Chapter 422 - 420: Wang Guihua’s False Accusations

Chapter 422: Chapter 420: Wang Guihua’s False Accusations

Han Yi’s unwavering declaration of love was abruptly interrupted by the untimely clamor from outside.

"Nurse, please take a look at my Miao Miao. She’s been having severe stomach pains all night and sweating heavily."

As soon as they heard the name Miao Miao, they knew who was outside.

With guests around, Lin Wan quickly disengaged from Han Yi’s embrace.

Before long, Instructor Feng entered holding Miao Miao. Seeing Han Yi and Lin Wan, he paused in surprise. "Captain Han, what’s going on?"

"Tonsillitis. What’s wrong with the child?"

"Severe stomach pains. The doctor said she ate something bad." As soon as Instructor Feng finished speaking, Miao Miao started fussing again, clearly in pain.

Lin Wan felt distressed as she asked, "What did the doctor say?" She stepped forward to help Instructor Feng settle Miao Miao on the bed nearby.

"Just a couple of injections to cleanse her stomach, and she’ll be fine."

Seeing the child curled up on the bed started to break Lin Wan’s heart. She hurriedly poured some hot water. "Give the child more hot water."

As Instructor Feng thanked her and reached for the cup, a shadow darted from the doorway, slapping the cup from Lin Wan’s hands.

"Ah..." The hot water splashed onto Lin Wan’s hands, causing her to cry out in pain.

Yet that wasn’t the end. Wang Guihua, paying no mind to the incident, raised her hands to shove Lin Wan. This series of actions unfolded in a mere three seconds.

"You heartless woman, trying to harm my child!"

Han Yi quickly flipped off the bed, disregarding the needle in his hand, moved to Lin Wan, and pulled her into his arms.

Narrowly avoiding Wang Guihua’s touch.

"Where’s the burn?"

Han Yi examined Lin Wan’s hands, both red from the burn.

"It’s nothing, it’s fine." Lin Wan had merely hoped the child could drink some hot water. The military-issue thermos was excellent at keeping things warm, almost like freshly boiled water.

Though she said it was fine, the furrowed brows and pained expression couldn’t escape Han Yi’s notice.

"Nurse Chen," Han Yi, ignoring Wang Guihua’s trouble, called out towards the doorway. Lin Wan’s cries had already drawn Nurse Yang and Nurse Chen there.

"What’s going on?"

"My wife is burnt."

Nurse Chen examined Lin Wan’s hands and advised, "Rinse with cold water and apply some burn ointment; don’t rub."

Pulling Lin Wan out of the room to treat her, Nurse Chen set to work. Han Yi, concerned, grabbed the drip bottle and followed them out.

Yang Ting, nearby, protested, "Captain Han, you’re on a drip. You can’t just run off."

Han Yi paid her no mind, striding out after Lin Wan.

"Smack...!" Just as they left, Instructor Feng slapped Wang Guihua. "What are you trying to do?"

"Miao Miao got the stomach pains from eating their family’s grilled fish. Nobody else was affected, only Miao Miao. She must’ve tampered with it. These days she’s been avoiding me and Miao Miao, hoping we’d stay far away. Why today let us into her yard to eat their food? She’s definitely retaliating against us."

Wang Guihua’s words made Instructor Feng furious. "Do you think you’re someone special for them to retaliate against? If she were targeting you, why did nothing happen to you? Only to Miao Miao?"

"She must’ve targeted Miao Miao. Miao Miao embarrassed her a couple of times publicly, so she might be holding a grudge and venting it on the child," Wang Guihua argued.

"Embarrass her? What embarrassment? What have you done out there?" Instructor Feng was close to losing it with this troublesome woman.

Always doing disgraceful things, making him clean up their messes daily.

Wang Guihua, feeling self-conscious, stammered, "W-Well, nothing much." Then hurried to console the child wriggling in pain on the bed.

