Chapter 795: Chapter 684: Liking You, From the First Glance 25_2
On the other side, Jian Dan received no response but didn’t mind, assuming that Bo Qin must have started getting busy and couldn’t reply to her. She shrugged nonchalantly and continued to enjoy the delicious food in her hands, which was cooked by Li’s mom—different but just as tasty as what Lin’s mom made.
She loved the dishes made by both of them, however.
Mu Qing had to return to the band that evening and asked if she wanted to come along for some fun. Jian Dan declined because the homework Lai Wei and Mi Lu had assigned left no room for rest. She needed to practice problem-solving, lots of problem-solving.
Mu Qing spread his hands, "The world of a top student, so melancholic."
Jian Dan laughed, "Your fans are waiting for your blessing."
Mu Qing laughed heartily as he headed out, waving his hand, "Little Jian Dan, if I’m free tomorrow, I’ll come over to mooch food again, don’t find me annoying."
"Not at all, feel free to come."
"I’ll remember that."
That weekend, Bo Qin didn’t show up, and consumed by her studies, Jian Dan overlooked this issue. On Monday, their class welcomed a new student when Zhao Linlin’s face caught the trio’s attention, leaving them in disbelief.
Zhao Linlin walked over and sat next to Mi Lu, laughing, "I told you, I have a way to become your classmate, you just didn’t believe me."
"Girl, we really didn’t expect you to be so awesome." Mi Lu almost jumped up, hugging Zhao Linlin, "Linlin, you truly are a savior. From now on, I also have a desk mate."
Once settled, under the teacher’s reminder, Zhao Linlin went to the front to introduce herself. She kept it brief, just mentioning her name, grade, and the name of her previous school. It was evident to everyone that Zhao Linlin’s relationship with Lai Wei, Jian Dan, and Mi Lu was special, seemingly the reason for her transfer.
The trio were already conspicuous enough in the class, unexpectedly.
Some discussed, "Now that Zhao Linlin has joined our class, what about Lin Yuanyuan, who is their roommate?"
"That’s right, and how does that matter? Lin Yuanyuan hardly ever attends classes, they can’t possibly keep a dormitory room waiting for her, can they?"
Hearing the gossip, Zhao Linlin commented, "I want to share a dormitory with you guys. Who is Lin Yuanyuan? I’ll go and sort it out. If not, I’ll just solve it with my fists. I’m the least afraid of trouble, and my relatives and friends are always ready to help me out."
The trio: "..."
Jian Dan poked Zhao Linlin’s arm, "Here’s some info for you, Lin Yuanyuan is that famous movie star, did you know?"
"No, I don’t follow celebrities." Zhao Linlin looked troubled, "But later, I can call my cousin, she’ll be happy to fill me in."
The trio: "..."
This person was simply hopeless, totally hopeless.
"Forget it, let me fill you in." Jian Dan chuckled and started explaining how they ended up tangled with Lin Yuanyuan. Zhao Linlin was surprised and then burst into laughter, mocking.
"You three are so embarrassing. If I were there, I’d have slapped someone."
Mi Lu raised her hand, "Me, me, me, that’s just what I would do."
Zhao Linlin gave a thumbs-up, "Lulu, I knew it. You do have a knack for slapping."
Mi Lu actually took pride in that compliment, a total oddity, and the other two couldn’t bear to watch.
Since Zhao Linlin’s arrival, the class had gained a new highlight. The four of them were always seen together, and they studied exceptionally hard. Initially, Zhao Linlin wasn’t like this, but after a month, she seemed completely transformed. What mattered most was that the four of them consistently ranked in the top four of their grade.
Zhao Linlin was entirely satisfied with being fourth, and her dad even praised her, saying that switching schools was a great decision. Zhao Linlin herself felt that switching schools was indeed fitting, though she had some things she couldn’t understand or make sense of, wondering why she chose this place to suffer, as Lai Wei was such an oddball.
But no matter how much she complained here, to her father, it was truly impressive.
It wasn’t until almost the end of their second year of high school that Jian Dan realized something was off with Bo Qin, a complete avoidance directed at her. Initially, Jian Dan thought she had done something wrong and messaged Bo Qin, but he rarely replied, and when he did, he said he was very busy.
Over the months, this nearly became his catchphrase.
Evasion was also avoidance.
Jian Dan didn’t know what she had done wrong. She discussed the matter with Lai Wei and the others. Lai Wei, emotionally obtuse, couldn’t offer an explanation, while Mi Lu thought it was normal for a busy person like Bo Qin; there wasn’t anything wrong with that.
