Chapter 266 Warming Up

My ID card wasn't with me, and I'd already lost track of where it went. Yan'nan hadn't brought hers either. After a lot of pleading with the staff, we managed to get a room for the night by paying a ten thousand deposit. However, they could only give us one room because it wasn't a standard hotel room, but a special private suite reserved for distinguished guests. They only charged a deposit, no room fee, and the extra thousand yuan wasn't for the room, but for service.

So, even if the police checked, it wouldn't be their fault, much like that classic line from Santa Claus: as long as you're flying and not paying, you're not really flying!

On the third floor, we entered the room. It was by the window, overlooking the open-air swimming pool. It was late at night, and there were no other guests. The water was still and quiet, like a sheet of green glass.

I was exhausted. After a quick wash, I plugged in my phone and lay down on the double bed, but I couldn't sleep no matter how I turned.

Yan'nan found a large bathrobe and put it on like a dress. She sat on a chair, tucked her feet under her, and just stared at me. I was used to her attitude towards me, so I pretended she wasn't there.

I tossed and turned for over half an hour but still couldn't sleep. I turned on my phone and found a game channel, casually watching it. Gradually, sleepiness washed over me.

I only remember before I fell asleep, I turned over and said to Yan'nan, "Help me turn off the TV, please..."

Yan'nan seemed unable to find the TV switch and just pulled out the power cord. The air conditioning wasn't on, and the room was a bit chilly. I woke up in the middle of the night to use the restroom and found Yan'nan lying on the bed too. She was occupying a very small space, about thirty centimeters on the other side of the double bed. She lay on her side, completely straight from head to toe, not using a pillow but resting her head on her arm.

After using the restroom, I came back groggily and lay down in the warm covers. I reached out and touched Yan'nan's exposed arm. It was so cold, like a ghost.

"Don't catch a cold, get under the covers and sleep!" I said.

"...There are no more covers," Yan'nan replied.

This was a single room, and there was only one large duvet. We could have asked the front desk for another, but it was already three in the morning. There were hardly any guests in this hotel anyway, and I figured the front desk staff were probably asleep in the duty room. Never mind, they had already been very accommodating, so we shouldn't bother them further. I lifted the duvet: "Come here!"

"Huh?" Yan'nan twisted her head a hundred and eighty degrees, startling me. The thought that she was an eagle's action somehow made me feel a bit better. If she were human, her neck would surely have snapped!

"Sleep here, it's warmer," I said.

The eagle demon hesitated. Perhaps after flying for so long tonight, she had indeed caught a chill. She twisted her body another hundred and eighty degrees, turning over. She picked up a corner of the duvet and draped it over herself.

"That won't be enough. I told you to come over. If you stretch out like that, you'll take all the warmth from my covers," I said with a laugh. She was just an old eagle, why was she so shy?

"Oh." Yan'nan burrowed towards me, still maintaining a significant distance.

I directly reached out and grabbed the tie of her bathrobe, "Come here, you!"

Accidentally, I pulled the bathrobe open. The eagle demon seemed not to notice and rolled over again, moving to the middle of the bed, leaving the bathrobe behind.

I couldn't help but stare for a moment. To avoid any impulsive actions, I quickly covered her with the duvet and then put my arm around her shoulders to warm her up.

It was like hugging a block of ice. After about ten minutes, Yan'nan's body finally warmed up. She was lying on her side, facing away from me. I slightly lifted my head to look at her eyes; they were already closed, and her breathing had become steady, as if she were asleep.

As far as I could recall, this was the first time I had seen Yan'nan sleep so soundly.

I gently pulled the duvet up around her neck. Then I stopped hugging her for warmth and turned over, lying flat on my back. I found a comfortable position. There was about ten centimeters between us, both covered by the duvet, and neither of us disturbing the other. It was good.

An eagle's body temperature should be higher than a human's. Anyway, for the rest of the night, I didn't feel cold. With Yan'nan in the bed, it had been warm and cozy.

I slept very comfortably, all the way until morning. When I woke up, I felt something pressing on my chest. I opened my eyes and saw that the sky outside was bright. Yan'nan's head was resting on my chest, and her drool was all over me. Inside the covers, one of her legs and half of her body had also pressed over, no wonder I felt so warm. Turns out I had an extra quilt!

Fortunately, her weight was very light. If it had been someone with Lu Qianxun's physique, I probably would have been crushed half to death...
