Chapter 702: I don’t hate Morgan

Chapter 702: I don’t hate Morgan

To be honest, Reiger really didn’t understand why, after suffering such treatment, the Paradise Fairy still insisted on saving Britannia, saving the fairies.

From her time as Vivian, known as the Fairy Era of 4000 years ago, to the present Fairy Era of 400 years, there had indeed been a full 3600 years in between.

For a whole 3600 years, she had managed to persist amidst constant persecution, striving to eliminate the threats brought about by the "calamity" and saving the fairies who persecuted her, which could no longer be described simply as goodness.

The Paradise Fairy was obviously not just a naive do-gooder either, otherwise, she wouldn’t have developed mistrust, vigilance, and even hatred towards fairies.

Yet even so, she still persisted in saving Britannia, and Reiger really couldn’t understand what the Paradise Fairy was thinking.

Of course, this was an emotional issue.

If one were to consider it rationally, there were still reasons that could explain why the Paradise Fairy kept doing so.

For instance, she had started her life in happiness in Orkney, dearly cherished by the Rain Clan and had vowed to create a wondrous fairy-tale kingdom, a dream that did not fade even after the destruction of the Rain Clan, hence her relentless efforts to save Britannia again and again.

Another reason could be that her survival from the destruction of the Rain Clan was not without reason. Influenced by this reason, her insistence on saving this country could also be understood.

But these were merely objective reasons.

From Reiger’s perspective, no matter how significant the reasons were, after enduring so much suffering and seeing the true nature of the fairies, he should have learned his lesson and realized that the fairies of Fairy Country Britania were beyond redemption, right?

Was this truly the time to turn dark, not turning dark, and then ironically choosing to turn dark when she shouldn’t?

Anyway, in Reiger’s view, the Paradise Fairy should have turned dark long ago, instead of, as now, still hating fairies and yet going against her true feelings to save them, just for this so-called Britannia.

Therefore, Reiger unusually spoke a few more words.

"This indecisive way of doing things will eventually kill you, even kill those around you," he said.

Reiger’s voice slowly reached the Paradise Fairy’s ears.

"By that time, it will be too late for regrets."

Upon hearing this, the Paradise Fairy remained silent for a very long time.

After a while, she suddenly laughed, her laugh filled with irony.

"That doesn’t sound like something someone who constantly calls Morgan a witch would say," said the Paradise Fairy, "According to what you’ve said before, Queen Morgan is a heartless witch who only rules Britannia without saving fairies, hence she was considered a false queen by the Mirror Clan, prompting a new savior to defeat her and be crowned the true king, isn’t it?"

"From what you’re saying and your attitude now, you seem less like the companion of that future savior and more like the companion of the witch you talk about, thinking that fairies aren’t worth saving."

"If that’s the case, why would you still choose to become companions with Altoria Castle and be enemies with Morgan, who shares your views?"

This was quite a sharp remark.

But logically, this was indeed the case.

Reiger’s viewpoints, rather than aligning with Altoria, actually more closely resembled Morgan’s.

It was indeed a contradiction and puzzling for him to see Morgan, who shared his view of fairies, as a witch and to be her enemy.

To this, Reiger only wanted to say,

"I call her a witch not because I disagree with her ways but because she abducted me without a word, exploiting loopholes to make me powerless against her and to enter into a marital relationship, which I mildly protest against," he explained without any emotion.

"As for being her enemy, it is not for Britannia or those fairies unworthy of saving, but simply a desire to have a conclusive end with her."

"Also, I regard Altoria as a companion, not because I want to save the fairies or Britannia, but simply because I think that such a fool should not be manipulated by some paradise mission like you."

"If someday she truly believes the fairies of Britannia are worth saving, I will respect her decision but will not assist her in this matter; I would only intervene to save her life if necessary."

With that, Reiger looked again at the Paradise Fairy.

"Being a fairy of Paradise, gifted with the fairy’s eye, you should be able to tell if I’m lying, right?" he asked.

"So let me tell you in advance," he continued.

"Actually, I don’t dislike Morgan."

"Of course, that doesn’t mean I approve of her as a wife."

Leaving these words behind, Reiger increased his pace, passing by the Paradise Fairy and continued deeper into the forest.

Only the Paradise Fairy was left behind, staring intently at Reiger’s retreating figure, her eyes flickering, deep in thought.

...

After walking in the forest for about half an hour, Reiger and the Paradise Fairy reached the heart of the forest.

