Chapter 79: Kidnapping

Chapter 79: Chapter 79: Kidnapping

Ashley Shaw watched Ariana Grant go in and casually asked the nurse.

"How long will it take?"

"About fifteen to twenty minutes, but this patient is special. Dr. Tate has instructed us to be more thorough in certain areas, so it will take ten more minutes than for other patients."

"Okay, thank you."

"Family members can wait outside. I’ll call you when the patient comes out."

"Alright."

Ashley Shaw nodded and walked away.

It would take about twenty to thirty minutes, just enough time for her to buy breakfast for Ariana.

Thinking this, Ashley Shaw left the gastroenterology department.

However, just then, someone suddenly grabbed her hand.

Ashley Shaw turned her head in surprise and saw Maeve’s pale face.

Ashley was startled.

"You..."

Maeve weakly said, "It’s really you. I thought I was mistaken."

Ashley pulled her hand back and calmly asked, "What do you want?"

Last time, she had transferred some money to Maeve, so she owed her nothing now.

But Maeve suddenly staggered to the side.

Ashley quickly supported her.

"Are you okay?"

Maeve shook her head, "I’m fine. I’ve seen the doctor, but I still feel very uncomfortable... Can you help me to the hospital entrance? My boyfriend is driving over, but I don’t have the strength to go downstairs."

"You can call him to pick you up here. There are many waiting chairs here. You can sit here and wait for him," Ashley pointed in the direction of the waiting chairs.

Maeve gave a bitter smile and said, "To be honest, I’m here for an abortion today. He’s married and won’t come to such a crowded place for fear of running into someone he knows, so he’ll only wait in the car."

"..." Ashley’s expression turned cold. As someone who had been cheated on, she could have no sympathy for mistresses.

"I know my attitude towards you was bad before. But I’ve thought it through. You’ve already compensated me, so why should I be against you?"

"What exactly do you want to say?"

"I just want to apologize for my previous attitude. I’m sorry."

Ashley was silent for a second and then said, "It’s fine. I didn’t take it to heart. You don’t need to apologize."

"Then can you help me to the hospital entrance?"

Ashley studied Maeve carefully. Seeing that she was indeed pale as a sheet and that her request was not excessive, coupled with the fact that she was going out to buy breakfast anyway, she nodded and agreed.

"Fine, I’ll help you to the entrance. But if you see me again in the future, please pretend you don’t know me. I don’t like talking to mistresses."

A flash of annoyance passed through Maeve’s eyes, but she quickly calmed down.

Doesn’t like mistresses, huh?

Heh, what a coincidence. You’ll soon become a mistress too, replacing me as Damon’s mistress.

Thinking this, Maeve felt even better and showed a grateful smile.

"Thank you. I’ll pretend not to know you when I see you again."

Only then did Ashley support Maeve again and lead her slowly to the staircase.

Maeve walked slowly, timing it to coincide with when Damon would arrive at the entrance.

Ashley glanced at her phone, feeling compelled to urge her on, "Can you walk a little faster?"

She was starting to get impatient.

Not that she was impatient by nature, but Ariana was still inside, and she feared she wouldn’t make it back in time when Ariana came out.

And now there were only ten minutes left before Ariana’s check-up was supposed to end.

It looked like she wouldn’t be able to buy breakfast and needed to get back to the gastroenterology department quickly.

Maeve was anxious too.

It wasn’t that she didn’t want to move faster; it was because Damon hadn’t arrived yet.

But as if Damon heard her thoughts, the phone suddenly vibrated.

Maeve picked up her phone and saw that Damon’s car had arrived at the hospital entrance.

She quickly put on a smiling face and said, "Okay, okay, I’ll try to walk faster. You need to support me better."

Ashley frowned and strengthened her grip on Maeve.

It was a relief to finally reach the hospital entrance. As she was about to let go and leave, Maeve stopped her.

"Hey, wait."

"What else do you need?"

"Help me into the car. I feel more comfortable lying in the back seat."

"Isn’t your married partner in the car?"

"He doesn’t dare to get out."

Ashley just wanted to resolve things quickly, so she didn’t bother with more words, stepping forward to open the car door for Maeve.

But in the next second, someone suddenly shoved her forcefully from behind, sending her sprawling into the back seat.

"Ah—"

Ashley let out a muffled groan and was about to scold Maeve for her madness, but Maeve pushed her leg further inside and sat in.

"Click."

The sound of the car’s locks.

Ashley immediately sensed something was wrong and reached for the car door, but it was already locked, and the car started driving onto the road.

Maeve somehow produced a silver handcuff and quickly cuffed Ashley to the car door’s handle as she frantically tried to open it.

Her movements were adept, as if she had used handcuffs many times, like a veteran detective.

But clearly, she wasn’t a detective; she was just familiar because of Damon’s particular tastes.

Everything happened in an instant, and Ashley’s struggles were in vain.

Her wrists were reddening from the cuffs.

"Don’t waste your strength. These cuffs are special, very sturdy," Maeve said leisurely, "Just behave, to avoid more trouble."

Ashley’s struggles were fruitless, so she simply stared Maeve down.

"Are you crazy? What do you want to do?! I’m telling you, this is kidnapping! The hospital entrance is loaded with CCTV. The police will track you down easily!"

Hearing the word "police," the driver, Damon Crawford, got nervous.

"Maeve, we’re not going to get into trouble, right?"

He just wanted a new, pretty woman to sleep with, not a legal mess.

If he got into legal trouble and his wife found out, she’d eat him alive!

But Maeve showed no fear, smiling broadly, "Look at you, getting scared by a girl with just a few words."

"I’m not scared! If the police catch us, we’re done for!"

Maeve fiddled with her freshly done nails, calmly saying, "Relax, I wouldn’t do this unless I was sure. I’ve already checked; this little girl is an orphan who was lucky enough to be adopted by someone rich."

"But she moved out on her own. Her adoptive family won’t even notice she’s missing."

"And her friend is still in the hospital, undergoing a fully anesthetized endoscopy and won’t wake up anytime soon."

"Also, a girl her age won’t dare report to the police once you’ve slept with her. She’ll be meekly following you. Just wait and enjoy!"
