Chapter 417: 413, this woman is the one you brought back.
,
Emma Reynolds turned her head to look at the patriarch, quietly tugging at her father-in-law’s sleeve, her gesture suggesting that it seemed her son was seriously involved this time, uncharacteristically submissive in front of a woman.
The elder Mr. Locke turned his gaze to his daughter-in-law, slamming his walking stick heavily on the ground, and harrumphed coldly.
Shaking off Alder Locke’s hands, Titus Zane met the sharp eyes of the elder Mr. Locke; her innate nature burst forth in an instant. The slightly tilted up chin displayed her pride, and her neither servile nor overbearing tone revealed her dignity.
"Sir, there’s really no need to get angry for someone irrelevant like me. I apologize for coming uninvited and causing a disturbance."
Titus Zane bowed slightly, her head held high as she walked towards the door.
Her displeasure turned the respectful "Grandpa" into just "old man."
"Grandpa!"
Alder Locke cast a reproachful glance at the patriarch and hurriedly chased after her, grabbing Titus Zane’s wrist.
"Titus Zane, don’t go!"
Titus Zane turned around, facing Alder Locke’s eyes—pleading and aggrieved—and her own eyes turned icy cold.
"Alder Locke, did you bring me here just to humiliate me?"
Alder Locke was choked by such a direct question from Titus Zane; he couldn’t find any reasonable explanation or comfort.
"Although I, Titus Zane, am not from a prestigious family, I am also not willing to cling to the powerful."
Having said that, she once again jerked her hand away from Alder Locke’s strong grasp and continued walking toward the door.
Watching Titus Zane’s resolute departure, Alder Locke stood stunned for a moment, then snorted in dissatisfaction and chased after her once more.
The Locke Family’s living room was spacious. It was over twenty meters from the sofa to the entrance. By the time he reached the door, he happened to run face-to-face with Max Locke, who was coming back for lunch.
Max Locke, walking with his head down as if lost in thought, looked up when he sensed someone approaching and was visibly shaken at the sight of Titus Zane. A soft murmur escaped his lips.
"Xiao Nuo..."
Titus Zane was also taken aback, surprised that this stranger knew her mother’s name. But her surprise lasted only a moment; she nodded slightly to Max Locke as she passed him and stepped out the front door of the Locke household.
"Alder, is this woman the one you brought back?" Max Locke called out to Alder Locke, who had just reached the door, his gaze still following Titus Zane’s figure.
"If it wasn’t me, then who? The woman I finally managed to bring back was chased away by Grandpa in one sentence," Alder Locke said irritably, the same spoiled tone he often had, careless even in the presence of his own father.
Even though the person he was defying was his father.
Before Alder Locke had walked halfway across the yard, he was sternly stopped by Max Locke, "Come back!"
Alder Locke turned back and glared but continued towards the main gate.
"Alder Locke, I order you to come back!"
Max Locke’s tone grew even more stern, causing Alder Locke to halt in his steps.
From a young age, whenever his father called him by his full name, it meant he was extremely angry. Not daring to challenge his father’s authority, Alder reluctantly turned around.
"Dad! What exactly do you want?! You nag all the time when I don’t have a girlfriend, and now when I bring someone back, Grandpa chases her off! Can’t you let me live in peace? For once, your son is genuinely in love, and this is how you cruelly break it apart?"
"A blockhead with all brawn and no brains!" Max Locke’s stern expression softened slightly, frowning in displeasure at his son, "Do you think she’ll come back if you chase after her now?"
"Then what should I do? Grandpa doesn’t like her, and if I don’t go after her to cozily persuade her, I might end up single for life!"
"To say you’re brainless isn’t being unfair to you. Call the security guard; do you expect her to grow wings and fly away?"
