Chapter 83: Chapter 83: Don’t Play Too Rough
Ashley Shaw clearly saw the veins bulging on Warren Prescott’s forehead.
She could tell he was really blaming himself.
She shouldn’t have told the truth earlier, she should have just said she didn’t know that woman.
"You really don’t have to be like this... Who could have expected such a thing? At that time, you were just trying to make things easier for me. I should thank you."
"Mm."
Warren Prescott’s voice was hoarse.
"Don’t worry, I won’t let those two get away with it."
Ashley Shaw nodded lightly, "Okay."
She suddenly remembered something else and said, "Can those two still go home?"
"Why?"
"I heard before that the woman seems to have a dog at home, and she’s the only one at home. If she can’t go back, what about the dog?"
Warren Prescott felt a bit helpless.
"They kidnapped you, and you’re worried about her dog? With an owner like that, what kind of good dog could it be? Besides, what she says might not even be true."
"But what if..."
Ashley Shaw loved small animals. Before coming to Westcroft, back in the countryside, she had two dogs and a cat.
But later, being a guest under someone’s roof, she naturally didn’t have the chance to keep small animals anymore.
Warren Prescott sighed.
"Fine, I’ll help you check. If there’s really a dog, I’ll find someone to adopt it for you."
"Thank you..."
Warren Prescott felt complicated, a bitter taste in his throat.
She even cared about a dog whose existence was uncertain. Such a good person, and yet he believed Rosalind Lynch’s words, thinking she was a woman beyond redemption.
He was truly blind!
No one in this world is as foolish and blind as he is.
He should apply for a Level 1 blindness certificate, he’s worse off than a real blind person.
Soon, the two arrived at the hospital.
By this time, Ashley Shaw had completely calmed down and could walk on her own.
Seeing her get out of the car by herself, Warren Prescott’s eyes showed a trace of regret.
He couldn’t give her a piggyback ride anymore.
He locked the car and quickly caught up.
"Ariana Grant has someone with her. You don’t need to be too anxious."
"Mm, I know, thank you."
"You don’t need... to keep thanking me."
Ashley Shaw pulled at the corners of her mouth and walked into the hospital entrance.
Warren Prescott quickly followed, reminding her, "Don’t rush to your friend. First, take care of your hand injury, it’s still bleeding."
"This little injury is nothing."
Warren Prescott frowned, just about to drag her over directly, but then thought of something and said, "Aren’t you worried your friend will see you like this?"
Ashley Shaw’s pace slightly slowed.
Warren Prescott thus gauged Ariana Grant’s importance to Ashley Shaw: very important.
He silently noted it down and took Ashley Shaw to the emergency room for wound treatment.
The injury on her wrist was more serious than Ashley Shaw had thought.
"It’s close to hitting the bone; remember to apply the medicine on time when you go back. This medicine’s effectiveness is good, but don’t let the wound touch water for two days."
The doctor, unfamiliar with Warren Prescott, said this and then glanced disapprovingly at him.
"Young people like you can have fun, I can’t interfere, but let me remind you, her skin is delicate. If it happens again, it might really hit the bone. Keep it in check!"
"Okay, I understand. Thank you, doctor. I’ll be careful next time."
As Warren Prescott spoke, he looked at Ashley Shaw, "Let’s go."
Ashley Shaw nodded and as they left the emergency room, realized what the doctor meant.
The doctor misunderstood them for using handcuffs to play some kinky SM game.
Ashley Shaw’s face instantly turned red.
"Why didn’t you explain?"
"Anyway, we don’t know him, let him think what he wants. Besides, weren’t you anxious to see your friend? Explaining would take time."
Warren Prescott answered with a straightforward expression, showing no hint of his amusement inside.
Thinking of Ariana Grant, Ashley Shaw quickly forgot the earlier incident and sped towards the elevator.
When they reached the gastroscopy waiting room, Ashley Shaw was surprised to find Grandpa Prescott was also there.
Ariana Grant was still in a half-asleep state, her eyelids heavy as they scanned over in her direction.
Beside Ariana Grant’s hospital bed stood a middle-aged man in a white coat.
Ashley Shaw sharply noticed that the other person’s badge read "Dean."
"You’re here?" Grandpa Prescott greeted with a smile, "I heard your friend’s name, and I guessed that the one with her would be you, and I was right."
Ashley Shaw sincerely thanked him.
"Thank you for taking care of my friend."
"You’re being too polite now. Where did you and Warren go just now? You both seemed very anxious."
Warren Prescott timely changed the subject.
"Grandpa, did you finish your check-up?"
"Yes, I’m done."
"How was it?"
"Everything’s fine, just need to keep taking the anti-rejection meds."
Elder Prescott’s eyes reddened again as he spoke to Ashley Shaw, "It’s all thanks to your mother. Without her, I wouldn’t have made it today."
Ashley Shaw smiled slightly, "If Mom knew she could still save someone after she was gone, and that it was you, she’d be very gratified."
Elder Prescott patted Ashley Shaw’s shoulder, glanced back at Ariana Grant, and asked, "What’s your friend’s situation? Need me to find a good doctor for you?"
"No need, we’ve already got Dr. Jane Tate."
"Oh... Jane, huh? She’s indeed quite capable. With her around, you and your friend can be at ease."
The dean also stepped forward at this time to offer his support.
"If you need anything in the future, feel free to come to my office."
Ashley Shaw quickly thanked him, "Thank you very much."
Warren Prescott saw Ashley Shaw feeling obviously embarrassed, and Ariana Grant looked uncomfortable, so he promptly sent both away.
"Grandpa, you’ve had so many check-ups. You must be tired. Let me take you back, otherwise, you’ll hit the morning rush."
"Alright, Ashley, I am a bit tired. I’ll head back first, call me anytime if you need anything."
"Okay, please go and rest."
Watching the three leave, Ashley Shaw quickly went to Ariana Grant’s side.
"Ariana, are you feeling more awake now?"
Ariana Grant nodded.
"Just feel a bit nauseous... but it’s okay. By the way, where did you go just now? Why did Grandpa Prescott look after me for you?"
Ashley Shaw had already prepared her excuse on the way up.
"While waiting for you, I saw a broken door in the hospital. I went over to help open it and accidentally got pinched by the door. I went to handle the wound just now."
There was no way to hide the injury on her hand, so she had no choice but to use this excuse.
Compared to being kidnapped, getting pinched by a door was a much better story.
Upon hearing this, Ariana Grant immediately became concerned.
"Where did you get hurt? Let me see!"
Ashley Shaw obediently extended her hand.
The wound, after treatment, didn’t look like the injury caused by the bracelet, but rather resembled a door pinch.
Ariana Grant indeed did not suspect a thing.
"You, why do you have to show off? There are so many people in the hospital, why did you go? They could handle it themselves."
Ashley Shaw raised her hand in surrender.
"I know I was wrong, I won’t do it again."
"I think you’re guilty but never change."
"I’ll change, I promise."
Ariana Grant was about to say more when the examining doctor walked in.
