Chapter 3 Scouring for Supplies

Su Miaomiao also forced herself to eat what he gave her, wanting to regain her strength quickly.

Cheng Hao then quickly changed out of his wedding robe into plain green casual wear, and then put the clothes they had taken off into his spatial storage.

Everything in this room had already been looted by him.

Only some large furniture was left behind.

Cheng Hao finally crouched down in front of Su Miaomiao. He had done this countless times before. Ever since he could carry Su Miaomiao, he had carried her many times.

Of course, Su Miaomiao, this oddity, had also carried him quite a bit. It was only when their physical differences became significant that this stopped, not because she couldn't carry him, but because Cheng Hao wouldn't let her, as it was too embarrassing.

Su Miaomiao could clearly feel her strength gradually returning and stopped fussing. She obediently climbed onto his back, letting Cheng Hao carry her. Cheng Hao naturally picked her up and walked out.

Outside, the maids and servants were in chaos, all frantically grabbing things.

The steward was yelling desperately, but no one stopped to listen to him.

Their lives were at risk.

Who cared about master or servant when everyone was grabbing things and running away?

Cheng Hao didn't need to say anything; Su Miaomiao instinctively hugged him tightly like a koala.

He muttered a couple of complaints inwardly before heaving her onto his back and heading towards the kitchen he remembered.

The large truck that had almost hit them earlier had braked just before impact. Cheng Hao, after hugging Su Miaomiao, had rolled into a convenience store nearby.

When the back of his head hit the glass door hard, Cheng Hao felt his vision go black. When he opened his eyes again, he was already in the front yard at the banquet. His friends and family were urging him, "What are you spacing out for? Go toast them! The bride has just been sent to the bridal chamber."

As Cheng Hao's consciousness returned, his memories also flooded back. He understood that he was currently getting married, had already completed the ceremony, and was in the process of toasting. Soon, they would go back to the bridal chamber for the wedding night rituals.

Looking at his wedding robe, he understood everything. He was worried, thinking about how much trouble Su Miaomiao would cause if she knew he had married someone else. Then, the information about Su Miaomiao appeared in his memory.

Cheng Hao realized that the person he was marrying in this life was also named Su Miaomiao.

The figure in his memory was indeed Su Miaomiao, just much younger.

Seeing this, Cheng Hao felt relieved, convinced that she had also transmigrated with him.

He was secretly delighted, imagining what Su Miaomiao's reaction would be if she suddenly woke up and knew they were married. He thought she would never escape his grasp again.

Just then, a young servant suddenly rushed in with a stranger.

Cheng Hao saw the stranger whisper a few words to his father in this life, who then changed his expression drastically. Cheng Hao moved closer to listen and caught a part of the conversation. It fit the current situation, and he immediately understood what had happened. He then took the opportunity to slip away and pick up Su Miaomiao when people started to panic.

He had to admit.

He had done the right thing. If he had been a moment later, this girl would have screamed herself hoarse.

Cheng Hao, carrying Su Miaomiao on his back, was so angry that he slapped her on the bottom. Su Miaomiao, inexplicably hit, let out a yelp and bit his shoulder.

Cheng Hao hissed in pain, and realizing her strength was returning, he was also pleasantly surprised.

But biting was indeed painful.

Su Miaomiao said indignantly, "Serves you right! Why did you hit me all of a sudden?"

Cheng Hao retorted while weaving through the crowd, "You deserve to be hit if you don't behave!"

Su Miaomiao became more energetic, kicking her feet and protesting, "How was I not behaving?"

Cheng Hao couldn't stand her hoarse voice and said, "Take it easy with that voice of yours!"

Su Miaomiao finally understood what he was angry about and stopped fussing. She rested her head on his shoulder and grunted, saying smugly, "You know to care now, but where were you before!"

Cheng Hao had no way to deal with her regarding this matter. However, the fact that they were safe and together was enough to make him breathe a sigh of relief, feeling that other things were not significant problems.

"If you want to live, then behave. You don't want us to go through that again, do you?"

What Cheng Hao didn't say was that no one knew if they would be lucky enough to have another life.

Su Miaomiao also thought of this. She buried her head in his neck and took a breath before muttering, "I know..."

Cheng Hao's goal in weaving through the crowd was the kitchen. There must have been a lot of ingredients for today's banquet. The food hadn't even been fully served yet, and now everyone was rushing for valuables. The main kitchen was also deserted, and the servants hadn't yet considered the importance of food.

After all, carrying some gold and jade ornaments to a safe place could be exchanged for money.

Why would they bother with such troublesome, perishable food?

Cheng Hao had anticipated this.

The Cheng family's treasure vault was certainly inaccessible now, and the key was with his father in this life. He could only scavenge for anything useful to him and Su Miaomiao.

When Cheng Hao transmigrated, he had brought that convenience store with him.

That convenience store, though small, had everything. It had some of everything, but it still fell short compared to a large supermarket. It was impossible to satisfy their needs for food and clothing for decades, so they had to continue to collect supplies.

Cheng Hao worried that there would be decades of unrest here. If that were the case, he would have to take Su Miaomiao into the deep mountains and forests to live as savages.

Su Miaomiao also learned more about Cheng Hao from his words. When she heard about the convenience store, she was ecstatic, muttering, "...chocolate, egg yolk pastries, sandwiches..."

Cheng Hao thought she was probably hungry, but for now, they had to wait until things stabilized.

He entered the empty main kitchen carrying Su Miaomiao on his back, then put her down and locked the door.

Su Miaomiao had regained some strength and was much better than before. Seeing the dishes, she couldn't stop swallowing. She was so hungry that her stomach felt acidic. Those two chocolates earlier weren't enough.

Cheng Hao turned around and saw Su Miaomiao's reaching claws heading for the greasy roasted chicken legs. He was startled and quickly grabbed her hand, taking out her favorite sandwiches and yogurt from his spatial storage and shoving them into her hands.

"What are you eating roasted chicken for now? Is your brain for decoration? Your stomach can't handle something so greasy, can it?"

Su Miaomiao, seeing her favorite food, immediately opened the packaging and started eating.

She was too lazy to argue with Cheng Hao anymore.

She was truly hungry.

Cheng Hao saw her like that and told her to eat slowly. He himself went to the side to collect everything.

There was a long table with twenty-three dishes, over a dozen steamer baskets of meat and vegetable buns, eight large baskets of washed and cleaned vegetables, and eight large baskets of unopened wedding cakes and pastries.

There were over twenty chickens, ducks, and geese hanging, large pieces of braised pork trotters, a basket of red-shelled eggs, a basin of fresh fish not yet killed, and various seasonings like oil, salt, soy sauce, vinegar, and tea.

Cheng Hao collected the ingredients into his spatial storage, along with the remaining grains and cereals. He even took the new large pots, bowls, chopsticks, and the firewood he had brought in.

Su Miaomiao found his overly solicitous "mother hen" demeanor amusing.

Cheng Hao, apart from being as mischievous as her when they were young, was a model student after growing up. He had good grades and excelled in his extracurricular activities. He was a model student with both excellent academics and character!
