Chapter 425: 421, goodbye, never to see you again

Taking a deep breath again, Titus Zane’s smile at the corner of her lips became even more resplendent. Meeting Nathan Moore’s eyes, clearly struggling to contain something, she said, "Abroad, every night I would go to nightclubs, seeking excitement, but unfortunately,"

At this point, she paused, shrugged her shoulders, and said with forced ease, "I never got what I wished for."

"Nathan, let’s not meet again in the future."

In such a short time, Titus Zane had said the same thing three times, as if to emphasize it, but also as a resolution for herself.

"Take good care of Lily."

Nathan Moore’s lips were pressed into a thin line, his gaze filled with an emotion all too familiar to Titus Zane, because three years ago, she often saw it.

It was an extremely gloomy anger.

Titus Zane, pressing her lips together, said.

"Goodbye, never to see each other again."

Having said that, she walked past Nathan Moore towards the bus station.

Slowly turning around, Nathan Moore’s gaze followed Titus Zane’s figure.

He thought, having hurt her last night, he had prepared flowers and a candlelit dinner, wanting to apologize to her.

But this woman!

"Did you really not care at all about last night?"

His furrowed eyebrows and the effort to hold back were Nathan Moore’s compromises. He shouted one last hope-filled yet heavy-hearted phrase at Titus Zane’s departing figure.

Titus Zane stopped in her tracks but did not turn around. Clenching the hand holding her purse, she laughed and said, "Last night, just consider it a fleeting encounter of romance and beauty, even though it wasn’t wonderful for me."

After speaking, without any lingering feelings, she strode forward once more.

The bus stop was not far in front of the company. Just as a bus pulled over, Titus Zane got on and chose a seat at the back by the window. Looking at the scenery outside, the corners of her lips lifted slightly.

Yet, her heart was tightening bit by bit, the feeling of suffocation spreading through her body.

Titus Zane gave a bitter laugh. Unconsciously, she had already fallen, but thankfully not too deeply, there was still time to cut her losses.

Watching the bus disappear into the distance, Nathan Moore also got into the driver’s seat. Before the black Bentley started, something was thrown out from inside, rolling onto the ground – it was a bunch of bright roses, with dew still on the petals.

...

After dinner, Max Locke was called into the study by the old master.

"Dad, what’s the matter that we have to talk in the study?"

Helping the old master sit down in the leather chair, Max Locke also sat down on the wooden chair next to it.

"Humph! What matter? Don’t think I don’t know about your little schemes!"

The Locke family’s old master huffed coldly, and then, without waiting for his son to speak, continued.

"The woman that Little Hao brought back today, no matter what, I will not agree!"

"Dad, don’t get excited, I think that girl is not bad." Max Locke said calmly, trying to diffuse the situation, but the old master huffed again coldly.

"Not bad? Would you think she’s not bad if she wasn’t that woman’s daughter?"

After saying that, the old master continued without giving his son a chance to argue.

"Back then, wasn’t that woman’s harm to our Locke family severe enough? And now you actually agree to Little Hao dating her daughter!"

"Dad, you’re overthinking it, resembling someone doesn’t necessarily mean she’s Little Nora’s daughter."

The old master brought up the past again; Max Locke’s dark brows imperceptibly furrowed, yet he still patiently continued to appease.

He had his share of the blame for the past; his mistake was being too indulgent with that woman, allowing the clever woman to take advantage.

"Ha! I’m overthinking?" the old master asked with a cold laugh, "If it’s just a resemblance, we could say it’s a coincidence, but what about the surname? The name? It’s clearly the daughter of that heartless man and that woman! Tell me, how many coincidences like this can there be in the world!"
