Chapter 128: You’re No Saint Either

Chapter 128: Chapter 128: You’re No Saint Either

Ashley Shaw watched the two bodyguards at the end of the corridor slowly walking towards her. She knew there was no escaping from them, so she stayed put to avoid unnecessary pain.

Jasmine Jacobs saw her standing obediently and didn’t bother with her anymore.

She stepped over in her high heels and squatted down in front of Damon Crawford, who was pinned to the ground.

"Damon Crawford, marrying me was like hitting the jackpot, yet you refuse to behave and insist on seeking death, right? Fine, I’ll grant your wish today!"

Damon Crawford widened his eyes in fear.

"W-what do you want to do?"

"What do I want to do? Of course, to protect the children’s image of their father and turn you into a dead man!"

Damon Crawford trembled all over.

But soon, he had a quick-witted idea: "Honey..."

"I told you not to call me honey! It disgusts me!"

"Alright, alright, I won’t call you that."

Damon Crawford swallowed his saliva and spoke quickly: "Jasmine, you don’t have to go this far, I know I have wronged you, I admit my mistakes. If you can’t forgive me, I agree to divorce, and I don’t want anything. J-just spare me, okay?"

"Just consider it begging you! If you kill me, you will have to deal with the police, it’s not like the old times anymore, murdering someone is bound to be investigated..."

"Why drag yourself down because of me?"

Jasmine Jacobs unveiled her signature cold smirk.

"Others might get investigated, but the Jacobs Family always operates seamlessly. Don’t worry, I won’t kill you here. I’ll find a good spot to fake your suicide."

Damon Crawford panicked.

After so many years of marriage, he couldn’t tell if Jasmine Jacobs was bluffing or speaking the truth.

Clearly, Jasmine Jacobs truly intended to kill him.

He trembled like a sieve and said hoarsely, "Jasmine! We’ve been married, why do this? I’m still the kids’ father, can’t you spare me?"

Jasmine Jacobs showed no emotion on her face and said, "You reminded me, only when you’re dead will the kids not investigate what kind of person their dad was, nor be curious to find you."

Damon Crawford turned pale as paper.

"I-I can go abroad, so they can’t find me even if they want to."

"Too late! You should’ve anticipated this outcome the moment you betrayed me!"

"Can’t you consider for the kids and let me go?"

"It’s precisely for the kids that I’m saying these words to you! I’m giving you one last minute to tell them whatever you want now! I’ll convey it as your suicide note!"

"No! No! I don’t want to die! Help! Help!!!"

Damon Crawford shouted madly.

But no one could hear.

Because he had booked the place himself, and there were no guests here.

The receptionist that should have been there was bribed with a thousand bucks to leave the hotel.

Jasmine Jacobs completely lost her patience.

"Looks like you have nothing to say to the kids."

She straightened up and said, "Take him away!"

"Yes, Miss Jacobs!"

Damon Crawford panicked and struggled fiercely.

Fear turned into anger.

"Jasmine Jacobs, you bitch! If it weren’t for me stepping in when your family’s adversaries humiliated you, your reputation would have been destroyed! Those kids, probably none are even mine! You are not clean either, why demand from me? You should be grateful, how can you kill me!"

Jasmine Jacobs’ face turned extremely ugly.

"Shut up!"

She landed a heavy slap on Damon Crawford’s face.

"Both kids are yours! But now, I wish they weren’t!"

"You bastard..."

The two bodyguards did not give Damon Crawford a chance to speak anymore; they quickly taped his mouth shut.

"Take him away! I don’t want to see him!"

"Yes, Miss Jacobs!"

The two bodyguards bound and gagged Damon Crawford tightly and took him out through the back door.

Jasmine Jacobs’ gaze finally landed on Ashley Shaw, filled with hostility.

Ashley Shaw felt a chill run down her spine under Jasmine Jacobs’ sharp gaze.

She had already realized through Damon Crawford’s fear of his wife that she was not an ordinary person.

Listening to Jasmine Jacobs’ conversation with Damon Crawford, she fully understood that Damon Crawford’s wife had a dark background.

She could be killed as easily as Damon Crawford.

Ashley Shaw felt tense but tried to force herself to calm down.

"Phew..."

She quickly took a deep breath and met Jasmine Jacobs’ gaze, saying, "Miss Jacobs... I heard them call you that, mind if I also address you that way?"

Jasmine Jacobs looked at Ashley Shaw’s fearless and calm demeanor, a bit surprised.

She had already confirmed every woman in the photos with Damon Crawford previously.

All those women were scared witless in front of her.

Except for the youngest one in front of her, who seemed to be the boldest.

Therefore, she granted Ashley Shaw more patience.

"Sure, what do you want to say? Begging for mercy or urging me to be swift?"

Though Jasmine Jacobs didn’t intend to kill Ashley Shaw, she wouldn’t let her off easily either.

She merely wanted to witness this young woman’s expression of fear.

Damon Crawford was scum, yet this young woman was not entirely innocent either.

She appreciated her boldness but disliked her calm, frank gaze upon herself.

However, Ashley Shaw’s expression remained calm.

"Okay, I’ll call you Miss Jacobs then. Miss Jacobs, look at the dagger on the ground."

Ashley Shaw pointed at the dagger lying on the ground.

It had fallen from Damon Crawford’s hand when he was overpowered.

Jasmine Jacobs glanced down and saw it, asking indifferently, "I see it, so?"

Ashley Shaw said, "The dagger wasn’t meant for you but as a threat. When I spoke earlier, he had it pressed against my back."

Jasmine Jacobs frowned.

Indeed, she hadn’t noticed that.

Ashley Shaw, fearing disbelief, turned her back, lifting her shirt sleeve.

There were indeed marks of injury.

Thanks to Damon Crawford’s heavy-handedness, it left a wound.

Jasmine Jacobs was mostly convinced seeing the injury.

Ashley Shaw turned back, continuing to explain.

"See? So everything I said was under duress from him."

"In truth, as you initially found out, Damon Crawford and Maeve plotted to kidnap me with ill intentions."

"I did work at the same convenience store with Maeve, but she held a grudge since the manager transferred me to her shift, making her take night shifts."

"Coincidentally, Damon Crawford and Maeve encountered me one day, and after discussing, Maeve planned to exchange me for money, hitting two birds with one stone: ruining my reputation and securing Damon Crawford’s money."
