Capítulo 735: Chapter 326 Venetians
After dealing with the Venezuelan smuggling ship issue, Allen Zhang also had the mercenaries continue to stand guard, left the port area, and before long, Madison’s private plane landed on Jehovah Island.
Upon receiving the news, Allen immediately drove to meet him, arrived at the airport, and watching Madison disembarking from the plane, eagerly greeted him with a handshake.
“Old Mai, your timing couldn’t be more perfect. I just resolved some personal matters, and here you are with reinforcements,” Allen Zhang said, briefing the other party about what had just happened with a smile.
“Seems like this island of yours isn’t exactly peaceful,” Madison said with a curious expression, then asked, “Where’s your warship? Take me there; I want to check it out. If it’s practical, I might consider buying one for use back home.”
“You won’t even need it. Your island’s location is so safe; nobody would think to trouble you. It’s different for me; the sea near my shipping route is filled with smugglers and pirates.”
Allen laughed, but still took Madison on a drive to the harbor area to let him tour his Coastal Combat Ship and get a good experience on board.
Introduced by the Beggar Gang Disciples, Madison also learned about the functionalities of the Coastal Combat Ship, touring the warship, the command cabin, and the platform.
After understanding the daily maintenance requires and what the warship can do, Madison returned to the island and said to the General Sect Leader, “You’re right; I really don’t need this thing.”
“The daily operation of a Coastal Combat Ship requires over twenty people, all professional naval personnel, including a captain and a sergeant. A destroyer requires at least fifty to three hundred people? Where would I recruit so many people? With those resources, I’d rather buy armed helicopters! If danger occurs, it’s better to just call the police.”
Madison decisively admitted it wasn’t a necessity for him.
“Your island being so close to the West Coast, encountering trouble you can directly call the police, and they respond quickly. But once trouble hits here, it’ll take hours at least, and then you have to consider if they even want to come. If they use the excuse that this water is part of Mexico’s strait and not their responsibility, then my taxes would be for nothing,” Allen Zhang said, annoyed.
“Have you ever paid taxes?” Madison asked in surprise.
“No, have you?” Allen Zhang asked.
“Only when I was young,” Madison said calmly.
The two looked at each other and burst out laughing.
Wealthy people never really pay taxes to the Federation.
With a crooked beam above, even the former president evading taxes, how could they possibly willingly pay taxes? All those loopholes are just there to exploit, right?
Allen Zhang then took Madison by car to visit other parts of the island; luxurious villas, scenic coastlines, cutting through checkpoints all guarded by professional mercenaries, impregnable defenses.
Although the tour didn’t feel like a typical private vacation island, it had a unique charm, at least a five-star safety rating.
Not to mention smugglers and drug traffickers, even the CIA and FBI would think twice before intruding into these maritime areas and violating personal island sovereignty, likely to face complaints or even die there. Besides, they wouldn’t come here without a reason, patrolling the sea and coastline is a job for the Navy.
Madison suddenly regretted, sighing, “Had I known there was so much additional income and various projects on this island, I’d have definitely taken it for myself.”
“If you feel short-changed, we can switch, let you face those lawless smugglers and traffickers. I’ll take the warship and destroyer to California’s island territory,” Allen Zhang suggested.
“Then the next day, the antiques on my island would surely be looted by those people,” Madison stated irritably.
It was just a joke; with his minimal firepower, always dealing in antiques, he’s just a sitting duck. His outcome here wouldn’t be much better than Priyan’s; minor conflicts every three days, major ones every five.
Only a fully-fledged General Sect Leader, heavily engaged in the arms industry, need not worry about lacking users or firepower, ascending step by step to this level in the game. Madison was practically one foot in the grave; he had no interest in switching careers to combat and bloodshed.
Back in the villa, having his female assistant serve them tea, Allen Zhang brought up Silver Island and revealed some of his findings, believing that there likely were substantial amounts of silver coins and gold.
“Colombian guerrillas? Those guys have been around since last century, specializing in kidnapping, drug trafficking, and extortion; the Colombian government can’t really handle them. It’s a bit better now; most guerrilla groups have either transformed or have been dissolved.”
Madison pondered, “Are you sure that there really is a large amount of exploitable Spanish silver coins and even gold coins on the island?”
“I trust my judgment. I’ve been there, personally surveyed the geography. There are definitely many silver coins on Silver Island; if not, where have those hundreds of thousands of silver coins gone? They haven’t entered the market, nor held by individuals; it just doesn’t add up,” Allen Zhang stated.
