Not at all. On Shen Xingyue’s computer screen, an electronic map was displayed—the very same one I had marked last night. It wasn't much different from the A4 paper.
“Are you sure? If you are, I’ll report it to headquarters,” Shen Xingyue said.
“I’m sure.” I trusted my judgment, and even more, I trusted the scientific Beidou system.
Shen Xingyue hit the enter key, transmitting the map through their internal system.
“So, you’re saying the person who slept with me last night was actually Yaoyao?” Shen Xingyue’s analytical skills were impressive; she had figured it out.
I admitted it and then told her about the times she had secretly teased me last night, which I was aware of.
Exposed, Shen Xingyue feigned composure, though her face was red all the way to her neck. She used the steam from her coffee to hide her blush. I snatched the coffee and drank it myself, continuing to mock her brave yet cowardly and foolish actions from the previous night.
“Enough!” Shen Xingyue slammed her hand on the table. “Is it that funny?”
“It is quite funny,” I replied with a smile.
Seeing that she couldn't intimidate me, Shen Xingyue deflated. She sat back down and began typing furiously, gibberish flying across the screen. I had no idea what she was working on.
“If there’s nothing else, I’ll head back to the base,” I said, handing her the coffee. The fox demon drove fast, and the distance wasn’t far. By the time I went to the restroom and came downstairs, she would probably be here.
“Get lost.”
As I reached the door and was about to leave, Shen Xingyue suddenly called out to me.
“What, you can’t bear to see me go, little wife?” I asked.
“Scram!”
“Alright.”
“No! I’m telling you to scram—meaning, get back here! 201 is looking for you!”
201, Bai Qingcheng? I quickly returned to Shen Xingyue’s side. Shen Xingyue looked at me. “Do you want to comb your hair? You look so dishevelled, 201 might misunderstand and think you slept with me last night!”
I pinched the collar of her shirt. “Doesn’t this make you look even more suspicious?”
Shen Xingyue suddenly realized and hurried back to the bedroom to change. I quickly styled my hair with a comb. Later, we returned to the office. I pulled up a chair and sat next to Shen Xingyue. She deliberately leaned away, creating distance between us, and then initiated the “Tengxun meeting.”
It was a video conference. Including Shen Xingyue, there were eight cameras. Only our side had a dual-person setup; everyone else was solo. There were many beautiful women, but I only recognized one of them, the last one—Lin Xi.
“Did you two finish washing up?” the beauty in the first camera asked with a smile.
“Oh, please don’t misunderstand, he just arrived at my office!” Shen Xingyue quickly explained.
“Oh, shoot!” I slapped my forehead.
“What is it?” Shen Xingyue asked, frowning.
I pointed to her pants. She looked down. In her haste, she hadn’t fastened her belt.
“It’s fine, you can’t see my lower half,” Shen Xingyue whispered, likely believing that cupping her hand over the microphone would prevent anyone from hearing.
The problem was, her downward glance was seen by everyone, and they all wore expressions of “Oh, so that’s how it is.”
Alright, I admit it. I did it on purpose. I didn’t mean anything by it; there were just a lot of beautiful women, and Shen Xingyue was in a hurry to clarify our relationship. I was just joking.
Playtime was over; the meeting had to start.
Bai Qingcheng switched the display, putting the map I had marked in the center of the main screen.
“This is what Xiao Wu discovered last night using the Beidou system: the Shanhai demon race is setting up a chessboard in Mount Zhongnan. This morning, Mu Jige has already led a team to investigate the site. I believe we cannot stand idly by. I propose we send a small team, equipped with drones and other advanced equipment, to quickly map out the entire chessboard battlefield in detail. If conditions permit, it would be best to set up cameras at various angles on each peak to achieve full coverage of the chessboard battlefield. This way, we can grasp the outcome of the battle immediately. If the Baize demon race side falls into a significant disadvantage, we can intervene at any time.”
So, they wanted to help in this manner. However, they had clearly stated that they would only intervene if *we* were at a significant disadvantage. Bai Qingcheng undoubtedly understood that excessive human intervention in internal demon affairs could provoke dissatisfaction from the demon race, rendering the competition meaningless.
“I’ll go,” Lin Xi volunteered.
