Chapter 154: Chapter 154: So What If She’s the Eldest Miss?
On the other side.
After Ashley Shaw and Ariana Grant left, Mrs. Lowell went in to persuade Hailey Hayes, while Mr. Lowell stayed in the living room to console Kevin Hayes.
Finally managing to convince the parents, Hailey was willing to come out of the room.
However, none of them felt much like celebrating a birthday anymore, so Mr. and Mrs. Lowell hastily ate a few bites before getting up to say goodbye.
Just as Mark was about to leave, an unfamiliar number suddenly called his work phone.
Mark let his parents leave first and walked to the balcony to answer the call.
Thinking it was work-related, but once the call was connected, it was Damian Ford on the other end.
"Assistant Lowell, I need your help with something."
"What can I, a mere assistant, do for Young Master Ford? You flatter me."
Mark was at the bar and personally heard Damian Ford make lewd jokes about Ashley Shaw, so his tone wasn’t polite, bordering on sarcasm.
Damian Ford didn’t have the best temper, but needing something from someone, he clearly had to follow Mark’s lead.
He forced a smile and said, "No flattery, Assistant Lowell. As long as you help me, the entire Lowell Family will remember your kindness."
Mark sneered inwardly.
The Lowell Family remembering his kindness? He had no interest in that.
He’s currently working with Mr. Prescott Jr., with a bright future ahead, what was the Lowell Family to him?
Moreover, he sticks to his principles and only works for Warren Prescott.
Now that Damian made jokes about Miss Shaw, it was like making jokes about Mr. Prescott Jr.
He gripped his phone and coldly asked, "What exactly do you want, Young Master Ford? I might not be able to help you."
"You can definitely help!"
Damian Ford said over the phone, "I just want to know where Miss Shaw is now. I know you must know where she is, right?"
Mark immediately frowned in suspicion.
"Why do you want to know where Miss Shaw is? Young Master Ford, let me remind you, although Miss Shaw is no longer the Prescott Family’s adopted daughter, Elder Prescott still treats her as his own granddaughter. If you dare do anything to her, Elder Prescott will not permit it."
"Misunderstanding, misunderstanding, I wouldn’t dare do anything to Miss Shaw. I just want to find her to apologize in person for what happened at the bar."
Mark contemplated the truthfulness of Damian Ford’s words and ultimately decided Damian didn’t have the guts.
"Apologizing is good, but sorry, I don’t know where Miss Shaw is right now."
"How could you not know? You sent her out the door. Assistant Lowell, please, just think of it as Damian Ford begging you, I’ll always owe you this favor."
Mark heard the plea in Damian Ford’s words and couldn’t help but soften a bit.
He sighed and said, "It’s not that I don’t want to help you. To tell you the truth, Miss Shaw was just with me not long ago, but she’s already left. I’m guessing... she’s gone home."
"She’s not home." Damian Ford said assertively, "I was just at her door two minutes ago, and there’s no one inside. I asked the security guard, who said she went out."
"Well, sorry then, I really don’t know where she is now."
"Where are you now?"
"Southgate."
"Give me a specific address, I’ll come find you now."
Mark turned to check the living room, seeing Kevin Hayes wondering and staring at him, suddenly remembering Kevin works as a clerk at the Ford Group.
Since his uncle works at the Ford Group, letting Damian Ford come over is no problem.
Mark thought for two seconds, gave Kevin Hayes’ home address, and then said, "Young Master Ford, just letting you know, Miss Shaw has already left, she’s not here, even if you come over now you won’t see her."
"No problem, I’ll see you first. I’ll be there in twenty minutes. Wait for me."
Mark rubbed his temples and said, "Alright, come over then. I’ll wait for you."
"Thanks!"
After the call, Mark called his parents, asking them to leave first as he had something to handle.
After hanging up, he walked inside.
"Uncle, someone is coming later, they need to see me about something. I’ll stay here a bit longer."
Not wanting to make Kevin Hayes anxious, Mark didn’t reveal that the person coming was the future successor of his company.
Kevin Hayes immediately nodded, "Of course."
Hailey hesitated for two seconds before speaking, "Cousin, are you still mad at me?"
Mark said with disappointment, "Whether I’m mad is not important, what matters is whether Miss Shaw is mad. But when she left, I explained your immaturity and asked for her forgiveness, and she did forgive, so let’s consider this incident over. Going forward, pay more attention to your words and actions, don’t act like a child anymore, you’ll be a senior in high school next year, soon you’ll be an adult..."
Hailey’s expression grew more displeased as she listened.
This feeling of being overshadowed by Ashley Shaw was deeply uncomfortable.
The cousin she was proud of was bowing and scraping to Ariana Grant’s best friend, an emotionally shattering realization.
But just now, Mrs. Lowell told her that Ashley Shaw was the sister of the Prescott Group’s future heir, which meant even if she was upset, she had to endure it.
Though listening to her cousin say this, she suddenly thought, so what if Ashley Shaw is the young lady of the Prescott Group?
She doesn’t work for the Prescott Group.
Harshly speaking, losing her cousin’s job wouldn’t affect her at all.
Thinking this, Hailey impatiently stood up.
"I’m going to the bathroom."
"You..."
Mark noticed Hailey’s eyes lacked any remorse, furrowing his brows.
But before he could say anything, Hailey had already entered the bathroom.
He could only tell Kevin Hayes, "Uncle, you really need to intervene in Hailey’s personality. It might not matter now since she’s still studying, but in the future at work, this kind of personality will cause her trouble."
Kevin Hayes had been unhappy inside while Mark was continuously lecturing Hailey.
As Mark’s uncle, he had already scolded and hit his own daughter in Ashley Shaw’s presence to protect Mark’s job.
Now that the issue was clearly resolved, Mark was still harping on Hailey’s faults, which was hard for Kevin, who was so fond of his daughter, to tolerate.
He couldn’t help but sour his face and say, "Mark, I think Hailey’s personality is fine, and the issue has been resolved, there’s no need for you to keep criticizing your cousin."
Mark looked at Kevin Hayes in shock.
He couldn’t believe Kevin Hayes had no sense of remorse either.
He suddenly realized the reason behind Hailey’s current personality.
"Hailey is your daughter, Uncle, since you find no problem, then consider my words earlier to be nonsense."
Kevin Hayes’s eyebrows instantly furrowed.
