Chapter 320: Chapter 109 Rose Cake, Almond Buddha Hand_2

Ke Xing is someone who never turns down good food; as long as it’s delicious, he can stuff it all into his stomach. So when Du Xixi saw him widen his eyes and shove spoonfuls of Song Sao Fish Soup into his mouth, she just smiled, not particularly surprised.

On the other hand, Miao Miao has become more and more gentle in her manners. Even though the Song Sao Fish Soup contained her favorite fish, she merely brightened her eyes, thanked Du Xixi, and then tasted it with a spoon.

One old, one young; Ke Xing ate heartily, while Miao Miao ate elegantly. But without exception, they both finished the Song Sao Fish Soup from the crockpot.

Du Xixi, holding her two sons who had put on some weight, felt she could still manage and laughed as she said to the two who were contentedly rubbing their stomachs after eating, "Do you like it? If you do, I’ll make more tonight."

Ke Xing and Miao Miao exchanged smiles, everything understood without words. Du Xixi raised her eyebrows, turned to dodge Yiyi’s mischievous little hand reaching to tug at the stray locks by her temples, and decided that more Song Sao Fish Soup would definitely need to be made for tonight’s dinner.

Ke Lian also loves fish, so he would probably like the Song Sao Fish Soup too.

"I remember that Mo Ying and the others are coming this afternoon?" Once he felt a bit less full, Ke Xing reached out to bring his two grandchildren into his arms and then asked Du Xixi, who was smiling sweetly.

"Yes," Du Xixi nodded, "Sister Mo Ying is bringing Fengzi and the others over for lunch, but they’re all busy and have to leave before evening, so they can’t stay for dinner."

Because of the incident with Yiyi and Er Er, Mo Feng and his brothers made time to come and see them. Mo Ying was originally planning to return to the Military Department these days to prepare for her "return to the front line." Upon learning that her brother and his friends were coming to the Ke Family, she decided to come along as well.

Ke Xing didn’t feel there was anything wrong with Mo Feng and the others visiting; they were good kids he’d watched grow up, and they had become brothers to Ke Lian as adults. To Ke Xing, Mo Feng and his friends were practically his godsons.

"Since that’s the case, we should let 2569 make more delicious food at noon. Those rascals have a big appetite, and without a big table full, they might go hungry!" Ke Xing hummed, affectionately joking about Mo Feng and the others.

Du Xixi, however, shook her head. Seeing 2569 pick up the pots and bowls and head to the kitchen, she just laughed, "I’ll make lunch myself today. Sister Mo Ying mentioned wanting to try some pastries I talked about earlier, so I’ll make them for everyone to have a taste."

Du Xixi and Mo Ying had a good relationship and often chatted about all sorts of things. Mo Ying would share interesting gossip from the Military Department, letting her know about the dangers on the Insect Clan’s battlefield. Meanwhile, Du Xixi would tell Mo Ying about delicious food, thoroughly piquing her curiosity.

So when Mo Ying said she was coming to the Ke Family, she unreservedly "placed an order," specifically asking for the rose cakes and Almond Buddha Hand that Du Xixi had tempted her with not long ago.

Hearing there would be pastries, Ke Xing couldn’t help but swallow his saliva, though he quickly covered it up. Seeing that Du Xixi and Miao Miao seemed not to notice, he solemnly said, "In that case, today’s lunch will be a bit of a burden for Xixi. Make sure 2569 helps out a lot so you don’t tire yourself out."

Cooking was an enjoyment for Du Xixi, which Ke Xing knew very well, so he didn’t stop her from preparing lunch but instead reminded her out of care, hoping she would prioritize her well-being.

Du Xixi accepted his concern and, just as she was turning to head to the kitchen to start making the rose cakes and Almond Buddha Hand for Mo Ying and the others, she heard Ke Xing hesitantly say another sentence.

"Uh... make sure you make plenty of those pastries, or else Mo Feng and those big-appetite rascals won’t have enough to eat!" Ke Xing closed his eyes, but the words he blurted out felt even more assertive.

Du Xixi: ...

Miao Miao: ...

Miao Miao covered her lips, as if this would prevent Ke Xing from seeing her barely contained smile. Hearing this, Du Xixi sighed with mild exasperation, then continued towards the kitchen: "Got it!"

She knew Ke Xing well and naturally understood the real reason he made this request. For Mo Feng and the others? Oh, please! Ke Xing was simply craving the pastries himself and wanted Du Xixi to make more so he wouldn’t miss out!

Once the kitchen door closed, Ke Xing awkwardly touched his nose. Under the bewildered gazes of his two grandchildren and amidst Miao Miao’s unapologetic laughter, he mumbled, "The desire for tasty food is only human nature!"