"Wang Guihua, I won’t ask about past matters. But today’s event was clear. Without distinguishing right from wrong, you spilled the hot water meant for the child and burned someone’s hand, then tried to push someone down. You knew Captain Han’s wife is pregnant, right? What’s your game here? If you want me out of the team, go ahead and keep causing trouble. Make my life hell, and I won’t care. After New Year’s, take the child and leave with me. I’m divorcing you for sure this time. Baker woman, I’m done with this," Instructor Feng declared.

"What... you want a divorce? Just because she got accidentally burned, you want a divorce?" Whenever they discussed divorce recently, it involved Lin Wan, leading her to overthink, "You favor the pretty one and scorn me? Let me tell you, Feng Quan, I won’t divorce even if I die!" she retorted.

Instructor Feng initially only meant to scare her. No matter the dissatisfaction, they needed to live together for life; divorcing was drowned in criticism in these times. Men managed alright, but women were harder.

Unexpectedly, Wang Guihua said so outright, making him want to slap her again, "You are utterly unreasonable."

Lin Wan never could have expected they’d drag her into another divorce matter just because of her injury.

Nearby, Han Yi’s eyes sharpened, showing no mercy. "Sister-in-law Wang, why say such things? Think my wife is easy to bully, so you indulge? First time I’ve seen someone slander after getting free stuff. Ignorance aside, even an adult acts shamelessly. Today Sister-in-law Wang’s been all over taking things, quite a bit too. Your child got stomach pains, and you lay blame on us. Today, so many kids ate at our place, no issue was seen anywhere. Chomping happily, then when trouble comes you visit us. Such conduct frightens our family. Better stay away, Sister-in-law Wang. We can’t bear more of this. Instructor Feng, you better stay away with your child as well; I’m worried Sister-in-law Wang might shove again, and the next second my wife and child might be gone."

"Of course nothing happened to others. Lin Wan deliberately targeted my Miao Miao, messed with the fish. My little one suffered so badly, what did we do wrong?" Wang Guihua lamented, cradling Miao Miao. "Listen, Lin Wan, unless you hand over fifty bucks for my child today, I’m heading to the police to press charges," knowing full well Lin Wan wasn’t at fault, she intended to extort money.

"I handled grilling the fish. Each fish was shared among the kids. You think my little Wan would meticulously target a specific cut? Go ahead, report it. Even if you don’t, we will," Han Yi countered.

"You will? For what?" Wang Guihua froze, unsure what Han Yi intended.

"For defamation, and for intentional harm—enough to put you in prison for years," Lin Wan coolly stared at Wang Guihua, speaking coldly.

Afterwards, she ignored Wang Guihua’s greedy face, helping Han Yi back to bed.

"I...I, I," Wang Guihua was dumbfounded, unaware charges could be laid like that, defamation or intentional harm. She hadn’t meant for it.

Already provoked by Han Yi’s words, sour-faced, now this rude woman shamelessly extorted; Instructor Feng’s face grew stormy red, flushing green too. "Captain Han, she’s a country woman, not educated. Brother’s wife, don’t mind her. Miao Miao’s troubles aren’t your fault. It was her laziness; she refused to boil water, giving cold water, and the child suffered compounded pain."

"I wasn’t the only country person here. I didn’t give cold water. Their fish wasn’t cleaned properly and still served. Clearly their fault," Wang Guihua argued.

"Quiet yourself; this place doesn’t need you. Pack and go home," Feng Xiaoxian, belly aching from this troublesome woman, unleashed a kick.

"Go on, kill us mother and daughter," Wang Guihua said, embarrassed before Han Yi and Lin Wan, started crying alongside her child.

As Nurse Chen came in with medication, seeing mother and daughter crying, assumed Wang Guihua worried for the child, hurriedly counseling, "Don’t cry, the child feels unwell, is in pain already. Crying more intensifies their pain."

Nurse Chen felt irritated inside, with the sick soldiers increasing, Dr. Wang had her and Yang Ting on night shift, but felt like solo duty.

Yang Ting didn’t know anything; she shouldered all tasks for any patient.

She must report this situation tomorrow.
