Chapter 46: Vaccination:

“Yue’er, I’m done. What do you think about this?” Shen Wuxiao tilted his head and listened patiently.

Jiang Huaiyue thought for a moment and replied, “Let’s first look at the relationships involved.”

“From Lin Fan’s point of view, it doesn’t matter whether Lin Chen was right or wrong. All he knows is that his brother is dead, and he wants revenge—no matter what.”

“But from an outsider’s perspective, Shen Wuxiao wasn’t just ruthless—he was also wrongly blamed.”

“Other than Zhang Wei, who arrived late to the wedding, what man could stand watching someone steal his bride at the wedding banquet? A fight was bound to happen!”

Jiang Huaiyue’s analysis was sharp and fair, offering a balanced view from both sides.

“So… you’re saying both of them are right?” Shen Wuxiao asked.

Jiang Huaiyue nodded. “From an overall perspective, and especially as warriors, that’s how it looks.”

“Lin Fan’s brother barged into the wedding to snatch the bride and even tried to hurt someone in front of everyone. Getting killed for that? He brought it on himself.”

“Lin Fan seeking revenge for his brother is also perfectly understandable.”

“And Shen Wuxiao had every right to fight back. He was the victim in this situation. No man would just stand there while someone tries to take his bride and beat him up!”

Shen Wuxiao laughed lightly. “My wife really has a unique way of thinking. I thought you’d be one of those who would say, ‘Shen Wuxiao must die!’ and support Lin Fan no matter what.”

Jiang Huaiyue rolled her eyes. “Lin Fan and I are comrades, so of course I’m a little biased. But not blindly.”

“I didn’t get involved because I cared too much. I just came to help Lin Fan out of duty.”

Shen Wuxiao nodded and asked, “What if Lin Fan and Shen Wuxiao are both using dirty tactics in their battle?”

This time, Jiang Huaiyue answered without hesitation.

“When two mortal enemies clash, everything—schemes, tricks, lies—is just part of the fight. It’s all about the result.”

“When I fought enemies at the border, I used plenty of underhanded methods myself.”

“In life-or-death situations like this, only the outcome matters. Both sides have deep grudges and will fight to the bitter end.”

“But as Lin Fan’s comrade, I naturally hoped he would win, which is why I helped him without knowing the full story.”

Shen Wuxiao smiled. “What if you and Lin Fan were mortal enemies?”

Jiang Huaiyue looked confused at first, then leaned toward Shen Wuxiao with a grin. “Are you jealous? Why else would you ask that?”

Shen Wuxiao didn’t hide it. “Of course I’m jealous. Isn’t that normal?”

“You came all this way for Lin Fan. Your relationship with him must be deep. How could I not be jealous?”

Jiang Huaiyue gave a soft smile, her heart warming. But she still answered seriously.

“If you and Lin Fan became life-or-death enemies, I could only step back. I wouldn’t help either of you. I wouldn’t want to see the result.”

“Lin Fan is my comrade-in-arms. He’s helped me a lot, and we’ve built a strong bond.”

“But I wouldn’t stand by and watch him hurt you. If it came to that, I’d stand with you!”

Shen Wuxiao finally felt at ease after hearing her answer. He had been thinking about this too.

He knew that sooner or later, he and Lin Fan would face each other. And when that time came, Jiang Huaiyue would be caught in the middle.

Originally, Shen Wuxiao had thought that if Jiang Huaiyue chose Lin Fan’s side, he wouldn’t hesitate to kill her, no matter how reluctant he felt. There were plenty of women in the world, and he wasn’t someone who’d be held back because of one.

But the ideal outcome, of course, was for Jiang Huaiyue to stay by his side.

Now it seemed Jiang Huaiyue had her own views, and the situation wouldn’t turn out so badly after all.

After applying the medicine, Shen Wuxiao pulled Jiang Huaiyue into his arms.

“Hey! The medicine hasn’t dried yet!” Jiang Huaiyue complained softly.

“Whatever, baby—kiss first!”

Shen Wuxiao wrapped his arm around her neck and kissed her.

Though helpless, Jiang Huaiyue slowly returned the kiss.

After a long, tender moment, she got up to make a midnight snack while Shen Wuxiao stayed on the sofa.

Not long after, his phone rang.

He looked at the screen: it showed “fraud call.”

Isn’t this bastard Lin Fan?

Shen Wuxiao answered. “Hello?”

“Brother Sikong, it’s me, Lin Fan. Why was your phone turned off?” Lin Fan’s voice sounded weak, and the wind in the background roared loudly.

Shen Wuxiao chuckled coldly. “The phone broke. Just got it fixed. What’s going on, Brother Lin Fan?”

“I’ve been exposed. A foreign bounty hunter found me last night and attacked me!”

Shen Wuxiao pretended to be shocked. “Are you okay? Still alive?”

Lin Fan paused, then said, “I’m fine. He was just a bounty hunter—I killed him.”

“But it cost me. I got a bit injured.”

Shen Wuxiao almost laughed out loud. This guy got beat up badly last night but now acts like nothing happened.

“I’m glad you’re safe. Are you in a secure place now?”

“Yeah. We’re hiding in an abandoned factory. It’s the only option for now.”

Shen Wuxiao said deliberately, “Why don’t you come stay with me? No one would think to look for you here.”

Lin Fan refused immediately. “No need. I just called to let you know I changed locations. In case you go looking for me at the old spot and get caught. That would be a mess!”

At least he’s loyal enough to give a heads-up.

“Alright, don’t worry. I haven’t gone anywhere lately. I’ve been staying with my woman.”

“Your woman?” Lin Fan teased playfully. “Sounds like you two are getting along well!”

“Of course. She’s so beautiful, I can’t let her go!” Shen Wuxiao glanced toward the kitchen.

Lin Fan laughed. “Lucky you. You better show her how manly you are!”

Shen Wuxiao grinned. “Definitely. She’s cooking right now. Once we eat, it’ll be another wonderful night.”

If Lin Fan knew the woman Shen Wuxiao was talking about was Jiang Huaiyue, the one he missed so much… he might just break down.

Shen Wuxiao called out toward the kitchen, “Baby! Fry me two eggs—I need to recover my strength!”

Jiang Huaiyue stepped out slightly and smiled. “Didn’t you say you weren’t hungry? Men!”

“I’m hungry now!”

“Alright, wait a bit,” she replied before going back to the stove.

Shen Wuxiao said into the phone, “Brother Lin Fan, I’ll leave it here. I’m making supper with my woman. Call me if you need anything.”

He hung up.

Lin Fan stared at the phone, stunned.

He had clearly heard a woman’s voice just now.

That voice haunted his dreams—it was Jiang Huaiyue’s!

But he shook his head. Must’ve misheard.

Jiang Huaiyue had a cold, serious personality.

She always sounded aloof, no matter who she was talking to.

The woman on the phone sounded warm and cheerful. Even if their voices were identical, they couldn’t be the same person.

Jiang Huaiyue was stationed at the border, and she didn’t even know Brother Sikong. How could she be his woman?

Just based on her tone, her smile, and the fact that she cooked for a man—she couldn’t possibly be Jiang Huaiyue!
