I climbed onto the roof of the Mercedes, looking towards Juhua Mountain. The peaks blocked my view, so I couldn't see it yet. I looked up at Huang Xie'er. She had already spotted the enemy and hidden her gun. Wearing a safety helmet, she was operating the levers inside the tower crane. She actually knew how to use it, lifting a net full of bricks and lowering them towards the main hall of Hanyin Temple.
Not long after, the roaring sound suddenly intensified. In what seemed like an instant, a small helicopter appeared above the summit of Juhua Mountain. I immediately activated my Qi sensing technique and "saw" four people inside. One was ordinary red Qi, likely the pilot. The other three were purple Qi, and their auras looked somewhat familiar, very possibly three of the dozen or so purple Qi individuals I had seen at the Chen family's furniture factory in Shengjing.
I extended my Qi sensing technique, but perhaps due to the obstruction of the mountain, I could only vaguely "see" several more auras in the air, about five hundred meters to the east. Their auras were unclear.
The first helicopter flew over my head. I waved generously at them, pretending to be a bystander who didn't know who they were. The parking lot was too small to land. The helicopter pilot quickly spotted the only available landing spot, and flew towards the square in the abandoned village. Truly walking into a trap.
A few seconds later, a second helicopter appeared above Juhua Mountain, flying a bit higher than the first. I activated my Qi sensing technique again, and my heart skipped a beat!
This helicopter carried only two people: a red Qi pilot and another, indeed purple Qi. However, her purple Qi was like an overripe grape, so dark it was almost black. Moreover, the height of her aura extended over ten meters above the helicopter's rotor, piercing upwards! In my Qi sensing vision, it looked as if the helicopter was on fire!
Such a powerful aura! How terrifying must her strength be!
I glanced at Huang Xie'er in the tower crane. This was her target. Huang Xie'er pretended to wipe sweat, but was actually using a towel to cover her face. Female tower crane operators are rare, and beautiful ones even rarer. She feared being recognized and becoming suspicious.
The helicopter didn't seem suspicious and didn't pay attention to me in the parking lot. After a brief observation, the pilot also headed for the small square in the abandoned village.
I looked back at the abandoned village. The first helicopter had already begun to descend, less than twenty meters from the ground. The second helicopter, however, seemed not to be slowing down, and was diving towards it, moving further and further away from the tower crane. I made a swift decision, picked up a brick, and hit the tower crane hard.
Sound travels fast and efficiently through solid objects, and is less affected by the loud noise of helicopters.
Huang Xie'er clearly heard it. She looked down at me. I made a "fire" gesture. Huang Xie'er immediately pulled out a rifle from behind her, opened the hatch of the tower crane's cabin, held the gun with her left arm, and aimed at the helicopter. Boom!
What flew out was a grenade trailing white smoke. At this point, the second helicopter was lower than the tower crane, allowing for a downward shot. Although the grenade wasn't fast, its trajectory was almost a straight line, directly hitting the middle of the helicopter's rotor. At least one blade of the rotor was damaged. Huang Xie'er was even more brilliant; as the helicopter slowed down, she fired another grenade, this time hitting the helicopter's tail.
It seemed she understood helicopter mechanics better than I did, knowing the tail was for directional control, with a small vertical propeller. As soon as it was hit and caught fire, the helicopter became like a headless fly, spinning in mid-air and spiraling downwards.
When the helicopter was hit the second time, the first helicopter, sensing danger, began to ascend. But it was too late. The Fucheng Shakespeare quintet attacked from the ruins, unleashing a barrage.
I had overestimated the helicopter's defensive capabilities. It turned out helicopters were vulnerable to assault rifles. After five bursts of bullets, that helicopter actually exploded in mid-air!
In any case, I didn't see anyone bail out beforehand. This initial show of force seemed a bit too overwhelming…
