Chapter 328: Two demon kings under his belt

"Don’t worry, Barry, I’ll avenge you." He kicked the hero out of the way and shouted at Lygma, who was still in the sky.

"HEY! LYGMA BAHLLZ. I’M THE ONE WHO KILLED YOUR BITCH ASS SON! HE WAS A GIANT PUSSY!"

Lygma descended from the sky like a meteor, the ground exploding beneath his feet. His aura flared violently, shaking the atmosphere itself. "You!" he roared, eyes blazing red. "You’re the one who killed my son?!"

Kai cracked his neck, smirking. "Oh yeah, he screamed a lot. Talked about how strong he was and how if I killed him, you wouldn’t let me go. Didn’t take long to kill him, though."

The Demon King’s fury erupted. His magic expanded in all directions, turning the sky crimson once more. Thousands of black fire spears materialized and launched at once. Kai just sighed. He snapped his fingers, and every spear froze midair, then shattered into harmless dust.

"That’s all you got?" Kai said casually.

Lygma growled and lunged forward, swinging a clawed hand crackling with dark energy. Kai ducked, sidestepped, and tapped Lygma in the ribs with a lazy punch. The Demon King flew backward like a rag doll, crashing through several mountains before skidding to a stop.

Kai yawned. "Come on, big guy. I was hoping for a challenge."

Lygma’s aura darkened further. "You mock me?! You’ll regret-"

Kai appeared right in front of him mid-sentence and flicked his forehead. The impact sent Lygma spiraling through the air, blood spraying from his mouth. Kai blurred again, catching him mid-flight and slamming him into the ground so hard the earth cratered for miles.

Lygma screamed, unleashing a pulse of demonic energy that blasted Kai away. "I’LL ERASE YOU FROM EXISTENCE! MY NAME IS LYGMA FUCKING BAHLLZ! THE DEMON KING OF ERIDANI!" He raised his hands, forming an enormous black sun of magic overhead. It roared, tearing apart the sky as he hurled it down.

Kai caught it with one hand. "Neat trick." He crushed it like a paper ball. The explosion vanished before it even began.

Lygma’s eyes widened. "What...What are you?"

Kai smirked. "Just a guy having fun." He vanished and reappeared behind Lygma, driving his knee into the Demon King’s spine. Lygma coughed blood, spinning to counterattack with a demonic blade, but Kai caught it between two fingers. "Cool sword. Mind if I borrow it?" He snapped the blade in half and kicked Lygma in the chest, sending him through his own magic circle, and threw the broken blade into his chest.

The Demon King roared, summoning a storm of darkness. "I am the ruler of the abyss! My power is infinite!"

"Yeah, yeah. That phrase is on the list already." Kai said, walking through the storm unscathed. "And you talk too much."

He appeared in front of Lygma again and punched him square in the face. The shockwave ripped the clouds apart. Before Lygma could fall, Kai uppercutted him into the sky, then flashed above him and axe-kicked him back down, cratering the land once more.

Kai landed lightly beside the Demon King, brushing off his hands as if he’d just finished a light workout. Lygma lay broken in the crater, gasping, his once-mighty aura flickering weakly around him.

Kai looked down at him, smirking. "All that talk about ruling the abyss..." He crouched beside him, voice low and calm. "But even the abyss bows when something stronger stares back."

Lygma’s eyes flared one last time. "You... monster..."

Kai chuckled. "No. I’m what monsters hope they don’t encounter. Dominance."

Kai stood up, placing one hand over Lygma’s heart as blue-white energy gathered around him, swirling like a galaxy. The ground cracked beneath his feet, light bending under the sheer pressure of his power.

Lygma tried to rise, growling through the pain. "I’ll—"

"Shh," Kai interrupted. "You’ve had your chance. Time to die now." In an instant, his aura exploded. A blinding surge of energy enveloped his arm as he raised it skyward, then brought it down like a divine executioner. "I came up with a cool name for this attack. Oblivion Breaker."

The strike tore through everything; sound, air, and matter ceased to exist for a heartbeat. A column of light burst from the crater, reaching into the sky and splitting the clouds apart. The impact erased the landscape in a flash, leaving only silence and a smoking void where the Demon King once stood.

When the light faded, Kai stood alone at the crater’s edge, the air still trembling around him. He exhaled slowly, the faintest grin crossing his face.

"Guess that’s the end of the Demon King." He turned away, cracking his neck. "Should’ve stayed in hell."

"What the fuck?" Iris had to make sure she wasn’t dreaming or anything. She was there when Barry got stronger than his previous self, far surpassing the boost she and Patty would give him.

"J-Just like that?" Patty was also in shock. She thought that if Barry couldn’t beat the demon king, then none of them could. Still, she knew that didn’t make sense because Kai had killed a demon king before, but seeing was believing.

Even if they thought Kai could win, they didn’t think it would be a one-sided battle.

"Heh, first time?" Gwen asked. They had seen Kai battle a demon king before and had the same reaction as Iris and Patty.

"Well, I guess all that preparation Sweatii and Cucombar did was for nothing now." Nadya wondered how things would play out since both the demon king and his son were dead, but that wasn’t her problem to worry about.

"Man." Sasha was slightly upset that the mansion was in ruins. "We could have raided this place and gotten some precious valuables from here."

"Is money all you care about?"

"Men, top three." She responded

Kai walked back over to them as if he hadn’t just killed the demon king. "So, where to next?"

Before anyone could ask, Aquaphina came from her realm and landed next to Kai.

"Oh, great. What do you want now?" Kai assumed she was going to ask him to do some other bullshit quest that he wouldn’t be interested in.

"Nice to see you too." She scoffed

"Yeah, yeah, get on with it."

"First, congratulations on beating the demon king. We won’t be seeing his face for a while."

Kai shrugged, and Barry gave a thumbs-up from the ground.

"Second, can you do me a favor?"

"Depends on the favor."

"I need you to check out this place for me. It’s on the edge of the archipelago, close to the port where you would need to go when you travel to Astalith."

Kai raised an eyebrow. "Astalith?"

"The land of the sun, the next continent you’ll be traveling to."

"Ahh. Well, if it’s on the way, then I guess it’s fine. But if it’s a cave or something, I’m not checking it out."

Aquaphina nodded. "It’s okay. I just need you to confirm that something is going on there. I can’t see it with my power. There’s a disturbance, and if you can pinpoint it, I should be able to take care of the rest."

That was a red flag Kai should have easily picked up on, but he wasn’t too focused on Aquaphina’s request and was eager to head home so he could see his family.

"Alright, everyone, let’s get out of here."
