Chapter 261: Owen Sinclair, Probing for Information

Chapter 261: Chapter 261: Owen Sinclair, Probing for Information

Assistant Lowell handed the small remote control used for the projection to Warren Prescott, then stepped to the seat next to Ashley Shaw and sat down.

However, after hesitating for a second, he moved one seat to the right.

Leaving a space between himself and Ashley Shaw.

Mr. Prescott Jr. wanted to sit next to Miss Shaw, and he didn’t want to be the "third wheel."

Ashley Shaw just thought that Assistant Lowell was afraid of disturbing her, so she quickly withdrew her hands from the table and placed them on her lap.

Looking very much like an upright and serious school student.

Warren Prescott operated a few buttons on the computer and then switched the PPT.

"Mark has already covered things comprehensively, but I want to add three more points."

Ashley Shaw felt like she had heard similar words from the principal on every flag-raising day.

Expecting a long segment of formal talk, she was surprised that Warren Prescott’s speaking style was completely different from the principal’s.

His pinpointed issues were sharp and his wording was concise.

Even though the issues were complex professional matters, Ashley Shaw could understand what he meant.

She couldn’t help but wonder when Warren Prescott started learning all this.

But it certainly wasn’t something he learned only after graduation.

These professional issues require a long learning period.

This indicates that he had been exposed to various company operations during his studies.

Not to mention, Warren Prescott’s character might be questionable, but his personal ability is certainly non-questionable.

Or perhaps, her judgment of character may be questionable, but her aesthetic taste is certainly not.

Someone born in Rome who works a hundred times harder than the average person; even if you dislike him, you can’t help but admire him.

Coming here today to the Spectator Tower, she felt like she had learned several tough lessons.

Three years as a housewife in her past life had solidified her thinking.

But today, she truly gained a lot of insights.

It was just the vibration of her phone that brought Ashley Shaw back to her senses.

She quickly turned off the volume, bent over, and swiftly walked out of the meeting room.

Warren Prescott’s gaze followed Ashley Shaw for a moment, then quickly returned to work.

"Our arrangement aims to prevent future criticism, so from the beginning, we won’t enable this lottery function..."

Ashley Shaw gently closed the door, isolating all sounds from the meeting room.

But she walked several meters away before answering the phone call.

It was Ariana Grant who called.

"Ashley..."

There was some heaviness in Ariana Grant’s voice.

Ashley Shaw’s heart skipped a beat, thinking perhaps Ariana had found out about what happened at Bucolic Harmonies today?

"What’s wrong?" She asked with concern.

She only heard Ariana Grant say, "I just got a call, the court date is in three days."

Relieved, yet a bit tense at the same time, Ashley Shaw’s mind began to work.

The court judgment regarding the house, no one can guarantee it will completely follow the plan they hope for.

"Have you told Attorney Coleman?"

"It was Attorney Coleman who called me."

"Okay, I’ll be with you that day. As soon as it’s over, we’ll head straight to Aethelgard."

"Okay!" Ariana Grant paused, then added, "There will also be a mediation session before the court date. Can you accompany me to that as well?"

"Of course."

Ariana Grant visibly breathed a sigh of relief.

"That’s good. I really am... a bit scared."

Remembering her mother’s frantic behavior when she used to hit her made her back feel cold and her chest ache.

"Don’t be afraid. No matter what, I’m right beside you."

"Mm-hmm! By the way, are you coming back for lunch? I learned to make pasta. If you’re coming, I’ll get two steaks."

Ashley Shaw hesitated, glancing back at the meeting room, and said, "I probably won’t be back before the evening, don’t count me in. You eat first."

"Alright! I’ll wait for you to come back in the evening."

"Okay, bye-bye."

Ashley Shaw ended the call and then called Shane Coleman.

Shane Coleman seemed very confident.

"Don’t worry, while I can’t promise a 100% victory, there’s an 80-90% chance you’ll get the outcome you hope for."

Ashley Shaw knew a little about the rules in the legal industry.

Lawyers, like doctors, wouldn’t promise a 100% success rate before an operation.

So if Shane Coleman said that, it means he’s truly confident.

"Thank you, Attorney Coleman."

Ashley Shaw expressed her gratitude sincerely, already planning to pay Shane Coleman the lawyer’s fee after everything settled.

Though she had initially bargained for a free case using her knowledge of Owen Sinclair’s past "gossip," they had become more friends than mere transactional acquaintances.

Being friends means not letting a friend work for free, so she knew she had to pay him.

Besides, she still had plenty of money now.

Aside from the one million given by Lars Prescott, she received five million from Rosalind Lynch and Gavin Lynch.

The day after the money was settled, she transferred 2.5 million to Warren Prescott as a token of thanks.

When Warren Prescott returned the money, she deposited it in a newly opened account.

She never considered the 2.5 million in that account as her own, so she hadn’t touched it.

She planned to add an additional 1.07 million in as payment for a brooch.

Before leaving for Aethelgard, she planned to mail the card to Warren Prescott.

Whether or not Warren Prescott accepts it is his business, but she couldn’t not give it.

After tallying up her living expenses, including gifts for Leo and various presents for the Prescott Family, she still had 2.3 million, enough to cover the lawyer’s fees.

She only heard Shane Coleman say, "We’re all friends here, no need for all the thanks. If you and Ariana have time in the next few days, come over, and I’ll have a face-to-face discussion with her. You can be there to help her remember anything she might forget."

"Sure, I’ll call you before we come over."

"Okay! Talk later!"

Shane Coleman ended the call and saw Owen Sinclair at the office doorway, not knowing when he appeared.

Seeing him looking over, Owen Sinclair raised his hands in a gesture.

"Don’t misunderstand, I didn’t mean to eavesdrop. I saw you were on the phone and didn’t want to disturb you."

What Shane Coleman just said wasn’t confidential, so he smiled and said, "Is the famous actor this free today? I saw you hosting yesterday; how come you’re here today?"

"You mean that survival show? I was just there helping a ’young friend’ with the opening act; after that, I had nothing more to do."

"Then what brings you here today...?"

Owen Sinclair got straight to the point: "I’m planning to set up my own studio and want to hire you as my legal advisor."

Shane Coleman raised an eyebrow: "If it’s just as a friend, I’ll have to think about it."

"Don’t worry, your paycheck won’t be missing."

The two had clearly become friends who could tease each other.

After talking business, Owen Sinclair casually asked, "Were you just on the phone with Ashley?"
