Chapter 428: Ch-428: Attack on Sects (3)
Brimming with killing intent, both Jiang Hong and Lei Ping launched themselves toward the invader.
"Ah, so hasty," Number 9 said with a sigh, rubbing his forehead and completely disregarding them — which only enraged the two further. Their expressions darkened as they covered their fists with spiritual energy and hurled them toward the attacker’s face.
Clang!
"Damn!"
"Ugh!"
Both Lei Ping and Jiang Hong grimaced — it felt as if they had become a mortal and struck solid steel. Instead of injuring the man, they were the ones who felt pain up in their arms.
"Stone Fist!" Jiang Hong shouted, frowning as he used a powerful technique instead of relying on raw strength as before. But his frown deepened when the man didn’t even flinch — he merely raised a single finger.
’Tsk, arrogant...’ Lei Ping sneered from the side, but his smirk froze when his pupils suddenly contracted. Jiang Hong’s eyes shrank to the size of pinpricks as he saw the bastard block his full-powered punch with just one finger.
Then, with an indifferent expression, the attacker lifted his other hand and flicked his finger.
Jiang Hong’s eyes bulged in shock as he felt his skull nearly crack open — it was like being struck by a hammer. He was flung backward through the air, coughing out a mouthful of blood.
"Sect Master!" Lei Ping cried out in disbelief.
’Damn!’ Jiang Hong gritted his teeth, stopping himself midair before he crashed into a building still housing disciples.
’How... how does he have such terrifying physical strength? Even if his cultivation is higher than mine, this is absurd! The only way this could be possible...’ Jiang Hong thought, narrowing his eyes at the man standing calmly before him.
"Sect Master, are you all right?" Lei Ping hurriedly flew to Jiang Hong and looked him over with concern. If anything happened to Jiang Hong they would be doomed — he was the sect’s spiritual pillar — and the elders and disciples watching the fight had gone visibly nervous.
"Damn, who the hell is that guy?"
"Heavens, he actually injured the Sect Master!"
Those who had been confident enough to stop and watch were now shocked to see Jiang Hong flung away.
"You have a unique physique, don’t you?" Jiang Hong’s eyes sharpened as he asked the man.
"Hmm, I do. Took you a while to figure it out, huh?" Number 9 replied, his voice void of emotion.
"And I should kill you quickly and then join the others in razing the sect," the man added, his face suddenly hardening as murderous intent radiated from him.
Gulp.
"Damn it," Jiang Hong cursed, as both he and Lei Ping — forced to endure the direct assault of that killing intent — felt fear wash over them and swallowed it down.
Woosh.
"Hmm?" Number 9 frowned as he sensed an outside interference that disrupted his killing intent, and he turned his head toward the newcomer.
"Ara, ara~ I can’t let you harm them, you know," a teasing female voice echoed.
Lei Ping and Jiang Hong’s eyes lit up when they saw the figure and cried out in unison,
"Elder Feng Chang!"
It was the former Sect Master — the notorious Yang Demon herself.
The moment she appeared, Number 9 felt a wave of mortal danger radiate from her. His calm, indifferent expression finally cracked as he stared at her in surprise. When he sensed her cultivation, cold sweat broke out on his forehead.
"Where did a Pure Core Realm cultivator of such a high stage appear from?" Number 9 muttered solemnly.
---
A Few Moments Ago
BOOM!
"Damn, what in the heavens—!" Feng Mei, who had been cultivating, snapped her eyes open and stood up abruptly.
BOOM!
"Fuck, is someone attacking?" she muttered with a deep frown as she soared into the sky. Her expression darkened when she saw parts of the sect engulfed in flames, and her pupils constricted upon spotting the black-robed figures launching attacks from above.
"The Black Church!"
Feng Mei’s face turned pale. She hurriedly flew back toward a particular building, only to find a shimmering barrier surrounding it.
"Damn it, why is there a barrier around Mother’s residence? Looks like I’ll have to break it—she probably hasn’t even realized we’re under attack!" Feng Mei cursed, recognizing the soundproof barrier that protected her mother during cultivation.
Crack!
With a single pinch of her fingers, the barrier shattered. Feng Mei rushed inside and froze in shock when she saw her mother seated in meditation, surrounded by violently swirling spiritual energy.
"Heavens... is she breaking through?" Feng Mei whispered, eyes wide with disbelief.
Swoosh!
Moments later, a violent gust of wind erupted from Feng Chang’s body, nearly blowing Feng Mei away. Slowly, Feng Chang opened her eyes.
"Finally... Pure Core Realm! And not just that—Stage Five," Feng Chang grinned as she examined herself. Her aura was stronger, her skin smoother—she felt revitalized, even younger.
"Mother, how did you break through all of a sudden?" Feng Mei asked in astonishment, her mouth slightly open as she stared at her mother in disbelief.
"It’s all thanks to your partner," Feng Chang said with a knowing smile.
"Wang Ming?" Feng Mei blinked, confused.
"Yes. After dual cultivating with him, I felt my bottleneck loosen. I advanced to the peak of the Golden Core Realm soon after, then used the Yang Qi I collected from him for further cultivation," Feng Chang explained calmly, taking out several bottles filled with radiant golden energy.
"By the way, why are you here?" she asked, only now noticing her daughter’s anxious expression.
"Oh right—the sect is under attack by the Black Church!" Feng Mei said hurriedly.
"What!?" Feng Chang’s eyes widened in shock.
BOOM!
Another explosion shook the ground, and Feng Chang’s expression turned cold and murderous
"Heh, last time they escaped... but this time, I’ll show them no mercy. It seems the others need my help," she said with a cruel smirk before her figure vanished, her aura streaking toward the battlefield.
"I should head to Jade Peak—Bai Lingxi and the others might need me," Feng Mei muttered before swiftly flying out of the room.
