Chapter 131: Chapter 131: She Is the One I Like
Warren Prescott’s kick was not light, sending Jasmine Jacobs crashing into the wall.
After a dull thud, Jasmine’s screams echoed again.
"Ah—"
Warren looked at Jasmine Jacobs without any expression, showing no trace of pity.
He spoke coldly, "I’m Warren Prescott, I’m not a good person, and I don’t have any gentlemanly rules about not hitting women, so... sorry."
Although he apologized, there was no sign of regret on his face; instead, he exuded a blatant arrogance.
Jasmine wanted to say something, but as soon as she opened her mouth, she gasped from the pain.
A few of her subordinates, upon witnessing this, were enraged and immediately charged at Warren Prescott.
The people Warren brought with him also couldn’t stand by and hurried to head down the corridor towards him.
But in truth, Warren didn’t need their help at all.
He raised his hand, dodged the person rushing at him with a dagger, and kicked the man in his vital area.
"Ah!!!"
That bodyguard screamed in pain and fell to his knees.
The others exchanged glances, filled with caution.
This guy, his strikes are vicious.
"Go!" One of them urged himself on, rushing toward Warren Prescott first.
"Heh."
Ashley Shaw stood less than two meters away from Warren Prescott.
She only heard a faintly amused chuckle, as if he was mocking their overconfidence.
Those people thought Warren’s attacks were just ruthless, but they didn’t know he was also relentless.
Warren firmly caught a punch aimed at him, yanked the attacker backward, and slammed the man’s head forward.
The man’s momentum caused him to crash headfirst into the wall.
"Thud—"
The man couldn’t even let out a scream before losing consciousness from the impact.
Next came the second one.
This time, Warren didn’t wait for the opponent to attack first; he moved so fast that the naked eye couldn’t follow.
Ashley Shaw could only hear the thud of fists landing on flesh.
When Ashley focused again, the person had already been knocked to the ground by Warren and couldn’t get up.
She couldn’t help but marvel: Such speed...
It all happened within a few seconds!
She always knew about Warren’s capabilities, that the Prescott Family trained him comprehensively and from all angles.
But it was the first time Ashley witnessed Warren in action.
She was... shocked.
Such a fight scene, she’d only seen it in TV dramas.
By the time Warren’s group of young men came running over, Jasmine Jacobs’ four bodyguards had already been taken down by Warren, leaving only one.
The remaining bodyguard was clever and, seeing the situation was unfavorable, picked up a dagger from the ground and tried to edge towards Ashley Shaw.
He intended to use Ashley Shaw to control Warren Prescott.
Anyone could see that Warren acted because Jasmine had insulted Ashley with the words "little bitch."
Ashley quickly tried to dodge as the man approached her, but she heard Jasmine Jacobs say laboriously, "Stop!"
The bodyguard halted, looking at Jasmine Jacobs in confusion.
"Miss Jacobs..."
"Come here! Help me up!"
The bodyguard dared not disobey, going over to carefully help the fallen Jasmine Jacobs to her feet.
The people Warren brought wanted to rush over, but seeing Jasmine stopping the bodyguard, they also paused.
With the help of the bodyguard, Jasmine struggled to stand up.
But once she was up, she was still unsteady, showing the intensity of Warren’s kick.
Jasmine gritted her teeth and clutched her aching stomach as she spoke.
"Young Master Prescott, ever since I met you, I’ve treated you with respect. I don’t understand what your current behavior means?"
"I distinctly asked earlier if she was the Prescott Family’s adopted daughter, you said no, which is why I said what I did."
"But now, without a word, you’re attacking me and my people. Even if I, Jasmine Jacobs, die, I want to die understanding why."
She truly couldn’t comprehend it.
Even though she realized it was because she called Ashley a "little bitch" that Warren turned hostile.
But she couldn’t understand why he was protecting someone posing as their adopted daughter if Ashley wasn’t related to them?
Warren didn’t answer immediately but instead moved to stand beside Ashley Shaw.
He placed his large hand on Ashley’s left shoulder, gently gripping it.
Ashley only felt an added weight on her shoulder.
The heat from that hand seemed to scorch her.
Yet she inexplicably felt reassured.
Maybe it was because she knew that compared to Warren, Jasmine Jacobs was the real threat at the moment.
So she didn’t shake off the hand that was holding her shoulder.
Jasmine Jacobs watched this scene in astonishment, her eyes suddenly colored with irritation.
"Young Master Prescott, I did ask, and you lied to me, saying she wasn’t your adopted sister, yet you still attacked me?"
If she had offended someone from the Prescott Family, she would accept her fate. She shouldn’t have believed Ashley, so she deserved to be taught a lesson.
But now, Warren had deceived her, and how could she not be furious?
Warren glanced at Jasmine with a faint smile, expressionless.
"She isn’t the adopted daughter of the Prescott Family, nor is she my sister."
Jasmine frowned, "Then why..."
"She is the person I like."
The deep voice left Jasmine stunned, her eyes widening with shock.
"T-the person you like?"
The men Warren brought all turned sharply to look at Ashley Shaw.
Ashley also looked at Warren in surprise, her mind momentarily blank.
But upon meeting Warren’s emotionless dark eyes, her surprise was smoothed over.
He wasn’t being serious; this was just an excuse for him to act.
"So tell me, should you have been beaten?"
Warren’s indifferently spoken words were truly provoking.
Had it been anyone else, Jasmine would be demanding their life for such talk.
But the other party was Warren Prescott.
The Jacobs Family’s current credo had only one line: "Westcroft, Aethelgard, and Caldwell."
In Westcroft, don’t mess with the Prescott Family, and in Aethelgard, don’t mess with the Caldwell Family. Other than that, the Jacobs could walk around freely.
No matter how explosive Jasmine’s temper was, she could only force herself to endure it now.
She held on for a moment and then even smiled.
"Young Master Prescott, it’s my fault. I didn’t know this lady was someone you liked. I said the wrong thing, I deserve to be hit. But there’s no need for you to lift a finger, I’ll handle it myself."
As she said this, Jasmine raised her right hand and mercilessly slapped herself.
Ashley Shaw was somewhat surprised.
She thought that based on Jasmine’s personality, she would fight Warren to the end over his words, yet she didn’t expect Jasmine to slap herself.
But thinking about the Prescott Family’s influence in Westcroft, she immediately understood.
Warren expressionlessly watched as Jasmine prepared to slap herself a second time and impatiently said, "Enough."
Jasmine didn’t have a tendency for self-abuse and immediately lowered her hand.
Warren continued, "Your husband’s affairs have nothing to do with her. That woman named Maeve and your husband kidnapped her; she was merely unlucky to encounter such people. Instead of causing trouble for her here, why don’t you ask your husband what’s really going on?"
