Chapter 60 Unyielding

After Yu Jingchen finished bandaging Nan Zhiyun's knee wound, he had just put down the ointment when he felt a small tug on his sleeve. He knew without guessing who it was.

"What's wrong now?" Yu Jingchen asked, his expression somewhat helpless.

"Don't go," Nan Zhiyun said nervously. She always seemed to feel uneasy.

Yu Jingchen sighed softly and pulled away Nan Zhiyun's hand that was holding him. "I'm not going. Let's look at the wound on your face first. You need to apply medicine promptly."

Nan Zhiyun reluctantly let go. Yu Jingchen suddenly found it amusing. "I said I'm not going. Do you think I'll run away?"

"Don't let go..." Nan Zhiyun was a bit stubborn.

Hearing her say that, Yu Jingchen suddenly felt like teasing her. "What if I insist that you let go?"

"Don't let go," Nan Zhiyun said, repeating the same few words. Her grip tightened. Yu Jingchen was truly at a loss for what to do.

"I'll treat the wound on your face," Yu Jingchen said, truly having no other choice. The key was that he couldn't bring himself to be stern now, and he was afraid... After hearing what the imperial physician had said earlier, he was afraid that if his tone was heavy, it might stimulate Nan Zhiyun. If the situation worsened, it would be even more troublesome.

Nan Zhiyun shook her head.

"Nan Zhiyun," Yu Jingchen slightly increased his tone.

Nan Zhiyun looked at Yu Jingchen innocently. Just as Yu Jingchen was about to make his next move, Xing Lai entered.

"Your Majesty, the commoner Madam Chen has arrived at the entrance of Ya Jing Residence," Xing Lai said with his head bowed.

Before Yu Jingchen could say anything, he felt a change in Nan Zhiyun's demeanor. Yu Jingchen looked over and indeed saw that Nan Zhiyun's complexion was not good, and she exuded intense unease. However, he couldn't figure out the source of this unease. Was it fear of his attitude towards that person, or had today's events left a shadow on her?

"Do you want to see her? Or how do you want to deal with her?" Yu Jingchen asked her.

Nan Zhiyun had only been lightly holding Yu Jingchen's sleeve, but now she hugged his entire arm.

"No," Nan Zhiyun only said this one word, and Yu Jingchen couldn't figure out what she meant.

"You don't want to see her?" Yu Jingchen guessed.

"Don't go," Nan Zhiyun said.

Yu Jingchen: "..." No wonder she's holding on so tightly. But... he really wanted to ask, are you a child who just learned to speak? But then he thought about her mental state and decided it wasn't worth arguing with her.

"Make her kneel and enter," Yu Jingchen's tone was icy, and Nan Zhiyun shivered.

"Scared," Nan Zhiyun tightened her hold on Yu Jingchen's arm, and Yu Jingchen indulged her, drawing them closer. At first glance, Nan Zhiyun looked like she was leaning on Yu Jingchen.

When the commoner Madam Chen entered, she was unrecognizable. Her hair ornaments and outer robe had been removed, her face was red and swollen with slap marks, and her lips were bleeding. She had been splashed with cold water on the way because she had fainted, so her entire body was soaked, and her legs were likely ruined.

Nan Zhiyun hid behind Yu Jingchen, using his arm to shield herself, looking timid. However, she couldn't help but glance over. Upon seeing this, she could hardly believe her eyes.

"How do you want to deal with her?" Yu Jingchen, naturally noticing Nan Zhiyun's gaze, asked with his head slightly turned.
