Chapter 190: Dangerous Sibling Relationship

Chapter 190: Chapter 190: Dangerous Sibling Relationship

Warren Prescott’s favor is worth more than gold!

But after Warren said, "I owe you one," Damian Ford finally got it.

Warren is interested in Miss Shaw!

But aren’t they siblings?

Could this be the legendary dangerous sibling relationship?

Damian quickly smacked both sides of his face hard.

He’s really floating. Even with ten times the courage, he can’t afford to gossip about Warren behind his back.

No matter what their relationship is, Ashley Shaw is someone he can’t afford to provoke again.

This time he was lucky to patch things up, thanks to his ancestors’ blessings. But next time, who knows if they’ll be so kind?

...

Upstairs.

Ashley Shaw pushed open the door and immediately smelled the aroma of food mixed with a faint bloody scent.

She hadn’t felt well on the car ride over, and now the smell hit her like a wave of nausea.

"Ugh—"

"Ashley, are you okay?" Ariana Grant looked at her face and said, "You look terrible. I’ll get you a drink. I think there’s still a bottle of cola in the room."

Ashley nodded.

A carbonated drink might actually help right now.

When Warren Prescott got upstairs, he saw Ashley Shaw gulping down a bottle of cola.

He thought it was strange and then smelled the odor wafting through the room.

After a brief pause, he made a call.

"Send a few cleaners over, and make it quick."

Ashley looked over when she heard him and was about to say it wasn’t necessary, but then remembered what Ariana had said to her before getting out of the car.

She swallowed back her words along with the cola.

Forget it, Warren’s already involved. What’s one more thing?

"The cleaning crew is on their way. Once the police take a look, they can start tidying up right away."

Ariana thanked him repeatedly.

"I’ll cover the cleaning fee."

"It’s not a big deal."

"Alright, then. Next time you come over for dinner, I’ll prepare a few more dishes for you."

Warren said nothing, but his dark eyes seemed to express satisfaction.

Ashley was puzzled.

Are a few dishes that important to Warren?

Or does he just dislike people refusing his goodwill?

But Ashley quickly realized she was speculating about Warren’s thoughts again, something she had repeatedly told herself to stop doing. Yet, she often couldn’t control it.

Looks like she should invite him to dinner sooner rather than later.

The sooner she settles it, the sooner she can draw a line under it and move on.

Just then, Warren’s voice sounded.

"Are you okay?"

Ashley, caught off guard, looked over and realized Warren was asking about her.

"I’m fine," she quickly replied. "I just felt nauseated from the smell earlier, but I’m better after drinking some cola."

"You can’t handle a bit of a bloody smell and you chose a medical major? Once you get to Aethelgard University, maybe apply to switch majors in your second year. I worry you’ll feel sick in class every day."

Ashley suddenly felt a little guilty.

She wasn’t planning to go to Aethelgard University.

Ariana, standing nearby, also felt guilty because she was aware but hadn’t disclosed.

"It’s not that I can’t handle the bloody smell. I just felt a bit car sick on the way here, that’s all. I’m fine now."

Changing the subject, Ashley said, "We don’t know when the police will arrive, and the house is such a mess. It’s really not suitable to invite you in. How about we wait at the café by the entrance? We can also see when the police arrive."

When Warren first heard Ashley say she didn’t know when the police would come, he thought she was hinting for him to leave again.

A fireball of irritation smoldered in his chest.

But before his face betrayed it, he heard her say they could wait at the café.

His expression softened, and he said, "I’m fine with anything. I can wait in the car, too."

The car had everything, with a small fridge inside, stocked with drinks - red, white, carbonated, milky, all sorts.

"Let’s go to the café. On me."

Then Ashley suddenly remembered the incident at the KTV three days ago and choked up.

Warren knew what she was thinking.

"Let’s go then."

Just as they were about to go downstairs, the sound of a police car came from below.

"Bad timing," Ashley said. "Next time, then."

But Warren clearly saw a sort of relief in Ashley’s eyes.

It’s just a café drink—why does it seem so hard for her?

Couldn’t she give him a chance to make amends for past issues?

Warren felt something stuck in his throat, intensely irritable yet unable to vent.

But Warren chose to hold it in.

He knew that if he lost his temper, the relationship between them would instantly return to freezing point.

The police soon arrived.

The commotion brought the neighbors out to watch the spectacle.

Many had received imported fruits from Ashley before and came to inquire about the situation.

Upon learning it was just a family quarrel, everyone dispersed back to their homes.

In the room, several officers were taking photos and gathering evidence, led by a squad leader who greeted Warren with a smile, clearly recognizing him.

Ashley overheard the squad leader saying, "Thanks for your help with that incident at the Japanese restaurant last time, Mr. Prescott. We were able to resolve it quickly because of you."

"What about him?"

"Deported back home, but he’ll serve time in prison there. Don’t worry, he won’t escape the law’s reach."

"Hmm."

Then silence.

The squad leader wanted to make more small talk, but Warren didn’t even glance his way, leaving him awkwardly waiting until the evidence collection was done.

Catching sight of Ashley and the others, the squad leader rolled his eyes around thoughtfully, asking Warren, "And who are these two...?"

"Friends."

"Oh, oh." The squad leader wanted to dig deeper and find out which one was closer to Warren, but neither of the two girls spoke with him, leaving him unsure of whom to approach.

The more beautiful and slender one didn’t even glance in this direction, leaving him unable to decide.

Finally, the squad leader fixed his gaze on Ariana Grant, who had visible injuries, and stepped forward to inquire further.

The questioning was so detailed it made Ariana quite nervous.

Fortunately, the evidence collection wrapped up quickly, and Ariana’s verbal inquiry was concluded.

"Young Master Prescott, we’ll be leaving now. The scene here can be restored to normal."

"Alright."

Warren finally focused on the squad leader, saying, "The one who did it is her biological mother. If you want to pursue legal action, you may need to work harder."

The squad leader nodded repeatedly, "Of course, your matters will be handled with priority. We guarantee the task will be completed."

"Thank you."

"It’s my duty. I’ll take my leave then."

With that, the squad leader waved at Ariana and Ashley before leaving.
