Chapter 604 Borrowing Ghost Soldiers

After the engineers of Shabia made improvements, the safety became hidden, placed below the trigger near the buttstock. It required a toothpick-like object hidden at the rear of the buttstock to be poked in. To remove this "toothpick" inserted into the buttstock, one needed the rings worn by the musketmen. Their rings were specially made (crafted by the Underworld themselves) and had a protrusion. A poke into a small hole at the rear of the buttstock activated a spring mechanism, which then ejected the "toothpick."

It was rather complicated but relatively safe. Since I brought it over, the Little King of Hell named this safety system the "Wu Qian" safety, thoroughly mocking me.

These three hundred musketmen should have received relevant training and knew to disengage the safety before surrendering. I also saw that before my secret order, several musketmen were stealthily poking the buttstocks with their rings. Fearing they might forget this crucial step during their first battle, I sent the rangers to remind them one by one.

The rangers didn't understand what "disengage the safety" meant. Since it was an order, they simply conveyed it.

As the order began to spread stealthily, the remaining bewildered musketmen also started to disengage their safeties. Once the safety was off, the guns became mere firewood; the bolt couldn't be cocked, and the trigger couldn't be pulled. Let the rebels disassemble and study them.

Of course, there would inevitably be a small number of musketmen who panicked in the heat of battle and forgot this. That was fine. A few usable G98s wouldn't have any adverse effect on our next wave of assault.

"Sir, then what about you?" After relaying the order, the ranger returned to ask me, as it was almost our turn to surrender.

"I'm going to seek reinforcements from Your Highness," I replied.

"But how will you get out? How about, I give you my horse!"

I waved my hand: "I have my own plan."

Three seconds later, I guessed the ranger would be stunned in place again, only seeing a living person, no, a living ghost, vanish in broad daylight.

I activated the Gale Force Technique, found a gap in the crowd, and rushed straight out of the battlefield. The rebels probably didn't understand what happened, only feeling a gust of a small whirlwind passing by.

About a minute later, I reached Carp City. This wasn't flat ground anymore but mountainous terrain. However, fighting was still going on here; rebels were besieging the imperial army. But it was evident the imperial army wasn't under much pressure. This Carp City was somewhat similar to Five-Three City, built with its back to the water and surrounded by water on three sides. The rebels were attacking from the only landward direction. They couldn't hold them back, but the imperial army could withdraw by water.

My Gale Force Technique was impervious to water because when moving at high speed, I could fully utilize the surface tension of the water. It was like skipping stones, and I could still move as if on solid ground, legendary "water walking." A scientist once calculated how fast a human would need to run on water, like certain lizards, to achieve this. The conclusion was thirty meters per second. This was impossible for an ordinary human. But I moved over three hundred meters per second, so it was effortless.

Thus, I circled around to the flank, stepped across the water, and arrived at the city wall where there were no enemy troops.

Because the water surface was wide and calm, the few soldiers guarding the riverbank saw me treading on the waves but didn't know what I was. They became alert. Among them were musketmen who aimed their G98s at me. I was terrified of that thing! I quickly declared my identity!

"Is it Lord Wu Chengfeng?" Some musketmen had heard my name.

"It is I. I request an audience with His Highness the Little King of Hell! You don't need to open the city gates; I can get up there. I'm just here to tell you, don't accidentally shoot me, disengage the safety using the Wu Qian system first, thank you!"

Upon hearing that I knew the Wu Qian system, they were certain it was me. After they put away their G98s, I activated the Gale Force Technique again and charged directly onto the city wall.

"Where is the Little King of Hell?" I asked.

A musketman pointed to the opposite side: "She's commanding on the other city wall."

I ran along the city wall, arriving before the Little King of Hell, who was in casual attire, in three seconds.

"My goodness, you startled me! You! How did you get here!" The Little King of Hell, who was drinking tea, almost spat it in my face. Her guards immediately surrounded me.

"Your humble servant has just arrived from Longmen City," I said, cupping my fists.

The Little King of Hell put down her teacup and waved her hand, signaling the guards to stand down.

"How is the fighting over there?"
