Honestly, Shen Xingyue couldn't be, but Mengmeng still could be tested. After all, she was one of their own, easier to handle.
But what if she woke up and resisted...
After struggling for more than ten minutes, I decided to test the waters. I slowly approached the sofa where Mengmeng was lying, pinched her little foot, and was about to move up her calf when a knock came to my ears.
Mengmeng wasn't in hibernation and woke easily. Seeing me holding one of her legs, she rubbed her eyes and asked in confusion, "Are you hungry?"
"No, no, uh... I'm just covering you with a blanket so you don't catch a cold," I said, pulling the blanket from behind me and covering Mengmeng. Then I got up to open the door.
It was the fox spirit. She greeted me with a seductive smile, but her gaze quickly passed over my shoulder to the interior of the room, and she opened her small mouth in surprise.
"What's wrong?" I turned back to look. Mengmeng was wrapped tightly in the blanket and wasn't exposed... Well, someone else was!
In my haste earlier, I had pulled the blanket over Mengmeng without realizing that Shen Xingyue was still on the bed. She had somehow entered a "Level 1 Sleep" state at some point.
"Where there is no cloth, how can dust adhere."
"No, no, it's not what you think!" I quickly explained, went over, took the blanket off Mengmeng, and covered Shen Xingyue with it.
The down quilt was light, unfurling in the air like a parachute. The more anxious I became, the slower it descended. Just then, Shen Xingyue, perhaps feeling a slight chill, opened her eyes and woke up. Seeing the vast quilt descending, she thought she was under attack. She kicked the blanket, forming a tent shape, and flung it towards the window. Then she rolled off the bed, assumed a defensive stance, looking at me warily, then at the fox spirit, then at Mengmeng on the sofa. She looked down at herself, her wary expression turning into shame, and then into anger!
"Who did it!"
Three voices answered in unison: "Not me!"
I didn't understand why, with three people answering, I was the only one Shen Xingyue rewarded with a slap to the face!
I stood there stunned, covering my face, and said to Shen Xingyue in a small voice, "It, it really wasn't me..."
"You dare to keep looking!" Shen Xingyue raised her hand again. "And you're pouting! You think I'm small, don't you?"
Actually, it was fine. There was a pear on the left, and a pear on the right!
"Captain Shen, that... it looks like you took it off yourself," the fox spirit "rescued" me. "The white wine was too strong, and you felt hot, so you 'lightly shed your clothes and sailed the orchid boat' alone."
"Is that so?" Shen Xingyue asked doubtfully. She grabbed her clothes and quickly put them on, then turned to me. "I'm sorry, I misunderstood you – but why were you in my room?"
"...I was afraid you'd act out because of the alcohol, and Mu Jige asked me to stay and take care of you." My head was still buzzing, so I had to tell the truth, and luckily, it was the truth.
"Where is she?" Shen Xingyue asked again.
The fox spirit chimed in, "She's planning to visit Tie Shan. She asked me to come up and see if Captain Shen wanted to go."
"A mountain, what's so fun about that? I'm not going, I want to sleep." Shen Xingyue rubbed her head and fell back onto the bed. But she might have forgotten that she had only put on a top. As she flopped down in front of me, a part of her legs dangled outside the bed, exposed and undefended. I quickly turned my face away to avoid another slap.
"Boss, Yaoyao wants you to go to Tie Shan with her. I'll stay and take care of these two," the fox spirit said to me again.
"Huh?" I asked in confusion, wondering why it was different from before.
The fox spirit leaned close to my ear and whispered, "She's in the car, jealous of you. Go and appease her quickly."
Jealous? What on earth is this! I haven't done anything yet! Besides, she was the one who asked me to stay!
Fine, it was good timing anyway, to avoid further misunderstandings with Shen Xingyue. I business-like instructed the fox spirit to give Shen Xingyue and Mengmeng plenty of hot water, and then left the room.
Going downstairs, although the temperature wasn't high today, the sun was quite strong, making me squint. I reached the backyard parking lot. The driver's side door of our BMW was open, and a small foot was dangling outside, too short to reach the ground, swinging back and forth.
I jogged over and smiled, "Why are you sitting here? Do you want to learn to drive?"
