Chapter 51: Chapter 51
Lin Xu opened her eyes as she felt something wet drop on her slightly and when she opened her eyes did she realizes that she was inside a hole.
Her head arched slightly as the memories of her being hit and dragged away came rushing in.
Sigh! "Who the hell would hit a pretty woman like me and drag her away.. aren’t there more better ways to hurt someone, ahhhh!"
She shouted as she then looked up, the hold was huge and steep. She couldn’t climb out even if she wanted to.
"Hello! Is anyone out there? Help! I’m stuck here! Hello?" She shouted but there was no response.
Soon the rain started and and it was worse than before.
"Susu!" she called out.
[ Yes ! Host! How are you doing? ]
Susu appeared.
Frowning, Lin Xu said, "Does it look like I’m doing good?"
Sigh! "I want to purchase an umbrella."
[ Umbrella? Host, you’re stuck in a hole during a storm and that’s what you’re worried about? ]
Lin Xu rolled her eyes. "Of course! I can’t let the rain drench me till I catch a cold. Do you want me to die in here?"
[ ...Fine. One umbrella, but it will cost you 2 taels. ]
"Take it, take it!" Lin Xu waved impatiently.
With a flash of light, an umbrella appeared beside her. She quickly grabbed it and opened it over her head, sighing in relief as the heavy raindrops stopped pouring directly onto her.
"Much better..." she muttered, leaning against the muddy wall of the hole.
[ Host, have you figured out a way to get out of here? ]
"I can’t possibly climb up by myself, the rain has started.. the others would probably come looking for me once the rain has stopped so I just have to hang on before they come."
[ Looks like the host is wrong about that! ]
Susu said as just then, Mo Ying’s voice ringed out loud from above as Susu immediately disappeared from sight.
"Lin Xu! Lin Xu! Where are you? Lin Xu?"
He shouted as upon recognizing his voice Lin Xu eyes immediately brightened up.
"Mo Ying!" Lin Xu shouted at the top of her lungs, her voice echoing against the damp walls of the hole.
The calling stopped for a heartbeat, then his voice thundered back, closer this time, "Lin Xu? Where are you?"
"Down here!" she yelled, waving the umbrella even though he couldn’t see her well. "I’m stuck in a hole!"
Mo Ying hurried over to the edge, his figure appearing above her as the rain poured down around him. His brows knitted together, his eyes wide with disbelief. "How in the world did you end up down there?"
Lin Xu huffed, shaking off the muddy water that splashed against her arm. "I’ll explain later! Just get me out of here first, I’m freezing!"
Mo Ying leaned forward, scanning the depth. His jaw tightened. "This hole is too deep. I can’t reach you with my hands." He glanced around, searching desperately for a branch or rope, but the rain made everything slippery and unreliable.
Seeing him crouch at the edge, struggling to find a way, Lin Xu sighed. "Hopeless man... if I wait for you to figure this out, I’ll drown before I’m saved."
She whispered sharply, "Susu!"
The system reappeared instantly.
[ Host, I’m back. Need my help? ]
"Of course! I want to buy a sturdy rope. Fast!"
[ That will be 2 taels. ]
"Fine, fine, take it already!"
A coil of rope appeared in her hands, slick but strong. Without hesitation, Lin Xu gathered herself and flung one end upward. It landed neatly across Mo Ying’s shoulder.
He caught it immediately, his eyes narrowing at her. "Where did you get this?"
Lin Xu bit her lip and forced a grin. "Don’t ask. Just use it!"
Mo Ying didn’t press further. He quickly tied the rope around a thick tree root, then tossed the other end back down to her. "Hold on tight."
Lin Xu wrapped the rope firmly around her wrist and clutched it with both hands. The muddy ground made her footing unstable, but Mo Ying’s steady pull gave her strength. Slowly, inch by inch, she rose from the darkness of the hole.
Her heart pounded as she climbed with his help, the rain soaking both of them. Finally, with one last heave, Mo Ying pulled her over the edge.
Lin Xu stumbled forward and collapsed against him, gasping for air.
"Phew! That was so close!" Lin Xu sighed in relief as Mo Ying immediately grabbed her by the shoulder.
"Where the hell have you been? How did you get stuck here? Do you know how worried I was I looked all around the mountain and I still couldn’t find you!"
Mo Ying shouted at the top of his voice, his eyes expression was so scary that Lin Xu just looked at him, shocked.
"I-i thought I would never see you again..."his voice started to waver.
Here’s the continuation, kept simple and heartfelt without over-explaining or using fancy words:
Lin Xu blinked at him, stunned. She had never seen Mo Ying like this before, his voice shaking. It was as though I was angry but at the same time scared.
Not know what to say. Slowly, she reached out and touched his sleeve. "Hey... I’m here now, aren’t I?"
Mo Ying’s grip on her shoulders tightened. He pulled her into his chest without another word.
The rain poured over them, but in that moment, it didn’t matter.
Lin Xu froze at first, then let out a shaky laugh, her voice muffled against him. "You’re squeezing me too hard... are you trying to strangle me after saving me?"
"Don’t joke right now," Mo Ying muttered, his arms still firm around her.
Lin Xu smiled faintly, her heart beating faster than she wanted to admit. She let him hold her, resting quietly in his embrace as the storm raged above.
"Cough! Cough!" Lin Xu coughed slightly from the cold as Mo Ying finally let go of her.
"It’s raining, let’s get you somewhere dry!" He said as he took hold of her hands and dragged her away.
