."

He stared directly at Adrian. "You’re already dying. You’re sick and will be dead soon. So why bother holding onto your position? Isn’t that greed? You should just die in peace and hand it over to me. But no... you want it the hard way. And that’s what I’ll give you."

Eeden rolled his eyes. "The drama. You didn’t get it, and he doesn’t want to give it to you. Can’t you just accept that and be satisfied? You’re the greedy one."

Marquis Dean glared at him. "What do you know? You might be the wizard, but you’re just as ignorant as everyone else. I’m the one who deserves it all. And he stole it from me."

Now Marquis Dean turned back to Adrian, his expression murderous. "My only task is to take it back, no matter what. And I must make sure I end you today to take it." He pulled out his sword as the guards did the same, their weapons flashing in the light.

They were all ready to attack.

Eden blinked, standing firmly in front of Adrian as he smiled. "Well, you’ll have to get past me before you even think of laying a hand on him."

He cracked his fingers and neck, then raised his palms to cast a spell.

All eyes were on him now. The guards and Marquises were tense, watching to see what the wizard of El was about to unleash.

Adrian stared from behind as well.

Eden began casting his spell, but he didn’t see or feel anything—no purple dust, no energy. He just felt empty.

He blinked and muttered to himself, "What’s this? What’s happening? Why isn’t anything coming out?"

Lenny’s voice echoed in his mind. "Isn’t it obvious? You used up your powers healing Adrian last night, and now you have nothing."

Eden blinked, speechless. No wonder he had felt so tired after waking up this morning. It was exactly the same as when he healed Elvis.

Everyone still had their eyes on Eden, curious to see what he had up his sleeve. But Eden bit his lower lip as he looked up at Marquis Dean.

Then he smiled. "You know what? I’ll just be cheering on from the side."

He instantly turned and ran toward Adrian. Standing behind him, he placed his hands on Adrian’s waist. "You go and do the fight. I trust your skills."

Adrian stared at him, then down at Eden’s hands on his waist. He didn’t need to say a word before Eden quickly pulled his hands away.

"Now fight."

Adrian sighed and turned toward Marquis Dean and his team of guards, who were already standing, ready for an attack.

Without thinking twice, Adrian raised the sword Eden had given him, positioning it firmly as he prepared for battle.
