Chapter 297: Calling Her Princess

Chapter 297: Chapter 297: Calling Her Princess

In the next instant, Xavier Quincy’s hand was already on Anna’s neck.

He was choking her tightly.

"What did you tell her?"

Anna’s breathing was a bit difficult, but her swollen eyes curved up, and her smile twisted her face.

"I was right, we broke up because of this Ashley, didn’t we?"

"I’ve never seen you save anyone’s name without using their full name. Even your parents’ names are saved fully. Only hers lacks a last name!"

A woman’s sixth sense is like a radar detector.

She wasn’t making that call to contact Ashley Shaw, nor to relay any message for her.

She just wanted to see Xavier’s reaction.

Anna was smiling, but tears were streaming down.

"When did you start seeing this bitch behind my back? How long have you been together? Huh?"

Suddenly, Xavier let go of Anna’s neck.

He flipped his hand and instead pinched her chin.

"Call her a bitch again, and I guarantee you’ll pay for it."

Anna’s body trembled slightly.

But then, she focused more intently on Xavier’s eyes and asked, "So, you really were together behind my back, right?"

Xavier let out a mocking chuckle, his smile icy.

He patted Anna’s face and said, "If we were together, you wouldn’t even be in the picture."

Anna’s face suddenly turned pale.

Everyone at the research institute said Xavier Quincy was good-tempered, gentlemanly, and considerate—such an easygoing person.

But only those who got close to him really knew that this was just a mask he wore.

The real him was selfish, cold-hearted, and relentless in his pursuit of goals. To him, interests always outweighed emotions.

If necessary, he could even pretend to love you.

Tears flowed down wildly again, as if she had gathered all her courage to ask, "Rain, did you ever love me? Were you with me just because my dad was your teacher, and that’s why you didn’t reject me?"

"You already know the answer, so why humiliate yourself?"

"Then do you love her?"

"That doesn’t concern you." With that, Xavier didn’t waste any more words and directly booked a ticket to Corinthia for Anna.

He also called to wake up the person who slept on the same floor as them last night, and had him forcibly take Anna to the airport.

Anna struggled while hysterically shouting in her native language, "No woman will like someone like you! If she knew what you were like behind that mask, she’d surely be disgusted by you, hate you, fear you, and stay away! Someone like you is destined never to be happy!"

Xavier’s face showed not the slightest expression as he coldly said, "Make sure you see her board the plane, or don’t bother coming back."

The man shuddered.

He had never seen this side of Xavier Quincy.

So terrifying...

Once he snapped back to reality, he quickly replied, "Yes," and then, with his driver, forcefully shoved Anna into the car.

The car roared off as Xavier coldly returned to the room.

It was only when he saw the phone on the bed that a hint of emotion appeared on his face.

A moment later, he picked up the phone, took a deep breath, and dialed Ashley Shaw’s number.

The beeping sounded several times before it was answered.

The person on the other end didn’t speak, as if waiting for him to speak first.

But in fact, Ashley Shaw wasn’t sure who was calling.

Until she heard Xavier Quincy’s gentle voice from the phone, "Hello, Ashley?"

Ashley then confirmed that it was Xavier Quincy calling.

She awkwardly said, "Leo, am I bothering you?"

"No." Xavier said, "Did I scare you earlier? That was my ex-girlfriend. I don’t know when she followed me back to China. She took my phone when I wasn’t around earlier, I don’t know what she said to you?"

So it was an ex-girlfriend, not a princess?

Ashley exhaled lightly.

She almost thought Xavier was really as indulgent as Warren Prescott described.

Warren must have been talking nonsense; how could Leo be that kind of person?

Ashley steadied her emotions and said, "She didn’t say much, just that if I had anything to say, she could pass it on to you."

"Pass it on?"

"Yes, didn’t you see the text I sent you yesterday?"

Xavier opened his messages and indeed saw that Ashley had sent one yesterday.

The gist was that she had something to do today at noon and wanted to reschedule their lunch to the evening.

"Sorry, I got drunk yesterday and missed it... Do you have something going on this afternoon?"

"Yes, I invited Grandpa Prescott over for lunch at home."

"At home?"

"I’m staying at a friend’s house now."

There was a knock at the door, and Ariana called out, "I’ll get it," and then ran off.

Xavier heard Ariana’s voice and said, "Alright, I won’t disturb you anymore. Let’s meet tonight."

Ashley apologetically said, "It might not work tonight either... I’m a bit tired today and want to rest early."

She didn’t directly mention she had a fever, afraid Xavier would worry.

Xavier patiently said, "Then we can wait until you’re free to meet."

"Okay, I’ll treat you next time. Don’t fight with me over the bill, or I won’t dine with you again."

Xavier’s laughter came through, "Okay."

Ashley could tell Xavier wasn’t upset or displeased, and she felt a little relieved.

"Alright then, I’ll hang up now."

"Okay."

After the call ended, Xavier went to the bathroom and quickly splashed water on his face.

The man in the mirror had thick brows and dark eyes, strikingly handsome, but to him, he looked detestable.

He didn’t know when it started, perhaps after the incident at home, but he had become the kind of person he once despised.

This face was just gilded on the outside, rotten on the inside.

...

On Ashley’s side.

She put her phone back in her pocket, and just as she was about to continue cooking, she turned her head and saw Warren Prescott and Elder Prescott being ushered in by Ariana.

Both of their hands were full.

She had told him not to bring anything, but he still did.

Ashley quickly tidied herself up and then walked out briskly.

"Grandpa Prescott, you’ve arrived?"

Elder Prescott looked her over.

"Oh dear, how much cooking have you done? You look exhausted."

A flicker of guilt flashed in Ashley’s eyes.

Before coming out of the kitchen, she had even applied lip color and tidied up.

How was she still found out?

"Haha, I didn’t cook much, just stayed up late last night, so I look a bit under the weather."

Ashley said, quickly taking the things from Elder Prescott’s hands.

There were some fruits she usually loved.

A warmth spread through Ashley’s heart as she put the items down and helped Elder Prescott sit on the sofa.

"Grandpa Prescott, have a seat first. I have more dishes to finish in the kitchen. I’ll have Ariana cut some fruit for you, and you can chat with her. My dishes will be ready in half an hour."

"Sure, don’t worry about me. Go on, I’m looking forward to tasting your cooking."

Ashley nodded with a smile, "Okay."

Just then, Ariana suddenly slapped her forehead and said, "Oh no! I ordered some fruit slices from a store at the neighborhood entrance and forgot to pick them up."

Elder Prescott said, "I brought plenty of fruit. We can have mine first. You can have your fruit slices next time."

Ariana immediately understood that Elder Prescott didn’t know what "fruit slices" were.

She explained, "Grandpa Prescott, fruit slices are already cut fruits. Your fruits are still fresh and won’t go bad for a few days, but the slices have to be consumed on the same day. Otherwise, it’ll be wasted."

Elder Prescott nodded in agreement, "Alright, then I’ll go with you to pick them up. I could use a little exercise, and it’ll help me eat more later."
