Chapter 534 Happy New Year

After a shower and breakfast, Chen Ke did makeup for me, Bingbing, Yaoyao, and Daji. I drove onto the highway and headed straight for Shengjing.

At eleven o'clock, I exited the ring road and turned onto the airport expressway. By half past eleven, I arrived near the City God Temple in Heishanbao. The surrounding workshops had all been cleared by Sabia. Their people had stationed cars about every hundred meters, monitoring all vehicles on the road and turning back any suspicious ones.

After all, they were transporting firearms, so extreme caution was necessary to prevent them from falling into the black market, which would cause considerable trouble.

At half past twelve, a convoy of trucks arrived. I counted three vehicles, but they weren't military trucks; they were civilian ones with fully enclosed, container-like carriages. The carriages bore the "Jingdong Logistics" logo, likely a fake.

The logistics trucks stopped at a crossroads. Vehicles could pass through, but I wanted to inspect the goods first. I had met the head of Sabia in Shengjing before. Opening one of the trucks, I found it filled with wooden crates. There were even two fully armed guards inside the carriage, maintaining vigilance. A worker opened a crate, revealing G98 rifles laid head-to-head. There were two layers, nine rifles per layer. The space at the bottom was filled with small boxes of bullets (very similar to chalk boxes) and twenty matching bayonets. The worker said, "Buy nine, get one free. Bayonets might be damaged, so we've included two extra per box for replacement."

It was a set. After inspecting the goods, I had the trucks driven to the entrance of the City God Temple. Of course, they couldn't see the temple, only a dilapidated small house. Sabia's people had thought of everything. They parked the trucks with their rear ends facing the small house and unlocked the doors. At this point, another engineering transport vehicle arrived, carrying simple color steel plates. The workers unloaded the plates and, on the spot, erected a temporary shed around the three trucks and the small house. It was fully enclosed with a roof, blocking visibility from all directions.

Then, everyone retreated to the main road.

Lao Cui had been invisible nearby, watching these humans busy themselves. For some reason, he didn't dare to ask. Only after everyone had left did I briefly explain the reason for our presence.

"Ah? Commander Wu didn't tell me anything either!" Lao Cui said nervously.

"Perhaps it was for security. You need to keep this confidential too. Pretend nothing happened today, understand?"

"Certainly, certainly!" Lao Cui might not recognize guns, but he recognized the words on the boxes, knowing these were weapons that could alter the balance of power in the underworld!

Checking the time, it was almost one o'clock. Why hadn't they arrived yet?

I entered the Ghost Gate and activated my Qi-sensing technique. After waiting for about half a cigarette's length, I finally saw a group of figures slowly approaching from the direction of the Naihe Bridge. The reason for their slow pace was relative to their aura; all of them were ghosts with green Qi or higher. This was still the human world, so they could have teleported.

As the group drew nearer, I understood why they were moving so slowly. Each person was pushing a wooden wheelbarrow with shelves on the sides. They were pushing the carts with both hands and had a rope looped around their shoulders, appearing to be carrying a substantial load.

Leading the group was Wu Zhao.

However, I counted only ten people and ten carts. The guns and ammunition, among other items, comprised over three hundred cases. Even if each wheelbarrow could carry ten cases, it wouldn't be enough.

"We'll need at least three trips," I told Wu Zhao.

Wu Zhao frowned, "That won't do. His Highness said this is a secret transport, and even small ferries cannot be used. We can only make one trip."

"How far is the destination?" I asked.

"The nearest military camp is still three hundred li away," Wu Zhao said. "Even for us, it would take a full day."

This was ridiculous. The Young King of Hell hadn't calculated the volume of 6,000 guns. Perhaps they were worried about being discovered by the rebels, so they could only transport them once. Crucially, we were being extremely careful on our end too, closing roads and setting up shelters, also fearing discovery. If only 2,000 guns were delivered, the efficiency would be too low.

I pondered for a moment and then quietly asked Wu Zhao, "Do you think the trucks from the human world can be driven into the underworld?"

"...They can't cross the Naihe Bridge, can they?" Wu Zhao replied.

"The width is not a problem. The incline... might scrape the undercarriage, but that's not a big issue either. If all else fails, you can just lift them!" I said. Ghosts are strong, especially these masters.

Wu Zhao gritted her teeth, "Alright, let's take a gamble!"
