Xia Shu

Chapter 87 The Gender of the Fox Spirit

We went downstairs with Yaoyao and found that the main door of the Liuhe Hall was locked. I guessed the key was still with the young bodyguard. Yaoyao could have kicked the door open, but it was a busy area outside, and causing a scene like that wouldn't be good. So, I put down the money and went upstairs alone to get the key. Yaoyao, worried, let the sable out to follow me. It scampered up the stairs behind me like a cat.

On the second floor, Old Man Liu was still kneeling in place. He trembled with fear when he saw me return!

"Don't panic, I'm just here to get the key." I walked over to the young security guard, bent down, and rummaged through his pockets. I found it, and then casually checked his breathing. My heart sank. Touching his carotid artery to confirm, my heart sank even further.

Did Yaoyao strike so ruthlessly?

I then felt the necks of the other two men. It was the same for them. The young bodyguard, Xiao Song, in particular, felt like a large chunk of his body had collapsed, as if he had bled dry. Yet, there wasn't much blood on the ground. The only explanation was that it had all been absorbed by the sable.

I looked back at the sable, who was squatting on the back of the sofa, on alert. She was also looking at me, happily licking her little red lips, which sent a chill down my spine.

I couldn't blame her. She had reported to me. Demons need to eat fresh blood and flesh. Not eating Xiao Song's flesh was considered moral, and sucking some blood was acceptable.

I stood up and turned to Old Man Liu: "You handle the scene. I don't need to tell you what to do, right?"

"No, no, Brother Wu, please go ahead. They are all bad guys with criminal records, and their deaths are well-deserved! I will absolutely not cause you any trouble!" Old Man Liu said sincerely.

I nodded, went downstairs with the sable, unlocked the door, and exited. We walked to the parking area across the street and returned to the Qipanshan base along the original route.

Back in my room, I called Teacher Xie and briefly explained the situation. Of course, I didn't mention that Yaoyao had taken care of the three bodyguards. I just said that some unpleasantness had occurred, and the transaction couldn't be completed. However, Old Man Liu, to apologize, had given us two million as compensation for our emotional distress.

Teacher Xie, being an old hand, clearly heard the unspoken meaning and guessed that we were more than just a live-streaming team. She immediately initiated a video call. In front of me, she burned the IOU I had written to her and then offered to send me gold bars. I said, "Forget it, Teacher Xie. Keep the gold bars. Just help me find a more reliable seller."

Teacher Xie wiped the sweat from her forehead and nodded, "Okay, okay, I'll look right away!"

"Old Man Liu said something right. In this day and age, there are still very few people who can produce ten million in cash, and even fewer who are willing to spend so much money on a hairpin. So, Teacher Xie, don't rush. Take your time to find one, and try not to cause such unpleasantness again."

My words were a hint, and also a threat.

At this point, even if I were stupid, I could guess that Teacher Xie, even if not an accomplice of Old Man Liu, was a "broker." She knew exactly who Old Man Liu was, yet she introduced us to each other. Perhaps, besides the IOU I wrote to her, Old Man Liu had also made some promises to her.

"Understood! Boss Wu! I'll notify you as soon as I have any news!"

I hung up the video call. I was indeed not in a hurry. With the two million from Old Man Liu, it was enough to squander for a while.

After thinking for a moment, I called the fox demon to my room. Chen Lu was still at the base, so the fox demon was still in male disguise. When she arrived at my room, she quickly locked the door, untied her bindings, and let out a sigh of relief.

I asked her if the two tutors knew each other.

The fox demon said they didn't; Chen Lu had found them from two different institutions.

I nodded, "That's good. You can continue your training."

If the two tutors were in cahoots, I would have to send the other one away, even though this "other one" was quite pretty.

"By the way, have your IDs been sorted out?" I asked, as this matter was quite important.

"Yeah." The fox demon came over, sat on the armrest of my sofa, and showed me her new ID card.

The address was rural, born in 1998, name: Chai Xukun, gender... Male?
