Chapter 646: 508 I actually saved her? _2
"[Message]."
Reiger once again reached out to Alberon.
Before long, Alberon responded.
"Where have you gone? Altoria has arrived, yet you were nowhere to be seen, making that girl almost think you had been captured by Morgan again!"
Alberon’s words, half-complaint, half-teasing, made Reiger roll his eyes.
"How are things on your end?" Reiger cut straight to the chase, asking, "Did you rescue the person?"
"We did rescue them, but now they’re in a coma, unresponsive to any calls," Alberon replied, "What about you? Have you rescued the person?"
"Rescued," Reiger simply said, "Since you’ve also made a rescue, and Altoria is there, let’s meet at the entrance to the Nameless Forest as we initially planned."
"Alright, contact me after you’ve arrived, and I’ll send Blanca to pick you up," Alberon nodded and said, "There are quite a few Moors around this area, and I’m not keen on tangling with them, so I’ll take Altoria and these foreign visitors to a safe place to hide. Is that alright?"
"Do as you see fit," Reiger replied expressionlessly, "After all, it’s not like you could possibly die at the hands of the Moors, right?"
"You really think highly of me," Alberon seemed not to detect the deeper meaning in Reiger’s words, laughed helplessly, "But I’ll reiterate, don’t rely too much on me when it comes to fighting; my combat abilities are probably even weaker than the fairies from the Wing Clan. You’d be better off relying on Altoria, a potential powerhouse of the future."
The Wing Clan was a fairy clan completely opposite to the Tusk Clan.
The fairies of the Tusk Clan all have fierce, beast-like appearances and strong powers. Even without specific training, they’re generally stronger than fairies from other clans.
The Wing Clan, however, is different. They are very small in size, similar in size to the tiny fairies in conversation, with some even small enough to sit in the palm of a human hand—a naturally frail fairy clan.
Therefore, the fairies of the Wing Clan are generally very vigilant. Like Mourine, they hardly ever step out of their territories; even if the queen herself gives an order, they dare to openly disobey it.
Of course, there are strong individuals within the Wing Clan. Mourine herself has a bloodline very close to Alberon’s, and although she can’t regress like Gawain and Woodworth, she is still quite exceptional among fairies.
Unfortunately, this belongs to the individual exception; the average member of the Wing Clan is quite weak, which is why they are often looked down upon by the Tusk Clan, and a longstanding enmity has developed between the two clans from a very long time ago.
Similar rivalries exist between the Wind Clan and the Earth Clan.
The Wind Clan is naturally beautiful and as perceptive as the legendary elves.
The Earth Clan is naturally short but stocky, much like the legendary dwarves.
And as is well known, in legends, the relationship between elves and dwarves is not good, often leading to disputes.
This is also reflected in the Earth Mistake World.
The best example is Revilia and Grace, the two heads of Loki’s clan.
One is an elf, the other a dwarf. At first glance, they seem to get along well, but many years ago, Revilia and Grace would bicker upon meeting, engaging in small quarrels ten times a day and major disputes every three days—a rather poor relationship.
Even now, the two occasionally argue in private, but compared to before, their relationship has improved significantly.
It’s the same with the Wind Clan and the Earth Clan. Despite Aurora’s interactions with Spurgen, and Aurora seeking help from the Earth Clan of Norwich for the reconstruction of Salisbury, employing many craftsmen from the Earth Clan, if it hadn’t been Aurora, known for her gentleness, and the notoriously free city of Salisbury, opposing clan prejudices, it’s doubtful the deal would have gone through.
The relationship between the Tusk Clan and the Wing Clan is equally terrible, so much so that the two clans have waged war in the past, leading to heavy casualties for the Wing Clan; now it’s rare to see them outside.
If Alberon really claims his fighting abilities are weaker than the fairies of the Wing Clan, then there genuinely wouldn’t be much to expect from him.
However...
"Is that possible?"
Reiger voiced his doubt.
Setting everything else aside, in works like "A Midsummer Night’s Dream," Alberon is commonly portrayed as a powerful yet capricious character.
In some versions of the stories, Alberon is even depicted as a powerful fairy who can fulfill others’ wishes.
So, even if just considering myths and tales, the Fairy King Alberon couldn’t possibly be that weak, could he?
Not to mention, Alberon’s origins are not just that simple.
"It’s not... You’re using this to make a point about me?"
Alberon seemed to be scratching his head, looking troubled.
"Indeed, in various works, I am portrayed as having great power, but you should know that the existence of Servants (Heroic Spirits) is actually shaped by the beliefs people hold about them, a shadow of their former selves. A Servant (Heroic Spirit) can only become powerful if their beliefs and legends are strong and rich in the human world, otherwise, it’s a different story altogether."
"And whether it’s ’A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ or any other work, at best, they are merely literature or even stage plays. When it comes to the spread, intensity of belief, and strength of legend, how can they possibly compare to the legends of Britain’s King Arthur?"
"Anyway, I feel like, no matter what, I can never be more famous than King Arthur and the like."
This was Alberon’s view.
It sounded plausible, but the truth of the matter was likely known only to him.
"Anyway, don’t count on me for fighting, I’m only really good at gathering information."
At this point, Alberon even seemed a bit resigned.
"Since you’ve said as much, I’ll take it at face value," Reiger replied nonchalantly, then changed the subject, "So, as you’ve suggested, I will bring people over to rendezvous with you later."
"OK." Alberon agreed readily, "Then I’ll take Altoria and leave the Nameless Forest first. Being here too long, I’m really worried one of us might run into trouble."
Reiger nodded and disconnected the [message].
"Hmm..."
As if she had timed it, the girl lying on the beach suddenly moaned and her eyelids began to flutter.
"Are you awake?"
Reiger immediately turned his attention to her.
Under Reiger’s gaze, the girl slowly opened her eyes.
...
Meanwhile, on the coast of the Nameless Forest.
"Disconnected."
Feeling that the connection with Reiger’s side was broken, Alberon opened his eyes and saw a displeased Altoria standing in front of him.
"... Have you finished talking?"
Altoria puffed her face, seemingly holding a grudge.
Reiger hadn’t contacted her, but instead had reached out to the newly joined Alberon twice, leaving Altoria to wonder if Reiger didn’t trust her abilities, hence his choice to communicate with Alberon.
This caused the fairy girl to sulk, and up until just now, she was muttering something, looking like she wanted to prove herself but not knowing how to do it properly.
"All done," Alberon seemed amused by Altoria’s little mind games, first smiling and then saying, "He’s rescued someone on his side, now we can leave the Nameless Forest and wait outside to meet up with him."
"Is that so," Altoria continued to sulk, "Since we’ve decided, then let’s hurry up and go."
Saying this, Altoria turned and walked toward where several people were lying.
Watching her, Alberon fell into a brief contemplation.
After a moment, Alberon suddenly spoke, asking a question.
"Are you very familiar with Reiger Brillhaut?"
At his words, Altoria stopped in her tracks.
