Chapter 907: Chapter 909: I’ll Always Remember This, Little Sister

"I have enough clothes; there’s no need to buy more." Xu Nianhua wasn’t much for clothes; the ones Ji Ying bought her regularly were more than enough. As long as they were comfortable, she was satisfied.

Ji Ying: "..."

"Let’s go, Mom will take you shopping for clothes." Ji Ying thought that now that life was better, her daughter should treat herself and dress nicely. After all, her daughter was only twenty-one!

Ji Ying was so impulsive about it that she startled Xu Nianhua. She quickly said, "Mom, please don’t go through all that. I already have plenty of clothes. If I buy more, my closet won’t hold them all."

"Don’t worry, there’s still a closet in the guest room." Ji Ying replied. When they were building the house, since Xu Qinghe was in the furniture business, every room was outfitted with a full wall of closets. If they were neatly organized, they could hold a lot of clothes.

"Mom, I’ll just go to Ningbei myself to buy, so I don’t have to carry too much luggage back." Xu Nianhua immediately changed her tune, thinking that if she bought a bunch of clothes at home, she wouldn’t have the chance to wear them much before school started, and once she got to Ningbei, her mom would definitely make her buy clothes again.

"That works too. Ningbei is a city, after all, and the clothes there are prettier." Ji Ying thought about giving Xu Nianhua some extra pocket money and then remembered something, "Oh, right, the Gu Family called. They said Gu Mingzhu wants to invite you over for a meal, to keep her company for a few days."

"Not going." Xu Nianhua didn’t bother to hide her dislike for the Gu Family. After Fang Yue abandoned her and it all came out, she no longer felt the need to pretend. From what she knew of Gu Mingzhu, she should be too busy explaining things to Jiang Jing to have time to find her.

Could Gu Mingzhu be up to some mischief again?

As Xu Nianhua was thinking this, the phone rang. Ji Ying answered it and heard Gu Mingzhu’s voice, who warmly called her Aunt Xu, so polite that Ji Ying didn’t know how to refuse her.

"I’ll take it." Xu Nianhua took the phone, sat down on a chair, and gestured for Ji Ying to go about her own business.

Ji Ying was worried but there was something at the Chili Sauce Factory that needed her attention, so she only reminded Xu Nianhua to speak nicely.

Ji Ying only knew about Fang Yue abandoning Nianhua; she didn’t know about the incident at the Chili Sauce Factory or Gu Mingzhu arranging for someone to harm Xu Nianji.

"Don’t worry," Xu Nianhua said softly to Ji Ying. Once Ji Ying left, Xu Nianhua said, "Hello."

"Nianhua, is that you? Hearing your voice makes me so happy. I’ve been recovering these past few days and didn’t have time to call you."

Gu Mingzhu’s voice was soft and seemingly harmless, but Xu Nianhua knew that despite her gentle appearance, she was rotten inside.

Xu Nianhua tightened her grip on the phone and said, "It’s nothing."

She spoke nonchalantly; she didn’t care about the Gu Family anymore. Why get angry?

In fact, she hoped they’d never appear in front of her again.

"Thank you, thank you for coming all the way from the county to transfuse blood and save me. Without you, I might not have made it. This life-saving gratitude, sister will always remember and never forget."

Even over the phone, Gu Mingzhu’s gratitude was palpable.

It made Xu Nianhua’s skin crawl, and she quickly interrupted, "No need; under those circumstances, I would have saved anyone. No matter what, a life is a life."

She didn’t want Gu Mingzhu’s gratitude. She’d be happy enough if Gu Mingzhu didn’t cause her harm.