There was a clearing, or rather a campsite, evident someone had set up camp here, and magical barriers specifically designed to repel beasts and magical creatures surrounded the area, clearly a choice habitat for the Paradise Fairy’s activities in this vicinity.

When Reiger and the Paradise Fairy arrived, the first thing they saw was a burning bonfire.

Then, a frazzled voice reached the ears of Reiger and the Paradise Fairy.

"Ah! Paradise Fairy! You’ve finally come?"

The one exclaiming so was a fairy, bustling around the bonfire.

She was a fairy so small that even a ten-year-old child was taller than her, appearing no different from a four or five-year-old girl who had casually run out.

"Is this a fairy of the Wing Clan?"

Reiger had almost immediately recognized the fairy’s clan.

Although he had never seen one before, this model of fairy was undoubtedly from the Wing Clan.

"I’m back, Tettelot."

With a smile, Altoria responded to the loud cheering fairy girl who ran over and then turned to Reiger, introducing her.

"This is one of my companions, Tettelot of the Wing Clan. Don’t be fooled by her small stature, she’s actually very strong, originating from a clan known for their generally weak combat abilities."

Of course, Reiger knew this.

Because this Tettelot of the Wing Clan was the first generation of Elf Knight.

Her abilities might not match those of special individuals like Gawain or Lancelot, but she was definitely much stronger than Bawan Xi, who was originally an Elf Knight like Tristan.

"Eh?"

Tettelot of the Wing Clan, too, only reacted now, noticing for the first time that there was someone else beside Altoria. She expressed her surprise aloud.

"Who are you?"

Hearing this, Altoria was just about to introduce Reiger but was preempted by him.

"Don’t mind me, I’m just a passerby here."

Reiger’s indifferent words made Altoria close his mouth.

He probably understood why Reiger had crafted a cloak using magic before arriving here, to cover his appearance.

Clearly, he didn’t want too many people to know what he looked like, to know he was there, to avoid influencing future generations.

Altoria, thinking this, didn’t know that Reiger was only trying to avoid revealing his identity in front of another person present.

This person was now sitting in front of the campfire, slowly standing up.

Upon closer inspection, he was a warrior dressed in a heavy suit of armor.

He was broad and robust with sturdy limbs, yet short, clearly a fairy of the Earth Clan.

Unfortunately, Reiger knew this Earth Clan fairy, having even encountered him in the future.

"He is the Black Knight, just like Tettelot, he’s also my companion," said Altoria as such.

"Just call me Black Knight," the other responded.

Gazing at Reiger, he looked him up and down, his eyes filled with subtle caution. Then, as if in consideration of Altoria, he nodded slightly to Reiger, his demeanor neither friendly nor rude.

This was somewhat surprising to Reiger.

After all, in the future, he was incredibly rude, daring to yell even at Altoria, who looked exactly like the savior and was from the same clan as Altoria, and even when he became interested in Reiger’s sword, his manner of inquiry was very blunt.

Indeed, this Black Knight was actually Ecter, living near the coast of Tintagel Village, running a Forging Master workshop, called "grandfather" by Altoria Castle.

Ecter had long known Altoria Castle, another savior from long ago, and had become one of his companions, embarking on a journey to save Britain with him, fighting alongside him for nearly two thousand years.

That’s why Ecter detested fairies, knowing how much suffering Altoria had endured from them.

That’s also why, among all those who disliked Altoria, the Paradise Fairy, Ecter, though rude, became the only one to accept her.

Reiger decided to wear the cloak to conceal his identity because the future Ecter clearly did not recognize him. It was best for him to hide his identity in front of this fairy to prevent any alterations to the future.

For this reason, Reiger even withdrew the hermit that had attracted Ecter’s attention during their first meeting back into a dimensional magic cube’s storage space. Now, he carried no weapons on him, being absolutely empty-handed.

Then, Altoria spoke up again.

"Besides Tettelot and Black Knight, I have another companion."

"He is Sage Grimm, who once taught me magic. He’s not a fairy, but a special entity known as a heroic spirit."

"He’s not here right now, so you needn’t worry about him."

In the year 2000 of the fairy era, Altoria had summoned the Norse god of wisdom with his own power and allowed him to inhabit the body of a young fairy, traveling and practicing with him.

This was Sage Grimm, akin to being half a teacher to Altoria.

Elf Knight Tettelot.

Black Knight Ecter.

Sage Grimm.

These three were Altoria’s companions, the saviors’ helpers.
