Chapter 395: Sweet Apartment

Chapter 395: Chapter 395: Sweet Apartment

Ariana Grant gave a thumbs up.

"No wonder you’re an international film actor. You have talent and skills, and you work harder than most people. Who could compete with you?"

Owen Sinclair laughed heartily and said, "Come on, see what you want to eat."

At this point, Ashley Shaw and Ariana Grant didn’t hold back anymore.

Ariana likes seafood, while Ashley doesn’t. Both of them said what they wanted to eat, and Owen went to the supermarket’s fresh food section to pick out ingredients, naturally followed by the two buying along with him.

Ashley could tell that Owen really knew how to cook just by watching him choose ingredients.

After buying the groceries, Ashley rushed to pay, but the assistant got there first and paid.

The four of them bought a ton of ingredients, snacks, and drinks, spending a good hour or two at the supermarket.

The four of them headed to the parking lot together.

After putting the items in the trunk, Owen said, "Since we ran into each other, let’s go together?"

Ashley and Ariana, having nothing to do, and since they were going to Owen’s place for dinner, didn’t need to specially change into the new clothes they just bought, so they agreed.

"I have two dogs at home. You’re not afraid of dogs, right? If you are, I can have the servants lock them up."

Both waved their hands simultaneously, "Not afraid!"

Not only are they not afraid, but they both actually love dogs.

Owen was relieved.

As they were about to drive home directly, the assistant reminded, "Owen, don’t forget we have to meet three girls."

Ashley asked in surprise, "Are there other guests besides us?"

"No," Owen explained, "It’s just you. The three girls are the ones I’m auditioning."

After Owen explained, they found out that Owen plans to transition to working behind the scenes in the next two years, setting up his own entertainment company and becoming a boss, while nurturing new talent.

Once these newcomers are on their feet, he’ll completely "retire."

Upon hearing this, Ashley said, "Will the two of us be a bother? Maybe you should take us back to the hotel first, and come get us after you finish your business?"

Owen waved it off, saying it wasn’t necessary.

"Meeting them will take about half an hour, and since you two are young, you know what young people’s tastes are. You can help me with that."

With these words, Ariana’s eyes lit up visibly.

"Great, Actor Sinclair! I’m not bragging, but I really have a knack for this."

"Oh?"

Ashley, nearby, clarified, "She mentioned to me before that she thought a few good-looking artists would become famous, and they did. Even in the e-sports scene. When e-sports first became popular, she said the Stardust Team was bound to rise, and sure enough, they did."

Owen’s smile could be seen beneath his mask.

"That’s perfect. Both of you can help me out with your opinions. Actually, I met seven or eight candidates yesterday and only found one that might do. I hope among today’s three, there’s one who stands out."

Ashley suddenly asked, "How many do you plan to sign?"

"Originally planned to sign several, but now it seems hard to even find three."

Owen paused, then said, "Actually, I know a scriptwriter who just wrote a new script, which I think is pretty good. If there are good talents, I can use them for the movie."

Initially, he thought he’d sign more people this time and include them in this movie because the theme requires many lead roles.

But didn’t expect those selected by The Film Academy this year to be so subpar.

If it’s not obvious signs of plastic surgery, then there’s no acting talent at all.

"Wow!" Ariana exclaimed, "Does that mean once they sign with you, they can become famous?"

Owen laughed, "That depends on how the movie turns out."

Ariana, being quite the entertainment circle enthusiast, immediately asked what the script was about.

This should typically be kept under wraps for now, but Owen was an open book.

Ashley, listening by the side, vaguely found the plot familiar.

She couldn’t help but ask, "What’s the script called? Can you tell us?"

Owen would never hide something from Ashley — he’d even casually give her his bank card password.

So he divulged without hesitation, "The script is called ’Sweet Apartment.’"

Ariana, beside him, asked in shock, "Isn’t it a post-apocalyptic movie? How come it has such a name?"

"Yes, it’s meant to be ironic."

But at once, Ashley remembered this film.

In the previous life, the film hadn’t its script name changed; it was just called ’Sweet Apartment.’

When it first hit cinemas, the reception was lukewarm since themes like this were rare domestically, and when they were done, usually quite poorly, so audiences typically didn’t opt for such movies.

Who knew in the late run, it climbed to success through word of mouth, and the box office rocketed to thirty billion.

Owen even won an Oscar for it.

But the drawback was, after the film’s success, a female supporting role got embroiled in a series of scandals.

She couldn’t recall what the scandal was or even what that actress’s name was, thanks to her lack of interest in the entertainment scene.

Anyway, it was because of her that the movie’s later promotions got restricted, preventing continued screenings.

Otherwise, the box office could have breached fifty billion.

And according to Owen, he plans to bring the newly signed actors for the ’Sweet Apartment’ film...

If she could help Owen avoid picking that particular supporting actress beforehand, maybe the box office could reach fifty billion?

With this thought, Ashley immediately racked her brain to recall the name and looks of that supporting actress.

But regrettably, due to her disinterest, she just couldn’t remember.

Oh well, maybe she’d remember upon meeting them?

Just then, her phone rang suddenly.

Ashley glanced at the caller ID, and her face instantly turned sour.

It was Lars Prescott calling.

Calling once yesterday with some insincere words could be overlooked, but what’s with contacting her again today?

Ashley didn’t want Owen to see her conversing with Lars, so she directly declined the call and turned off her phone.

Owen couldn’t help but glance back at her from the passenger seat.

"Who was it that called? Why not answer?"

Ashley’s smile didn’t show the slightest hint of her emotions as she calmly replied, "Spam call."

She continued with, "I don’t know why, but ever since arriving in Aethelgard, spam calls have increased."

"Maybe it’s because you switched areas, and some source here leaked your info," Owen suggested, then shifted the topic, "or perhaps it’s because you suddenly have money, and the bank sold you out."

Owen said this to gauge if Ashley was struggling financially. If she was in a tough spot, he’d figure a way to get her some money.

For instance, having a few people pretend to run a lottery and let Ashley win a million or something.

Unexpectedly, Ariana jumped in, "Hey! That’s actually amazing! Ashley’s quite loaded now! The money she has now, with a bit more, could put a down payment on a house in the outskirts of Aethelgard."

Owen felt relieved, his face calm, saying, "So rich? Had I known, today’s bill would’ve been yours."

Ashley was somewhat distracted and replied, "It’s not as exaggerated as she’s making it sound. It was just a windfall I got."
