"An'an, didn't you ask me to buy lipstick for you and Xiao Jiaojiao last time? I'm going to Shengjing with some friends now, would you like me to bring it to you?"
"Huh?" Xie Bi'an was taken aback, "What lipstick?"
"Lancôme! Oh my, tell me where you are, An'an, I'll come find you. Also, that Master Wu wants me to bring you something too," I cut off her questioning tone.
Xie Bi'an probably didn't know the meaning of "Lancôme," but she was smart. Hearing me call her "An'an," and mentioning "Xiao Jiaojiao" and "Xiao Wu," she guessed I was in trouble. Otherwise, she would never have used such disrespectful terms for three commanders. She said, "Okay, I'll wait for you at the City God Temple you visited last time."
"Got it," I pretended to be relaxed and glanced at Long Yue, asking with my eyes if it was okay to go. Long Yue nodded indifferently, as it was on the way. "Okay, An'an, we'll be there in about an hour."
"Alright." Xie Bi'an hung up the phone.
"Who was that?" Long Yue was indeed unaware.
"Oh, wasn't I appointed as a Yin Messenger?" I said. Long Yue knew about this. The intern Yin Messengers in my group joined at the same time, and we had a dinner party last time. An'an and I were the closest. She's now in training at the Shengjing intern class. I promised to send her a gift last time."
"Is this An'an also a living Yin Messenger?" Long Yue asked.
"She's not. She's just a little ghost who died recently. I heard the Yin Messenger's Mansion is short-handed now, so they're recruiting anyone and everyone." I deliberately lowered our status and that of "An'an" to make Long Yue let her guard down.
This move seemed effective, or perhaps Long Yue wasn't afraid of Yin Messengers at all. She just nodded and smiled, "Alright then, I'll see what a Yin Messenger from the underworld is like."
"Someone like you, haven't you seen Yin Messengers before?" I asked with a smile.
"Only once, but that was already..." Long Yue looked up at the sky, thinking, "a long, long time ago. I can't remember what he looked like."
"Here, I'll take you to see a new Yin Messenger," I said, as I saw two cars speeding towards us.
Besides rushing to pick up their master and fearing punishment, I didn't think anyone normal would drive so fast into a service area.
They were two business vans. This time, there was no need to worry about overcrowding.
After changing cars, we drove out of the Third Prince Service Area, got onto the highway, and drove a considerable distance along the ring road. We turned onto the airport expressway and exited at the closest exit to Black Fort. We made a U-turn and soon arrived at the factory town where the City God Temple was located.
I checked the time. This entire trip had taken an hour and a half. I had told Xie Bi'an an hour, so she must have arrived already.
Observation is better than inference. After getting out of the car, I immediately activated my Qi sensing technique. Indeed, five ghostly energies were emanating from the direction of the City God Temple behind the cornfield. I still remembered the auras of Xie Bi'an, Ma Jiaojiao, and Wu Zhao. Another one was also somewhat familiar; it was a red-energy ghost, likely the chubby judge, the person in charge of the City God Temple. I didn't recognize the last aura, but knowing it wouldn't be very useful anyway, as she was also a very ordinary red-energy ghost. Perhaps she was a little secretary to one of the commanders, tagging along for the fun.
"Where is the temple?" Long Yue looked around, seeing only factories.
"It's inside!" I pointed to the small path.
Three purple-energy experts, as well as the drivers of the two cars, wanted to follow. However, Long Yue told them to wait where they were. Was this overconfidence? Even if she was a high-level purple-energy user, was she really not afraid of an ambush by three Yin Messenger commanders?
Entering the small path, to my surprise, the same little stray dog from last time reappeared. It barked at me and then lifted its leg to pee nearby, making me think I had time-traveled. But looking at the person beside me, it was still Long Yue, so I hadn't traveled through time.
I suspected this little stray dog was also an employee of the Yin Messenger's Mansion, similar to a police dog.
Entering the cornfield and taking many turns, we arrived in front of the City God Temple. I saw the three commanders, the chubby judge, and a young girl in strange attire with a tall hat and a stern, cold face. Her face was very thin, as if she had undergone plastic surgery. Although she was a red-energy ghost, she stood at the center of the group of five. Her aura clearly overshadowed Xie Bi'an, Ma Jiaojiao, and Wu Zhao. Only Wu Zhao's figure could compare with hers...
