Chapter 344: Chapter 344: Asking for Your Opinion
The message was from Warren Prescott, concisely asking if she had seen the voting page in the livestream room.
Ashley Shaw was a bit sleepy and initially wanted to ignore it, but unexpectedly, Warren sent another message.
Warren: [About this vote, I want to ask for your opinion as an ordinary viewer. Everyone around me is staff, and you’re the only regular viewer I know.]
Seeing this, Ashley, no matter how drowsy, forced herself to perk up.
Since it involved Leon Zeller, who might be her future brother-in-law, she felt she had to express her opinion.
After some thought, she decided it was too troublesome to send messages back and forth, so she simply made a WeChat call.
The call was answered instantly just as she dialed.
"Hello?"
A stranger’s voice came through first, followed by Warren’s: "Please step out, I need to take a call."
"Yes."
After the sound of a door closing, Warren spoke again: "Go ahead."
Ashley hesitated and asked, "Am I disturbing you?"
"No, they were just discussing Leon Zeller with me. Your call is timely. Tell me, what do you think."
In her past life, Ashley hadn’t paid attention to this reality show, but she remembered that it was very successful in the end.
She organized her thoughts and said, "As a...friend of The Wolves, selfishly, I hope the team doctor can treat him so he can continue on the show. But as a viewer, I have to admit that having the team doctor intervene is unfair to the other contestants."
Warren agreed, saying, "Indeed, the show expressly stated from the start that no program staff will interfere with any contestant. But Leon Zeller got injured saving someone, so the situation is different."
"But most genuine casual viewers only see the results, not the process, right?"
Warren fell silent for a moment and then asked, "So, are you saying you hope I don’t let the team doctor intervene?"
Ashley shook her head, then realized Warren couldn’t see her, so she said, "I think, rather than us discussing it endlessly, we should let The Wolves decide for themselves."
"Leon Zeller."
"Hm?"
"His name is Leon Zeller. Calling them The Wolves all the time feels awkward to me."
"Isn’t that what the fans call them?"
"Are you his fan too?"
"No, I don’t play games."
"Exactly, address people according to your relationship, you’ve only met him a couple of times, why call him The Wolves?"
Ashley frowned, "Now’s not the time to talk about this, right?"
"I’m just correcting you..."
"What’s there to correct? It’s just a name. Anyway, I think leaving the decision to him is better. Whether he’s accepted or criticized for it later, it’s his own choice, not something forced by the show."
She paused, then added, "I believe the decision he’ll make in the end will be good for everyone."
In her past life, this show didn’t have any disputes, probably because Leon Zeller made the decision himself.
So all she could do was find a way to convince Warren Prescott to let Leon make the decision himself.
Just as Ashley was contemplating how to persuade Warren effectively, Warren unexpectedly just said "Okay."
"Huh?"
"I mean, we’ll do as you said, let him make his own decision. Whether to let the team doctor treat him, or for him to just tough it out."
Ashley was still processing; she hadn’t even started persuading him, how did Warren just agree?
But then again, maybe Warren thought the same way himself.
So when she voiced the same idea, he just went along with it and agreed.
"Are you still up?" Warren asked.
"About to sleep."
"Okay, get some rest. Tomorrow’s court session is in the afternoon, right?"
"Yes..."
There was a knock on Warren’s side, he said "come in," then told Ashley, "Alright, I’ll hang up first, you get some rest."
Ashley wanted to say "you rest early too," but swallowed the words back, only saying "okay," and ended the call.
Being an unemployed loafer, she could lie down and sleep whenever she wanted.
But Warren was different, he had a ton of things on his plate, even when exhausted, he had to finish his work before resting.
In her past life that’s how it was, and it surely was the same in this life.
In terms of "hard work" and "diligence," she thought Warren deserved the first place, no one dared to claim second for that.
She truly admired him for this, and it was a major reason she was so infatuated with him in her past life.
Both pained and admired him.
But now, she just pitied the man for his lifelong bad luck.
Even though Warren worked hard, his earnings in a single day were unreachable for an ordinary person even in eight lifetimes. If she wanted to pity him, she should first see if she herself was worthy of it.
The answer was obvious: she wasn’t.
Someone unworthy should just go to sleep early.
But the overwhelming sleepiness from just now completely disappeared because of this phone call.
Unable to sleep, she might as well get up for a drink of water.
However, upon opening her room door, she noticed the living room light was still on.
Assuming it was left on by mistake, she turned her head and saw Ariana Grant curled up on the sofa.
Ariana was already asleep, her phone still lit up in her hand.
Ashley glanced at the screen and saw that it was showing Leon Zeller’s live broadcast room.
Clearly, she still cared for him deep down, her words of cutting ties with Leon were false.
Ashley sighed softly to herself.
It’s self-doubt causing trouble.
Ariana and she were the same, self-doubt ran deep in their bones.
Though their reasons differed, the essence was the same: a lack of self-confidence.
She recalled that in a past life, Ariana had an online romance, but it ended fruitlessly.
All of a sudden, she realized that Ariana’s online romance was probably with Leon Zeller too.
Just without her intervention, Ariana might not have even known it was Leon Zeller in the past life.
In this life, things had changed. Who knows if Ariana and Leon’s ending would change too.
She had long noticed that Leon Zeller was indeed a rare gem of a man, giving up on him seemed a huge pity. She would need to think of a way to bring them together.
Ashley poured a cup of water and drank the lemon tea packet Ariana had made.
Before returning to her room, she quietly found a blanket and gently covered Ariana with it.
Just as the blanket was laid over her, Ariana suddenly mumbled, "Mom."
Ashley paused, seeing Ariana’s eyes still shut, but her brows were furrowed.
It was clear she still hadn’t figured out why Jade Coleman didn’t care about her, her own daughter.
A pang of pain hit her heart, but in this matter, she could offer no help.
All she could do was hope Ariana could receive some motherly love from Joyce Sutton in the future.
Time quickly turned to the next day.
Ashley finally fell asleep just as dawn broke, and the alarm woke her with a pounding headache.
But reason prevailed over the sleepiness, and she forced herself out of bed.
