Li Shengtian said with a calm expression, "Brother Jin, even so, you can't conclude that I killed your son. However, I do have a clue."
Jin Gong coldly reprimanded, "Stop playing coy with me, speak up, or I'll flatten your Li family today!"
Several menacing mercenaries behind Jin Gong leaned forward, their hands instinctively going to their guns. If Jin Gong gave the order, Li Shengtian's head would be riddled with bullets in the next second.
Li Shengtian's face twitched. He secretly clenched his fist, then revealed a slight smile, "Brother Jin, doesn't your son have a female secretary? You know that."
Jin Gong frowned. He was very familiar with Leng Qian; it was he who had instructed her to protect Jin Shikai. "What are you trying to say?"
Li Shengtian chuckled, "That female secretary has changed masters. She's now following a man named Qin Xuan."
"Qin Xuan?" Jin Gong asked, "Who is he?"
"Qin Xuan, he's just an insignificant nobody, with decent skills. But his wife is the boss of a cosmetics company, and she's connected to the Wang family's Wang Yuyan..."
Qin Xuan had just left home, preparing to pick up Tantai Yue. Tantai Yue was in her office handling affairs, with a beautiful woman in a blue business suit and bare white legs standing beside her. It was Leng Qian.
Tantai Yue glanced at her watch; it was long past closing time, but she still had some work to finish. She turned to her cold secretary and said, "Leng Qian, you can go back first. I estimate I'll need another hour or two."
Leng Qian replied in her usual icy tone, "Ms. Tan, Qin Xuan instructed me to stay by your side at all times, never leaving you. I will not leave."
Tantai Yue gave a wry smile, thinking to herself that she wasn't a prisoner, did she really need to be guarded so closely?
Just then, there was a knock on the door, followed by the voice of the receptionist from outside. "Ms. Tan, this is bad. There's a middle-aged man downstairs with several bodyguards who want to see you. The security guards can't stop them."
Tantai Yue heard this and her brows furrowed. Could something have happened again? As she stood up, the office door was violently pushed open. The receptionist was grabbed by a fierce-looking man in sunglasses and thrown to the ground, her forehead bleeding profusely. She cowered in a corner, terrified.
Seeing her company employee treated this way, Tantai Yue was furious. "Who are you? How dare you cause trouble in my company! Aren't you afraid I'll call the police and arrest you!?"
The bodyguard in sunglasses ignored Tantai Yue and kicked the office door down. Then, a middle-aged man with a sinister look on his face walked in.
As the man entered, Leng Qian's body trembled slightly. *How did he get back here?*
Before Tantai Yue could speak, the middle-aged man sneered at Leng Qian, "Well done, you traitor! You're here indeed. My son's body is barely cold, and you've already found a new master. Humph, and my Jin family raised you for over ten years, you ungrateful wretch."
Leng Qian looked at Jin Gong, hesitated for a moment, then said, "Over the past ten years, I've repaid everything. And when did your Jin family ever raise me? Didn't you just treat me like a dog to be commanded?"
Over the years, Leng Qian had been more like a killing tool. She was either killing or on her way to kill. She had helped Jin Gong eliminate many of his enemies and, in the shadows, had dealt with many of Jin Shikai's rivals. Otherwise, with Jin Shikai's character, he would have died a thousand times over by now.
"Insolent!" Jin Gong roared. "You're quite sharp-tongued. I haven't settled the score for my son's death yet!"
Leng Qian knew the main point was coming. Although Jin Shikai was an undeniable spoiled rich second-generation heir, Jin Gong only had this one son. Given Jin Gong's temper, he would never let this matter rest.
"I don't know anything," Leng Qian stated flatly.
"Humph, it doesn't matter if you don't know now. Once I drag you back, I'm sure you'll tell me everything," Jin Gong waved his hand. Several mercenaries immediately surrounded them.
Tantai Yue, standing beside them, also realized the middle-aged man's identity; he was the father of Jin Shikai, whom Qin Xuan had killed. Qin Xuan had killed Jin Shikai for her sake, so Tantai Yue naturally wouldn't reveal anything. She quickly said, "Hello, you must be Jin Shikai's father. Leng Qian was hired by me. Is there some misunderstanding?"
Jin Gong, a cunning old fox, naturally didn't believe Tantai Yue's words. He snorted, "You're associating with this woman, so you must be involved in Shikai's death as well. Take you both back for interrogation."
Several mercenaries nodded and reached out to grab Tantai Yue. Seeing this, Leng Qian was quick. She raised her leg and kicked the mercenary's hand back. The mercenary cried out in pain and quickly withdrew his hand, glaring hatefully at Leng Qian with his swollen backhand.
"Damn it, Leng Qian, I think you're asking for death!" the mercenary roared, "Attack together!"
All three were martial artists, and at the congenital mid-stage level. These three were Jin Gong's trusted subordinates. The three of them charged at Leng Qian. Leng Qian quickly moved to protect Tantai Yue. These were not ordinary mercenaries; although they were all one realm lower than her, with three of them, Leng Qian dared not be careless.
"Brothers, when we were training together before, I wanted to get my hands on this woman. Now's our chance. Take her down and bring her back, and the three of us can have fun!" The mercenary Leng Qian had kicked earlier lunged at her legs! Upon closer inspection, the mercenary's fingernails were embedded with blades. If she were caught, she would have at least five cuts.
Leng Qian's movements were swift, and she dodged the attack. Fortunately, Leng Qian wasn't wearing stockings today, only a hip-hugging skirt; otherwise, it would have restricted her movements somewhat. The other two were not idle either, attacking Leng Qian from the left and right with punches. With Tantai Yue behind her, she couldn't retreat. So, Leng Qian simply opened her arms and caught both their punches. The other man saw an excellent opportunity. He clenched his right fist, imbued it with inner energy, and then punched Leng Qian in the abdomen. Leng Qian focused her eyes, channeled her inner energy, and with a powerful shake of her arms, pushed the two men away. She then quickly brought her arms in front of her.
"Bang!" Leng Qian was repelled several steps, almost crashing into Tantai Yue.
Seeing that Leng Qian was outnumbered, Tantai Yue quickly said to her, "Leng Qian, why don't you escape first and find Qin Xuan."
Leng Qian rubbed her slightly aching arm, cast a glance at the three mercenaries, and said, "I promised Qin Xuan I would protect you completely, and I will not go back on my word. I'll hold them off for a while; you go first."
