Chapter 123: Chapter 120: He Asked, Why Did You Tie Your Hair Up? (1)
As soon as Rong Mochen walked in, his dark eyes went straight to Jin Jumo sitting on the sofa.
Jin Jumo sat gracefully, wearing a camel coat with a milky white sweater underneath and dark blue skinny jeans. Her legs were long and slender, and she had a black leather bag and a maroon long scarf beside her. Her long black hair was tied back, revealing a delicate and fair face, making her look even more elegant and cultured.
Rong Mochen raised an indifferent eyebrow and said, "They say girls spend a lot of time getting ready before going out, but you only took ten minutes to get it done."
Jin Jumo’s face turned slightly red as she picked up her bag and scarf and walked towards him, "Mr. Rong only gave me ten minutes."
Rong Mochen’s lips tugged slightly upward as he took the scarf from her hand and wrapped it around her, his dark eyes gently gazing at her, "Why did you tie your hair up?"
"It’s neater like this," Jin Jumo said.
Rong Mochen lifted Jin Jumo’s chin, examining her face from side to side, "Tied up makes your face look big!"
"..." Jin Jumo was at a loss for words.
This was the first time someone said her face was big!
Her face turned red from holding back, and inside, Jin Jumo was frantic, but she had to smile, otherwise she would seem petty. She gritted her teeth, "Mr. Rong sure has a way with words!"
Rong Mochen slightly tugged at the corner of his mouth, lowered his head to touch her nose lightly, and led her to the door hand in hand.
At the entryway, Jin Jumo changed into a pair of black fleece-lined shoes with a Korean style, with a slight heel, not high, about five centimeters.
Rong Mochen frowned, "Wear something else."
"Hmm?" Jin Jumo was stunned.
"Did you forget about the last time you fell?" Rong Mochen stared at her.
Jin Jumo glanced at the shoes on her feet and suddenly remembered that she was wearing these shoes when she fell last time.
Your lips twitching, Jin Jumo had no choice but to change into another pair of flat short boots.
Only then was Rong Mochen satisfied.
Once inside the car, Jin Jumo remembered to ask about their destination, "Mr. Rong, where are we going?"
"To the Rong Family," Rong Mochen said, placing his hands on the steering wheel and glancing at Jin Jumo.
Jin Jumo was taken aback, the whole person blanked out for a moment, staring dazedly at Rong Mochen.
"Because you were injured before, we had to postpone. Grandpa has been urging to see you these past few days. The old man can’t wait any longer, so he threatened me to bring you over today, or he’d sever ties with me." Rong Mochen’s voice was calm, not at all like someone being threatened.
Jin Jumo was embarrassed, her mind momentarily filled with blank spots, her expression slightly nervous.
Just dealing with Rong Mochen was already intimidating, and she couldn’t imagine how formidable his grandfather might be; otherwise, how could he have built up the Rong Family’s ’empire’?
Besides, other than her own grandfather, she had hardly interacted with seniors of such age. What would she even say to him?
"Don’t be nervous, just treat him like your own grandfather," Rong Mochen glanced at Jin Jumo and said.
Jin Jumo gave a forced smile.
It would be great if he truly were her grandfather!
Originally, where Rong Sinan and Tang Ruan lived in Beisheng was already quite far, and Rong Mochen’s grandfather lived not only far from the city but also halfway up a mountainside.
In the large area of forest, there was only one ancient-style courtyard. The lighting at the entrance wasn’t incandescent lights but lanterns, and as if that wasn’t enough, there were guards at the gate, each holding a fierce wolf dog. Jin Jumo was slightly entranced!
Entering through the main gate, there was a spacious front yard. Jin Jumo, occupied with her nervousness, didn’t pay much attention to the surrounding scenery.
"Yo, finally here."
A familiar clear voice came from ahead.
Jin Jumo looked over and saw Rong Sinan, with a full smile, appearing at the three-section redwood door, looking at the two of them.
"Big brother," Rong Mochen said.
Rong Sinan nodded, looking at Jin Jumo, "Momo is getting more and more beautiful."
Jin Jumo smiled with arched eyes, "I’ve noticed that I’ve become prettier recently too."
Rong Sinan laughed heartily.
Rong Mochen’s dark eyes held a smile, lowering his head to glance sideways at Jin Jumo, "You’re not embarrassed at all."
Jin Jumo stared straight ahead, her mouth curling up, and whispered, "It’s the truth, why should I be embarrassed?"
Rong Mochen raised an eyebrow and pinched her waist.
"Brother, is it Mochen and that girl coming?" A deep, authoritative voice filled with the wear of years yet possessing even more power came from inside the house.
Jin Jumo froze, her almond eyes tightened, looking at Rong Mochen.
Rong Mochen wrapped his arm tightly around her waist and stepped inside.
Rong Sinan looked at Rong Mochen with his arm around Jin Jumo’s waist, gave a silent laugh, and followed them in, saying loudly, "Grandpa, Momo is not just a little girl; she has a name."
"Hmph, in front of me, what else could she be but a little girl?" Rong Zhengfeng had already spotted Jin Jumo walking in with Rong Mochen, his fierce eyes staring directly at her, letting out a low grunt.
As Jin Jumo met Rong Zhengfeng’s scrutinizing gaze, she did not look away, only narrowing her eyes slightly, her face wearing an open and graceful smile, "Hello, Mr. Rong."
"What did you call me?" Rong Zhengfeng barked.
Jin Jumo pressed her lips together for a moment, then smiled and said, "Grandpa Rong."
