Chapter 23 Playing Both Sides

Inside the car.

Song Xi, who had been silent all along, suddenly spoke softly, "You just froze his bank card. Aren't you afraid Zhang Qi will get angry at you when he finds out?"

Lou Yuming's dark eyes narrowed. He tossed his phone aside and patted his thigh.

"Does he dare?"

Song Xi pursed her lips and glanced at Yao Yifan, who was driving intently in front. She dared not make any big moves, only cautiously turned sideways.

But Lou Yuming had little patience. He wrapped an arm around her waist and gently pulled her onto his lap.

Song Xi gasped and buried her head in his chest, afraid to see anyone's expression.

"When did your skin become so thin?" Lou Yuming scoffed, blowing a breath into her ear.

Song Xi's cheeks instantly flushed. She couldn't understand why she, an adult weighing over ninety pounds, was held so easily by Lou Yuming every time, as if she were a child. It was so embarrassing.

Lou Yuming brushed aside her hair and pinched her chin. "Lift your face so I can see."

He observed her carefully. Her face was not injured, and even theζŽη—• on her neck from before had mostly healed.

"...Thank you." She suddenly said.

Lou Yuming's eyebrows subtly rose, his voice laced with amusement, "Just a thank you?"

Song Xi knew what he meant. Embarrassed, her voice became a little flustered, "You... don't take advantage of the situation!"

"Oh, you're talking back now." He pinched her cheek. "Seems like you weren't scared just now."

Song Xi stammered, "That's all because of you. If I hadn't broken up with Zhang Qi, he wouldn't have gotten so angry."

"The little thing is learned to shift the blame now?"

Lou Yuming suddenly leaned closer, their distance becoming precisely zero.

His eyes were deep, his breath hot, and he spoke each word deliberately into her face.

"If you didn't break up, did you expect to keep sneaking around, playing both sides? You're quite capable, aren't you?"

"I, I didn't mean that!"

Song Xi felt a ticklish sensation all over from his closeness. Finally, she gave up completely.

"I've broken up with him now. Does that count as completing the task?"

Lou Yuming snorted, "You wish."

"Then what else do you want!"

Lou Yuming glanced at her, and Song Xi immediately pouted unwillingly, muttering a complaint, "You're so biased. When you went on a date with Miss Anna, I didn't say anything..."

"What do you want to say?"

His jaw lifted slightly, his eyes calm and unwavering.

Song Xi shook her head, "What can I say? Miss Anna is clearly devoted to you. It's not right for you not to accompany her but to be with me instead?"

Lou Yuming cupped the back of her head and turned her face towards him, deliberately leaning in. "Why does it smell a bit sour? Yao Yifan, do you smell that?"

Yao Yifan kept his eyes straight ahead. "Yes, sir."

These two masters and servants are birds of a feather!

Song Xi was flustered with anger. "Let go of me!"

Lou Yuming raised an eyebrow. "Are you sure?"

Saying that, he loosened his grip just as the red light turned on, and Yao Yifan slammed on the brakes.

Song Xi's back was exposed, and due to inertia, she fell backward clumsily, getting wedged between the seats in an extremely awkward position.

Lou Yuming remained calm and collected, looking down at her from above. "You told me to let go."

Song Xi was so angry that sparks flew from her eyes. She quickly scrambled up, but Yao Yifan seemed to be deliberately opposing her. The moment she started to rise, the car suddenly accelerated.

Thus, she lunged directly between Lou Yuming's legs.

Song Xi: "..."

The man's playful voice sounded from above her head.

"If you're in a hurry, I can ask him to stop."
