Chapter 337: 336 Three Great Guardians
At noon, the sun blazed overhead.
The slightly hot rays shone on a somewhat messy forest clearing, forcing the vampire girl in a formal gown to be exposed to the sunlight.
The beautiful girl stood under the blazing sun, her expression dull and her eyes lifeless, a sight that could make anyone think she was suffering from heat stroke.
However, in reality, not a single drop of sweat emerged from her excessively pale skin, nor did it show even a slight hint of color.
Shalltear just stood there, waiting for the enemy’s arrival.
"Sha... Sha..."
Before long, a series of faint but distinct footsteps approached from a distance.
Ainz then appeared before Shalltear at a slow pace.
As previously mentioned, Ainz had come to challenge Shalltear to a duel.
"Is it finally starting?"
Reiger’s figure appeared on a distant hill, watching Ainz slowly approaching Shalltear, looking as if he had been waiting for a long time.
Of course, Reiger was not the only one who had been waiting here for a long time; there were others waiting for his arrival.
"Come on, stop hiding."
Reiger didn’t even glance around, he simply called out.
"Do you guys never get tired of lurking around me? Come out!"
At the sound of his voice, several figures appeared around Reiger, only after a slight delay.
They were three beings of extreme individuality, one might even say, to an extreme degree.
They positioned themselves in front of, to the left, and to the right of Reiger, forming a triangle, thoroughly surrounding him.
To the left was an alien creature emitting a chill.
It stood 250 centimeters tall with a massive body, resembling a bipedal insect. Its skin was light blue like ice, with a tail twice as long as its body. Its body was covered with sharp ice-like spikes, and it held a silver halberd in its hands, resembling some alien being designed for slaughter, extremely eerie.
To the right was a demon Reiger had encountered before.
With an oriental-looking face, dressed in a British suit as if a gentleman, he emanated an evil aura. Behind him, a tail wrapped in silver metal with six spikes at the tip swayed, surrounded by faint black flames, indicating without a doubt that he was a true demon, not just a human-looking one.
In front was a warrior with distinctly graceful female features.
She wore a full suit of armor, black and covered with spikes, making her also appear demonic. The metal gloves on her hands had claws, and one hand held a menacing axe, signaling to others that although she was a woman, she was potentially even more dangerous than the other two beings.
These three nefarious beings now stood in front of Reiger, staring intently at him, filling the air with a terribly oppressive atmosphere.
Bearing such pressure, Reiger remained composed, which only made him appear more unusual to others.
"You really think highly of me."
Reiger’s gaze moved across the insect warrior, the demonic gentleman, and the axe-bearing female warrior.
"Nasalik Underground Tomb’s Fourth Floor Guardian—Cocytus."
"Nasalik Underground Tomb’s Seventh Floor Guardian—Demiurge."
"Nasalik Underground Tomb’s Guardian Chief—Albedo."
"To send three Guardians all at once to me, I’m indeed flattered."
Upon hearing Reiger’s words, which completely contradicted the calm expression on his face, all three Guardians of the Nasalik Underground Tomb unleashed their killing intent and hostility.
Clearly, Reiger’s arrival was extremely unwelcome.
"Reiger Brillhaut."
Albedo was the first to speak.
She coldly stared at Reiger, poised to attack at any moment, every move radiating hostility.
"Although it’s not what I intended, since Lord Ainz said we mustn’t be rude to you, we will naturally comply."
Following Albedo, Demiurge spoke up.
"You may observe the battle here, but for Lord Ainz’s safety, you must remain here."
Demiurge spoke matter-of-factly, seemingly less malicious than Albedo who showed obvious hostility, yet if one were to see the darkness hidden in his eyes, they would know his hostility towards Reiger was no less intense.
The last to speak was Cocytus.
"From now on, you may not move forward another step."
The chilling Insect King tapped the ground heavily with his silver halberd clutched in his hand.
Suddenly, the ground began to freeze, and the chill started to spread out, gradually covering the entire hill with ice.
"I see." Reiger glanced at the hill turned into an ice mountain, casually laughing, "So you were sent to watch over me?"
The three Guardians said nothing, seemingly agreeing with Reiger’s statement.
"You really are fond of worrying over nothing." Reiger calmly stated, "Rest assured, I am here only to watch the battle today, with no other intention. I won’t do anything sneaky as you might imagine."