Rong Zhengfeng tightened his mouth, hummed for a while, and said, "You might as well call me Nanny Rong. Change it, I don’t like it!"
"..." Jin Jumo almost burst out laughing, pressing her lips together, holding back, and then softly said, "Grandpa."
Only then did Rong Zhengfeng feel comfortable, saying, "Sit down!"
Jin Jumo nodded and her eyes shifted to the people sitting on the long sofa next to the main position where Rong Zhengfeng was seated, her eyes lowering slightly.
Rong Mochen led Jin Jumo to the two-seater sofa opposite Rong Zhengfeng, lowering his eyes to look at Jin Jumo, "You already know my big brother and sister-in-law, so there’s no need for me to say much more."
Saying that, Rong Mochen raised his eyes to look at the well-dressed middle-aged woman sitting across from Rong Sinan and Tang Ruan, "This is my mother, and the one sitting beside her is Shao Yun’s mother."
Jin Jumo looked over and was met with two rather uncomfortable disdainful gazes.
The two were indeed sisters, looking and dressing similarly, both wearing traditional qipaos with mink stoles draped over their shoulders, one with her hair neatly up and the other with curls draping behind her, both sitting slightly reclined to better scrutinize Jin Jumo.
Jin Jumo guessed that the one with her hair up should be Rong Mochen’s mother, after all, Huo Shaojun’s mother was a few years younger than her, so the one with the curly hair should be Rong Mochen’s aunt.
It was obvious at a glance that neither liked her, otherwise, how could they explain the unconcealed scorn and mockery in their eyes?
Although she wasn’t well-liked, the necessary politeness and manners couldn’t be neglected. Jin Jumo smiled gently, nodding toward the two, "Hello, Aunt."
"No need to be so formal. Sit down." Fang Jingyi, Rong Mochen’s mother, spoke, her voice maintaining the poise of an aristocratic family, without revealing much emotion, though the phrase "no need to be so formal" already indicated her attitude, subconsciously feeling that Jin Jumo calling her ’Aunt’ was overreaching.
Jin Jumo said nothing and sat down.
"We don’t know your name yet? Could you introduce yourself to us?" Fang Jingyi’s sister, Fang Jingting, spoke up.
"Aunt, didn’t I tell you before? Her name is Jin Jumo." Rong Sinan smiled.
Fang Jingting playfully scolded Rong Sinan with her eyes, "I wasn’t asking you."
Jin Jumo lightly raised an eyebrow, saying, "My name is Jin Jumo. I’m currently studying at G University, set to graduate in half a year. Additionally, I have a grandfather bedridden in the hospital."
Upon hearing Jin Jumo mention a bedridden grandfather, Fang Jingyi and Fang Jingting both frowned at the same time.
Fang Jingyi, the more composed of the sisters, looked at Jin Jumo and asked, "What about your parents?"
"My parents died in a car accident when I was ten." Jin Jumo replied, with a slight curve of her lips.
"...Sorry, Miss Jin, I didn’t know."
"It’s okay. I can now accept the fact calmly." Jin Jumo said.
Fang Jingyi, knowing she had misspoken, said no more.
Fang Jingting then asked, "How did Miss Jin and our Mochen meet? Forgive my directness, but with our Mochen’s current status, he’s unlikely to visit a school or appear anywhere not related to business."
Jin Jumo squinted slightly, "Mr. Rong and I met at..."
"Does it really matter where we met?" Rong Mochen interjected, expressionless, his dark eyes like a deep valley, glancing lightly at Fang Jingting.
Fang Jingting, looking at Rong Mochen’s cold face, felt a tremor in her eyes. Since childhood, she didn’t like her sister’s youngest son much, his fierce nature made him seem like he wanted to devour anyone with a single glance, eerie.
Pressing her lips together, Fang Jingting turned to Fang Jingyi.
Fang Jingyi frowned, her face serious in every expression, "Mochen, your aunt is concerned about you. Your marriage is a significant matter and shouldn’t be decided rashly. We are also worried that you may not know much about Miss Jin, so we’re trying to look out for you. Don’t ignore our concern."
"Yes, Mochen, your aunt is thinking for your sake. I believe Miss Jin can understand how we, as elders, feel and will not blame us for being abrupt, right, Miss Jin?" Fang Jingting added.
Jin Jumo maintained a calm smile on her face, nodding gently at the words, "I can understand."
"Miss Jin mentioned earlier that she seemed to have met Mochen in a bar," Tang Ruan, who had been silent all along, quietly said.
A cold smile flickered in Jin Jumo’s eyes as she looked at Tang Ruan, the curve of her lips widening, "Miss Tang has quite a good memory."
Tang Ruan’s face stiffened, pressing her lips together, saying no more and lowering her head.
Jin Jumo then turned to Fang Jingyi and Fang Jingting, "Indeed, Mr. Rong and I met in a bar."
"A bar? What bar? Mochen generally wouldn’t go to just any bar. According to Miss Jin, with a bedridden grandfather, you’re not exactly there for leisure, right?" Fang Jingting’s voice carried disdain, as if sure that Jin Jumo wasn’t at the bar for anything respectable.
Jin Jumo lightly pressed her palm, the paleness on her face unable to be concealed despite her large smile, her throat lightly rolling, "The bar Mr. Rong visited isn’t one just anyone can enter. The reason I could get in was that I was working there, earning money for my grandfather’s medical treatment."
"Work? What sort of work?" Fang Jingting pressed.
