Chapter 404 Mysterious Guest

A hint of panic flashed in Leng Xiaoyi's eyes.

She turned to leave, but not before sizing up Xiao Mo.

She couldn't understand why Lou Yuming would fancy such a woman!

No figure, no looks, and prone to fighting and roughhousing, just like a man. She thought the woman sitting beside her would be a more suitable choice!

Her skin was good, her features delicate and refined, her figure excellent, and more importantly, she exuded a unique aura, both cool and captivating.

Leng Xiaoyi felt the other person looked familiar, but couldn't place her. As Xiao Mo looked over, she quickly quickened her pace to leave backstage.

"What's wrong, Xiao Mo?" Song Xi asked.

Xiao Mo stared at Leng Xiaoyi's retreating back, shaking her head in confusion, "Nothing, it's just that I feel like I've seen her somewhere before."

Song Xi followed her gaze but found nothing unusual.

Xiao Mo said, "It's nothing, maybe I'm mistaken. By the way, Sister Song Xi, did you and Teacher Mi Xuan have a fight? The atmosphere between you two feels a bit strange."

Song Xi merely offered a helpless smile in response.

On stage, after Leng Xiaobing finished, the applause from the audience was perfunctory.

The stand-up comedians exchanged knowing glances.

The material was good, but the delivery was lacking; they couldn't find the rhythm, making it fall flat.

Leng Xiaobing, however, felt quite pleased with herself, especially when she saw her sister in the audience, her chin practically lifting to the ceiling with joy.

It was Mi Xuan's turn next.

Song Xi silently cheered her on, but when Mi Xuan began to speak, she suddenly felt the words sounded incredibly familiar.

She froze, and Xiao Mo beside her exclaimed in shock, "Sister Song Xi, isn't this your script!"

It was hers.

Jingjing also recognized it, having heard Song Xi read it in their room the previous night.

Xiao Mo was furious, "Why would she do that!"

Jingjing, however, tried to defend Mi Xuan, "Teacher Song, please don't be angry. There must be a misunderstanding. Sister Mi isn't that kind of person."

Xiao Mo, as a matter of course, defended Song Xi, "What misunderstanding could there be! This isn't just plagiarism, it's theft!"

A staff member, hearing the commotion, looked over.

Song Xi quickly covered Xiao Mo's mouth, "Don't say things like that."

Xiao Mo muffled, "Mmmph mmmph mmmph," clearly not understanding, "Sister Song Xi, you're still protecting her!"

Song Xi let go, a realization dawning on her.

Leng Xiaobing's words must have spurred Mi Xuan on.

Mi Xuan valued this opportunity greatly and had taken her script.

In reality, she didn't have to resort to this. Song Xi wasn't entirely satisfied with the script either. If Mi Xuan wanted it, she could have given it to her directly. But this method was truly hurtful.

Xiao Mo, seeing Song Xi's calm demeanor, was almost beside herself, "What do we do now that the script is gone? Should I tell the production team?"

"No."

Song Xi stopped Xiao Mo. If this matter came out, Mi Xuan's future would be ruined. Besides, what good would it do? The production team wouldn't help her; they would use it to create buzz and trend. It wasn't necessary. The immediate priority was to resolve this.

Jingjing chimed in, "Xiao Mo, please. Sister Mi definitely didn't mean to. Let's ask her when she comes down."

Xiao Mo was beside herself with anger.

Both of them were defending Mi Xuan, when she was the one who had done wrong!

She was upset and spoke sharply, "Then what do we do now!"

Song Xi understood Xiao Mo's indignation on her behalf and didn't hold it against her. Instead, she asked Jingjing to calm Xiao Mo down and walked aside.

Jingjing said, "Xiao Mo..."

Xiao Mo was now impatient even with Jingjing, "Don't talk to me!"

Jingjing felt deeply wronged.

"Song Xi, it's your turn to go on stage."

Ahead, a staff member reminded her.

Xiao Mo exclaimed, "It's over, it's over! I'll call Brother Dai right away!"

"Wait."

Song Xi suddenly turned and walked over, stopping Xiao Mo's actions. She smiled faintly, "I have a way."

...

After Mi Xuan's stand-up performance, the audience's reaction was not as strong as she had anticipated.

She was confused. This was Song Xi's script, and she had read it; it was excellent. Why wasn't anyone laughing? She had given it her all to be funny, so why was this happening...

Behind her, the stand-up comedians whispered amongst themselves.

Little Fatty said, "This script... the style feels so familiar. Wasn't it written by so-and-so?"

"You can tell he wrote it. Vulgar!"

Someone sneered, "And they dare to put out a script like this. Do they still think it's stand-up from a few years ago? People like him, who are stuck in their ways and full of themselves, can only write trash like this!"

Prompted by the host, Mi Xuan finally snapped back to reality. She forced a smile and sat down in her artist guest seat.

Leng Xiaobing didn't know the script belonged to Song Xi. She merely taunted, "You must have spent a lot of money on this script, tsk tsk. I didn't expect it to be all for naught."

Mi Xuan secretly pinched her palm with her fingers.

She hadn't spent a penny, but her friendship with Song Xi might have just come to an end.

A flicker of regret arose in Mi Xuan's heart.

The host announced, "Next, let's welcome our final mysterious guest. Who could it be? Let's give her a warm round of applause!"
