Chapter 295: Inviting Warren Prescott and His Grandfather to Dinner

Chapter 295: Chapter 295: Inviting Warren Prescott and His Grandfather to Dinner

At the market, the two of them split up.

Ashley Shaw was in charge of buying meat, while Ariana Grant took care of the vegetables.

August was the hottest time of the year, and with the heat, appetites shrunk.

Ashley Shaw didn’t buy a lot, only picking what Grandpa Prescott usually enjoyed.

As for Warren Prescott, she didn’t play favorites either.

Since she sincerely invited them over to thank him for his previous help, there was no need to skimp on the dishes.

So the dishes she bought were all favorites of both the grandfather and grandson.

However, just the act of buying groceries made Ashley Shaw feel like she had just finished a marathon, panting after just a few steps.

After finally gathering everything, when they met up, Ariana immediately noticed something was wrong with her.

"Ashley, what’s wrong? Why does your face look so bad, and why are you sweating so much?"

This market was indoors and had central air conditioning, so sweating wasn’t usual.

But Ashley Shaw looked like she’d just been pulled out of water, drenched in cold sweat.

"I’ve got a bit of a fever," Ashley admitted, "but just help me keep it from Grandpa Prescott so he doesn’t worry."

"But...if you’re sick, why not just tell them and reschedule for another day?"

"Delaying isn’t a solution, and we’re headed to Aethelgard this weekend, right? Who knows when we could do it if we delay."

"Then why not just invite them out to a restaurant instead of cooking yourself?"

"It’s fine. I’ve taken medicine, and now that I’ve sweated, the fever should have broken."

"You don’t look like your fever has broken."

Ashley directly linked arms with Ariana. "Alright, alright, let’s get back and prepare the food! Today I’m going to need Lord Grant’s help a lot."

"Then escort this princess back to the palace!"

"As you command!"

...

Once back home, Ashley took her temperature.

As she’d predicted, after all that sweating, her fever had indeed come down.

37.4 degrees.

No wonder she felt so much lighter.

"What’s your temperature?" Ariana leaned over to ask.

Ashley directly showed her the thermometer.

Ariana immediately breathed a sigh of relief.

"As long as it’s down, it’s still early. You should lie down for a bit and drink some more water. I’ll do what I can for you."

Ashley felt a bit embarrassed.

"My fever’s come down, I can manage myself."

Ariana playfully scolded her with a look.

"Who’s being polite? I haven’t even thanked you for finding me a lawyer and taking me to the doctor."

After nearly two months of recuperation, she no longer had diarrhea.

Of course, she had to eat clean food; if she had cold treats or grilled food, she’d still get diarrhea.

Ashley gave a dry cough and said, "Who’s being polite? I’m just worried your cooking won’t suit their taste, and I’ll have to invite them over again."

Ariana’s face darkened. "Fine, I’m worried about your health, and you’re criticizing my cooking skills. I’m not helping you anymore!"

Ashley quickly clasped her hands together. "I was wrong, Ariana, Princess Ariana~ Please pardon this servant, okay?"

Ariana shot her a side glance and raised a finger.

Ashley was confused.

All she heard was Ariana saying, "I want a bottle of cola today."

She had been forbidden from drinking carbonated drinks for a long time.

Ashley stated her terms, "Room temperature, sugar-free cola."

"No way! I must pick between room temperature and sugar-free."

Ashley rolled her eyes, saying, "Then I’ll choose for you, room temperature."

Ariana sighed, "Alright, room temperature it is. Sugar-free cola has no soul; I might as well drink water."

Ashley glanced at the time on her phone, saying, "Before we head to Aethelgard, let’s see Dr. Tate once more. Then we’ll come back for National Day and check in with her again."

"Fine, fine, whatever you say."

Having experienced the benefits of not having to deal with diarrhea, Ariana was highly compliant with seeing the doctor.

Most importantly, Dr. Tate was kind and not intimidating at all.

In the end, Ashley was forced to lie down on the couch under Ariana’s orders, while Ariana got busy preparing the ingredients.

Ariana was great at prepping ingredients, but not so much at cooking.

By the time she finished prepping, it was already 10:30.

Ashley had been lying down for an hour, drank two pitchers of warm water, and went to the bathroom four times.

Rechecking her temperature, it was back to normal.

"Reassured now?" Ashley handed over the thermometer, "I’ll head to the kitchen. Help me keep an ear on my phone, in case they call, okay?"

"Got it!"

Ariana leaned back onto the sofa, letting out a contented sigh.

However, she quickly remembered something, hastily pulling out her phone and opening the Patrons’ reality show app.

Patrons differed from TV shows in that each participant had their own live stream. You could select whose perspective to watch.

As soon as she opened the Patrons’ app, the system automatically showed her viewing history — Stardust Team - LANG.

This was Leon Zeller’s stream.

As the stream loaded, Ariana quickly turned the volume to its lowest setting.

Just then, the stream finished loading.

In the frame, she saw Leon Zeller struggling to find something edible.

Ever since his discharge, from last night until now, he hadn’t eaten a single bite.

Just when that moment came, Leon Zeller suddenly staggered —

Ariana’s heart skipped a beat in worry.

Leon had left the team because of an injured leg and didn’t want to burden his teammates. With another fall, who knew if it would aggravate his injury?

But in the next instant, there was happiness on Leon’s face, as if he’d found some treasure.

Leon didn’t even mind his leg, picking up a rock to dig out a plant.

Once he had it dug up, Ariana learned from the live chat that it was wild Chinese yam that Leon had discovered.

The wild Chinese yam, or wild yam, just needed a bit of boiling to be edible.

For someone who hadn’t eaten for nearly 24 hours, it was a lifesaver.

Ariana sighed in relief.

It was a blessing in disguise, really.

Just then, a yam aroma wafted from the kitchen.

She remembered she’d bought yams today too.

She wondered about the difference between wild yams and the ones she’d bought.

In any case, it almost felt like she’d shared a meal with Leon today by rounding things up.

But seeing the live chat flooded with comments calling Leon "hubby," her smile faded, and she forced herself to close the stream.

...

Elder Prescott and Warren Prescott arrived at 11:10.

Warren had calculated the departure time, aiming to arrive at exactly 11:30.

But Elder Prescott couldn’t sit still at home, pacing back and forth in the living room.

He kept asking what time it was every two minutes, so Warren, feeling the anticipation as well, decided to bring him over early.
