Su Miaomiao immediately walked towards him and then said to the two children who had returned, "Since you've found a water source, call a few more people to fetch water. It would also be good to store some boiled hot water for us."
Xiao Wuzi and Xiao Liuzi were both full of excitement. They hadn't expected that their young mistress, by pointing to that spot and saying there was water, would actually find it.
They were very excited when they truly found it, feeling it was magical.
Their eyes were filled with admiration, and they followed Su Miaomiao's words as if they were gospel. They readily agreed and then watched her back as she left.
Suddenly, they saw Lai Fu, still shaken, and dutifully called him "Ge," but their eyes held a hint of confusion, wondering what was wrong with him.
Lai Fu was only eleven years old and still a boisterous kid, but he was quick and diligent with his work, so he had always followed Uncle Ji.
He was Uncle Ji's apprentice, and the young servants all called him "Ge."
Xiao Wuzi and Xiao Liuzi were also just over ten years old, not much younger than him.
Lai Fu was quite familiar with them. Young boys were proud and afraid of being embarrassed about their fear of heights, so he waved his hand with a show of nonchalance, telling them to ask Uncle Ji for water buckets while he went to find more people.
They needed to fetch water.
After all, they didn't have much strength, so they had to find strong people.
He then scurried away, afraid of being questioned by the two children about what he was scared of.
Although Xiao Wuzi and Xiao Liuzi found Lai Fu a bit strange, they didn't think much of it and cheerfully went to get the water buckets without any delay.
Everyone was efficient.
Su Miaomiao walked towards Cheng Hao, muttering to herself about what he was angry about this time. She had been so good and hadn't even left the campsite.
He was still frowning at her, and she was utterly bewildered, unable to figure it out.
Cheng Hao knew she was thinking ill of him when he heard her muttering, so he called her over to walk faster, his expression still not very good.
Su Miaomiao hummed and grumbled, but her feet faithfully carried her towards him, "What's up? Why are you so fierce? What did I do to you?"
Cheng Hao had seen Su Miaomiao happily pulling Lai Fu earlier, which had irked him, but he couldn't say it directly because it would be too embarrassing.
So, he simply took her hand and said, "Stay with me and don't wander off."
He also lectured her, telling her to stay put and not to roam around everywhere.
When they were in a place where no one else could see, he lowered his voice and said, "Are you familiar with them? Talking to them so casually? You don't have memories of this place, what if you slip up?"
Su Miaomiao felt somewhat inexplicable. She retorted unhappily, "I'm not an idiot, do you think I don't know to be careful with my words? How could I possibly slip up?"
She had known him since they were childhood sweethearts for so many years, how could she not understand him?
Now he was frowning and unhappy again. It must be that she had angered him again somehow. But she was indeed sometimes clumsy and couldn't keep up with his reserved heart. Yet, she also knew what was making him unhappy.
Su Miaomiao then pouted unhappily and said, "It's always like this! What did I do to you this time? Are you picking on me again? I didn't run off, nor did I leave your sight, is that still wrong? I don't believe you'd get angry just because I spoke a few words with them. You're not that petty, are you?"
She was utterly baffled, her little mouth babbling on and on, complaining about his occasional high-handedness, especially when it came to her safety. Cheng Hao would be somewhat overbearing and domineering, only wanting her to do as he said.
But Su Miaomiao always felt she knew what she was doing, though in reality, she didn't.
Cheng Hao was usually a man of few words, especially when he was angry. He preferred to sulk, letting Su Miaomiao guess. But he would never ignore Su Miaomiao or give her the cold shoulder; he wouldn't engage in emotional cold wars with her. He would still cook for her, and take care of her during her period as usual.
And so on.
But he would never tell her explicitly why he was unhappy!
Su Miaomiao had thus developed the habit of getting angry with him, but also being outwardly defiant while inwardly compliant. She would still hold his hand when appropriate and follow him.
The points of their arguments also began to shift, focusing on whether Su Miaomiao had any sense of proportion.
Cheng Hao would quietly accuse her of repeatedly challenging extreme sports alone, stating that if he hadn't held her back, she would have lost her life one day.
Su Miaomiao, on the other hand, would blabber on, arguing that she always had a sense of proportion and that the activities she chose had relatively guaranteed safety. However, she admitted that no one could guarantee 100% safety, but where in the world was there anything or any challenge that was 100% safe? She stated that she knew what she was doing.
It was all a matter of probability.
Cheng Hao, however, insisted that she truly had no sense of proportion, and if he hadn't restrained her, she would have almost gotten into trouble several times. He cited examples one, two, and three.
Talking about probability was useless to him.
He would not allow her to be in any danger, not even the slightest.
Besides, according to her so-called probability, hadn't she almost run into trouble?
When Su Miaomiao was finally spoken to, she also felt a little guilty and stopped being so stubborn. There had indeed been a few activities with rather high risks.
But she genuinely craved that thrilling and exhilarating feeling. Her favorite was parkour on rooftops, and once she had indeed almost slipped.
Su Miaomiao's confidence wavered, and she lost this argument to Cheng Hao. However, Cheng Hao clearly wasn't happy either. His handsome face was so sour that even dogs miles away would be afraid. Instead, by bringing up old arguments, his chest ached from anger.
It was truly not worth it.
This jealousy ended up being inexplicably earned.
Cheng Hao was helpless.
Su Miaomiao became even more persistent, pestering him about what he was angry about. When she couldn't get an answer, she also became angry.
Everyone in the caravan inexplicably noticed that the newly married couple, who had been so affectionate just the day before, were now arguing?
They all looked on with curiosity.
After all, their arguments were also unique, even holding hands while arguing.
They were quietly arguing about something. Although everyone didn't know what they were arguing about, they saw that their hands were held tightly. In the end, they stopped talking, but their hands didn't let go, and they went everywhere together.
The funniest part was when Cheng Hao was respectfully discussing matters with Uncle Ji, their hands were still clasped. Su Miaomiao listened from the side with a hum.
Uncle Ji couldn't help but advise, shaking his white beard and smiling, "It's common for married couples to argue. Be considerate of each other, forgive each other..."
He said that since they had just gotten married, there would surely be many aspects that needed to be reconciled.
Cheng Hao thanked him with a smile but didn't commit. When replying to the talkative Su Miaomiao, he remained stern, occasionally deliberately contradicting her.
This scene was inexplicably familiar.
Su Miaomiao was still infuriated. Back in the carriage, as Cheng Hao was taking off her shoes, she kicked him directly in the chest. Her eyes were wide open, her whole body bristled, and she wished she could scratch his face.
"Haven't I told you I don't like it when you get angry and don't say anything, just contradicting me to make me angry?! Can't you be more honest?!"
