Chapter 76: Old Routine?:

Shen Wuxiao and Hong Ye sat at their table, chatting and catching up. It had been a long time since they last saw each other. Shen Wuxiao had always been interested in her—after all, how could any man let go of such a beautiful woman?

As they spoke, the mother and daughter at the neighboring table began preparing to cut a small cake.

Just then, a loud commotion broke out at the restaurant entrance.

“You ungrateful little b***h! I couldn’t find you at the hospital, and now I see you hiding here to eat?!”

A man and a woman stormed in. The man was well-dressed, around fifty, with a face full of sternness. The woman beside him was covered in jewelry—gold, diamonds, everything sparkling—clearly a nouveau riche.

When the woman they targeted saw them, her face went pale. Fear filled her eyes.

“Dad… Aunt Xu… what are you doing here?”

The woman in jewelry pointed at her and snapped, “What are we doing here? If we hadn’t come, you’d be dragging all three of us down with that little b*****d!”

“Get up and come back with us. Young Master Lu is waiting. Do you want to ruin everything?!”

The man’s face was dark. “Yan’er, are you really planning to throw away your future for a child that isn’t even yours?”

“I’ve never seen anyone so happy to raise someone else’s kid. Are you doing this just to anger me to death?!”

The woman stepped forward. “Huang Luoyan, wake up!”

“Come home with us. Once you’re back, we’ll send that brat to the orphanage. Maybe she’ll get adopted. If not—then that’s fate.”

They were fierce and aggressive, not holding back at all.

But Huang Luoyan suddenly stood up.

“Dad, Aunt Xu, I’m not getting married. I made a promise to that man—I said I’d raise Tuantuan no matter how hard it got!”

“I, Huang Luoyan, will never betray my friends. Now that Tuantuan is sick, I won’t abandon her!”

“You!” The man’s face twisted in rage, and he raised his hand, about to slap her.

Before the blow landed, the little girl jumped off the chair and stood protectively in front of Huang Luoyan. Her tiny arms stretched out to shield her.

“You’re bad! Don’t bully my mom!”

Her voice was soft and childish, but her eyes were determined.

“You little pest! If it weren’t for you, she wouldn’t be so stupid. Why don’t you just die with your sickness!” Aunt Xu snapped with venom.

Her words were so vicious that several nearby guests couldn’t help but speak up.

“How can you talk to a child like that?!”

“That’s too much!”

Others echoed in protest.

Shen Wuxiao was watching the whole scene unfold with mild interest.

Hong Ye chuckled and asked, “Young Master Shen, since when did you become so fascinated with other people’s family drama?”

Shen Wuxiao turned to her with a lazy grin. “Not really. I’ve just seen this play before.”

“What do you mean?” Hong Ye asked, puzzled.

He gestured toward Huang Luoyan. “She’s beautiful, right? And beautiful women are always targeted.”

“From what they’re yelling about, it’s obvious the child isn’t hers. She’s raising someone else’s kid. Her family doesn’t approve. That kind of anger—they must have already promised her hand to someone else.”

“Now that the time’s come, they want to force her into marriage. First step? Get rid of the child. But she’s resisting.”

“And that means…” He paused, eyes narrowing in amusement. “Here comes the man who wants her.”

Hong Ye nodded thoughtfully. “Then let me guess… The child’s father must be someone very powerful?”

“And when everything hits rock bottom… that’s when you show up and save them?”

Shen Wuxiao’s eyes lit up.

He hadn’t thought of it that way, but what Hong Ye said made perfect sense.

“Could that little girl’s father be another protagonist of destiny?” he muttered under his breath.

He began to imagine the scenario in his mind:

A call for help from his daughter… The God of War returns! Thirty elite fighters land in Dragon Country. The world trembles. That man… has come back!

“Pfft—” Shen Wuxiao snorted, barely holding back a laugh.

The God of War discovers his daughter lives in a doghouse. Furious, he orders a hundred thousand men to build a dog mansion…

Ridiculous!

But Shen Wuxiao didn’t dwell on it. If a protagonist appeared, the system would alert him. Then, it was just a matter of killing them for points.

After all, he was the harvester of luck.

Back at the scene, things were spiraling out of control.

Huang Luoyan held her ground. Her parents remained aggressive. The little girl cried. Onlookers were outraged.

Yet Shen Wuxiao and Hong Ye continued eating as though nothing was happening.

Right then, just as Shen Wuxiao predicted, a luxury Rolls-Royce pulled up outside the restaurant.

A young man stepped out. His dyed green hair was slicked back, his expression full of arrogance. Four bodyguards followed behind—two of them were third-rank warriors.

Shen Wuxiao recognized him.

Wasn’t this the green-haired guy who had forced Lin Fan to kneel at the business dinner?

Lu Tao.

They swaggered into the restaurant.

Upon seeing them, Huang Luoyan’s parents immediately changed their tone. Their expressions turned respectful.

“Young Master Lu… what brings you here?” the father asked nervously.

Lu Tao scoffed. “I asked you for one simple thing. You keep telling me there’s a delay. Two and a half months—are you kidding me?”

The couple froze, speechless.

“N-no, you misunderstood! She’s just stubborn… we’ve been trying to persuade her—”

“Persuade her?” Lu Tao sneered. “You could talk until next year and still get nowhere. Useless!”

He walked straight up to them.

At the sight of such a powerful figure, the crowd that had been criticizing moments ago immediately went silent.

Many recognized Lu Tao—he was a notorious playboy with connections. No one wanted to get involved.

When Lu Tao saw Huang Luoyan again, his gaze lingered.

She was stunning. Her long black hair cascaded gently over her shoulders. A light yellow jacket paired with a white pleated skirt gave her a soft, elegant look.

She had the air of a refined noblewoman, yet her helpless expression made her all the more fragile and appealing.

Her skin was flawless—pale, smooth, glowing even without makeup. Her delicate features, big almond eyes, and gentle demeanor stirred a man’s protective instinct.

Lu Tao swallowed. Desire gleamed in his eyes.

This woman had enchanted him. If she had been anyone else, he would’ve forced her into submission long ago.

But Huang Luoyan… she was different.

And now, his patience had run out.

He stepped closer, a sly smirk tugging at his lips.
