In the mist, I was still using the Qi Sensing technique and found that the two Purple Qi ninjas had also followed into the chicken coop, taking the injured. The three of them fled along the roof in the opposite direction. After they escaped the chicken farm, as there were no vehicles there, they had to walk. I soon discovered that the car belonging to the two Red Qi girls from before was moving towards the ninjas, presumably having contacted them. Not long after, the Red Qi girls' car picked up the three ninjas and drove east.
I pointed in that direction, "Yanan, a black Toyota Crown."
"Crown?" the eagle demon frowned. "What is it? A helmet?"
"A black sedan, the license plate is... I forgot the front, but the back is 22h22." My memory is still quite good, mainly because the number is easy to remember.
Yanan nodded, handed me her knife, and leaped into the air to track them.
The fox demon transformed back and sat on a low wall, panting. The nine small daggers, or throwing knives, as she reverted to human form and her tails disappeared, were hooked onto her long hair.
I went around behind her and picked up a small knife to examine it. "Your nine tails... are they made of hair?"
"Yes, yes, otherwise why would there be nine?" the fox demon chuckled. It was clear that despite being exhausted, she was very excited about winning this fight.
I nodded and carefully put down the dagger, ensuring not to hurt her body. This made more sense scientifically. Even when a fox transforms, into a giant beast, it's still a fox. A fox has only one spine, which extends into a single tailbone, making it impossible to grow nine tails, which would be biologically unsound.
If they were nine real tails, and she were to die in her demon beast form, sinking into a marsh and leaving behind fossilized bones, archaeologists millions of years later would be utterly confused. What kind of creature was this, with nine long fingers growing from its rump? Did it eat a giant crab and the crab emerged from its rear end? Clearly, such bizarre occurrences are impossible in archaeology.
I retrieved the fox demon's down jacket from a wrecked car and put it on her. Then I activated the Qi Sensing technique again. The reinforcements had truly arrived, driving a car. There were three of them: Chen Ke, Yaoyao, and Diana. They didn't bring any other demon beasts—the demon beasts had generally drunk too much tonight. Even the eagle demon was still a bit wobbly when it took off earlier!
I helped the weakened fox demon towards the breach in the chicken farm wall. Noticing she was limping, I asked, "What's wrong with your leg?"
"My leg is fine, my rump is injured," the fox demon said.
"Didn't I... heal it?" I said with an embarrassed smile, surprised I possessed such a supplementary skill.
The fox demon shot me a look. "It was just a temporary measure to trick the enemy. Ouch!"
With that, the fox demon unzipped her down jacket, turned around, and showed me. Indeed, the outside of the bloody gash was adhered by a thin membrane. Perhaps my saliva combined with her body to create a temporary hemostatic tissue. However, the inside of the wound was still visible, split open by half a centimeter wide and about seven centimeters long (scaled down proportionally).
"It's nothing," the fox demon zipped up her jacket. "The wound isn't deep. Boss will just heat up a blade and seal it later."
Last time Yanan was severely injured, Yaoyao had apparently used this "barbecue method" to treat her. Because the recovery abilities of the demon race are indeed very strong, external injuries only need to be closed to stop bleeding. Internal tissues will repair the wound from the inside out at a speed far exceeding normal. For someone like the fox demon, it would likely heal within two hours.
We exited through the breach in the wall, and Yaoyao's car also pulled up. I briefed her on the general situation. Yaoyao, echoing the fox demon's words, heated a dagger with fire and sealed the fox demon's rump wound. The air filled with a scent reminiscent of roasted chicken, perhaps because the fox demon had eaten too many chickens.
Just as we were about to leave, Chen Ke poked her head out of the car belonging to the three female ninjas and shouted at me, "Boss, come take a look. Is this thing a Bai Ze?"
Upon hearing this word, a flicker of sternness flashed in Yaoyao's eyes...
