After finishing our meal, Bingbing went to the back seat to lie down. I sat in the passenger seat, about to recline my own seat for a nap, when suddenly, a few furtive figures caught my attention. The parking lot was quite empty, with no other travelers around, so I spotted these three figures when they were still fifty meters away. I immediately activated my Qi sensing technique for identification.
As expected, they weren't ordinary people but three demons: two with yellow Qi and one with green Qi. They were considered minor demons, but for Bingbing and me, they were insurmountable.
Sensing ill intent, I woke Bingbing up, ready to flee. The Audi S4 sedan Sabia had left me looked like an ordinary Audi A4L, but it was actually a 3.0 V6 pocket rocket, its performance rivaling that of many sports cars.
As the three approached us, when they were furthest from their own car, I suddenly started the engine and drove out of the parking lot.
Before long, the three began to chase us from behind. However, their car was quite ordinary, and I soon put over two hundred meters between us. After entering the city, this was a new car, and my driving skills were still rusty. I was chased back several dozen meters by the three demons. Feeling unable to shake them, I made an illegal left turn at a five-way intersection where left turns were prohibited, entering another lane. Before they could follow, I turned right again, driving into the compound of an administrative unit.
My Qi sensing indicated that the three demons hadn't noticed me enter the compound and had driven past.
The elderly gatekeeper ambled out. He glanced at our white special license plate, possibly unsure of its meaning, and asked who we were looking for.
Worried that the three demons might double back, I didn't rush to leave. I lied, claiming to be looking for "Deputy Director Li," taking a gamble. What if there really was a Deputy Director surnamed Li in this unit? To my surprise, there were indeed two, which speaks to the commonness of the surname Li.
The gatekeeper asked which Deputy Director Li we were looking for, "Big Li" or "Little Li." I casually said "Little Li."
"Alright, and what unit are you from? I'll call Director Li to inform him," the old man said.
"Sabia," I replied, "fitting the car, isn't it?"
As the old man went back to make the call, I seized the opportunity to drive the car into a corner of the courtyard. There was a canopy there, so I hid inside, making it difficult to spot the red S4 even from above.
Bingbing and I got out and walked over. The gatekeeper cheerfully invited us upstairs to office 304.
Bingbing nudged me awkwardly, "Are we really going in?"
"Let's sit for a while. Those three are already starting to backtrack," I whispered. It was true; the Qi of the three demons was slowly returning, searching for us using some unknown method.
Entering the office, I was glad that Bingbing and I weren't wearing our Yin-Yang Master uniforms today but tracksuits and down jackets on the outside, making us inconspicuous. The clerks inside seemed busy, rushing up and down the stairs. On the third floor, we knocked on office 304. Inside, a well-featured female colleague greeted us warmly.
I introduced myself as Wu Wei and Comrade Zheng Hao, stating that we were here to understand the situation.
Director Li poured us tea and told us to ask anything we wanted, and she would answer truthfully.
It seemed she knew what Sabia was about, because when I mentioned the word "demon," she wasn't surprised. I lied, saying that we had discovered a demon lingering on the roof of this office building the day before yesterday and asked if Director Li was aware of this.
Of course, she didn't know, as it hadn't happened. However, to clear her department's name, Director Li proactively offered to take us to the roof to look.
After a feigned inspection, we found no useful clues. The three demons had also moved away, so Bingbing and I took our leave and drove away.
"How was it? Feeling like a spiritual leader, exhilarating, right?" Bingbing laughed. Director Li had treated us with great respect, speaking much more gently. I wondered if she always treated people with such demeanor.
I called Chen Ke and told her to take a taxi to the city to meet us after getting off the high-speed train.
Chen Ke asked where we would meet. As I happened to see a KTV, I drove into the backyard and waited there without going up to sing.
More than two hours later, Chen Ke arrived, fashionably late. She applied makeup to Bingbing and me in the car. I abandoned the Audi S4, and the three of us got out, hailed a taxi, and negotiated a price of 1000 yuan to return to Shengjing.
