Chapter 10 Arranged Date

The phone vibrated on the table, it was my aunt's WeChat video call.

I answered. My aunt, wearing a white coat and a mask, looked at the background of my screen with confusion. "Chengfeng, where are you?"

"Uh... at a friend's place," I lied.

"How have you been these past few days? Having nightmares again?" my aunt asked with concern.

"No, I'm doing well."

"That's good. By the way, I want to introduce you to a girlfriend. Find some time for you two to meet."

"...Another one of your colleagues?" I frowned. My aunt had introduced me to three girlfriends before, two nurses and a doctor, none of them worked out. So, when she mentioned introducing someone, I felt a bit hesitant.

"Haha, not this time, but she is in the medical field. She's my junior fellow disciple. I'll send you her WeChat later. You can see her photos on her Moments. You can get to know each other."

"Alright," I replied perfunctorily. I really wasn't in the mood for dating right now.

"I have to hang up, Chengfeng. I have surgery soon."

"Okay."

Half a minute later, my aunt sent over a WeChat contact card. Whether she was pretty or not was secondary; her location alone piqued my extreme interest!

Fucheng!

When I clicked into her Moments, even though the photos had been retouched, I recognized her at once!

Shen Xingyue!

What a coincidence!

My arm still ached faintly. I hesitated for a long time before clicking to add her as a friend.

She accepted instantly.

Looking at the chat window, I didn't know how to start a conversation. The other party showed "typing," so I decided to wait and see.

Her WeChat name wasn't Shen Xingyue, but "Balala Little Fairy."

Heh, pretending to be young. I had witnessed how formidable she was.

Balala Little Fairy: It's really you!

Her opening line confused me again, and I didn't know what to say. I didn't have any photos in my Moments either. How did she recognize me?

I remembered. Back at Han Yin Temple, I had introduced myself as Wu Chengfeng to Shen Xingyue. She had looked surprised and scrutinized me for a while. My aunt must have told her my basic information beforehand, which is why she knew the name "Wu Chengfeng."

Since my identity was exposed, I didn't need to hide anymore. I admitted openly: "It's me, hehe. Master Xingyue, what a coincidence."

Balala Little Fairy: It is quite a coincidence.

Me: You are in Fucheng. Why did my aunt introduce you to me?

Balala Little Fairy: Ask your aunt! Why ask me!

I was speechless again.

After a while, seeing my silence, she sent another message: "I was originally in Jinling. Because you came to Fucheng, I rushed back to deal with you."

So that's how it was. No wonder she only arrived today. I deduced that perhaps my triggering of some Nine Immortal Cave's protection mechanism last night was detected by Xingyue, prompting her to return immediately.

Me: Alright, sorry for the trouble. But it seems we've become acquainted through conflict. So, what now? Should we still meet, or not? Still?

Balala Little Fairy: Yes, we should. I also have some things to ask you.

Me: Me too.

We were both straightforward people, so there was no need for pleasantries. After Xingyue asked where I was, she sent me a location called Milan Pâtisserie, not far from my hotel. We agreed to meet there for lunch at 11:30.

Looking at the time, I still had an hour. Although the sun had come out after the rain, the weather here was rather cold, and I hadn't brought any warm clothes. So, I went to a mall first and bought a set of Hongxing Erke sportswear.

Just as I was heading to Milan Pâtisserie, my supervisor messaged me, informing me of a company meeting at nine o'clock the next morning.

I told her I was out of town on business and likely couldn't make it, and asked for leave. My supervisor stated that the general company leadership would be visiting tomorrow and leave was not allowed.

After thinking about it, I wasn't happy working at this company anyway, so I resigned verbally on the spot.

I wasn't worried about money. A little over a month ago, the day after I first dreamed of Yaoyao, I inexplicably bought a lottery ticket and won five hundred thousand, which was four hundred thousand after tax. That was enough for me to spend for a while.

At the time, I thought it was just good luck. Now, I suspect it might have been some method employed by Yaoyao, perhaps an advance payment for my "operational expenses."

After all, this rescue business is quite costly...
