Chapter 219: Chapter 214: I Can Marry Mr. Rong (1)
"...Impossible!" Jin Jumo struggled to spit out a few words.
Rong Mochen gripped her chin more fiercely, pressing down with his thin lips, like a sharp blade hanging over her trembling lips.
In less than thirty seconds, the elevator stopped at the fifth floor.
Rong Mochen kept watching Jin Jumo, observing her drastic emotional shift in such a short time.
From uncontrollable intense resistance to a calm demeanor as if nothing had happened, the contrast was enormous.
Jin Jumo glanced at her reflection on the elevator wall, noting nothing unusual aside from a hint of fatigue, then stepped out of the elevator and headed toward the apartment.
Jin Jumo wore a large down jacket, and her pants were still the oversized hospital gown.
But she was too thin, making the large clothes look even bigger on her, accentuating her petite and slender figure.
Rong Mochen furrowed his brow even tighter, stepping out with his long legs to follow her.
Jin Jumo took out a spare key from under the doormat and quietly opened the door.
After opening the door, Jin Jumo saw the room was silent; indeed, the two little ones were still asleep.
She tiptoed into the apartment, ignoring the man following her, and headed straight to her bedroom.
Rong Mochen stood at the entrance, watching Jin Jumo enter the room, and immediately the door slammed shut in front of him.
His dark eyes paused slightly, and Rong Mochen’s eyelashes lowered gently, his gaze sweeping past the children’s room next to Jin Jumo’s bedroom, and his eyes narrowed slightly.
Jin Jumo came out of her room, not seeing a certain someone in the living room. Her eyes flickered, but her face showed no extra expression as she walked toward the children’s room.
As she reached the doorway, she heard Xixi’s clear, bell-like little voice coming from inside the room.
"Dad, did you come this morning, or did you come last night when Xixi was asleep?"
Then came the man’s patient, low voice, "This morning."
"Are you here to take brother and me to kindergarten?"
"Hmm."
"Will Dad come to pick up Xixi and brother every day to go to kindergarten?"
"Hmm."
"..."
The conversation ended there.
Jin Jumo didn’t hear Xixi’s voice for a while.
Her brow furrowed slightly, just about to turn the door handle to enter, Xixi’s voice came again.
"Dad, how about Xixi plays a game with you?"
Jin Jumo, "..."
"...What game?"
"Hmm... it’s like in front of mommy, Xixi can’t talk to dad, and dad shouldn’t talk to Xixi. Whoever talks first loses. If you lose, you have to be punished." Xixi said earnestly with her sweet voice.
Jin Jumo’s lips twitched lightly.
Didn’t the little girl clearly say last night not to mind someone?
In the room.
Rong Mochen’s dark eyes deepened as he looked at his daughter’s rosy face and her long lashes fluttering nervously. He brushed her cheek with his thumb, "What kind of punishment if you lose?"
"Punishment..."
"Xixi’s punishment shouldn’t be too harsh because Dad is bound to lose," Rong Mochen said softly.
"..." Xixi’s eyes widened, a little nervous, "Why?"
"Because Dad loves Xixi so much, he can’t bear not to talk to Xixi," Rong Mochen looked at Xixi tenderly.
Xixi blinked, staring at Rong Mochen for a few seconds, then whispered, "If Xixi doesn’t talk to Dad, will not mind Dad, will Dad be mad?"
Rong Mochen picked Xixi up from the bed, setting her on his lap. His large hand held her soft little hand, and he leaned down to kiss her tousled hair, "No."
Xixi had no chance to relax before he continued, "Although Dad won’t be mad, he will definitely be very sad."
Jin Jumo, standing at the door, heard Rong Mochen’s words.
A flash of indiscernible emotion flickered through her dark peach blossom eyes.
He, too, could feel hurt?
Almost instantly, Xixi twisted her chubby waist, her chubby white hands holding Rong Mochen’s face, exclaiming, "I said we’re playing a game, Xixi won’t really ignore Dad."
Rong Mochen looked somewhat aggrieved at his daughter, his voice low, "But Dad doesn’t like this game."
"Huh?" Xixi was suddenly at a loss for words.
Just then, Jin Jumo pushed the door open and walked in.
Xixi’s eyes opened wide instantly as if startled, turning her head to look toward the door.
Seeing Jin Jumo, Xixi’s little face turned pale, and she frantically tried to get off Rong Mochen’s lap.
Xixi suddenly struggled, catching Rong Mochen off guard, who instinctively tightened his hold around her chubby waist to prevent her from falling off his lap.
Xixi struggled a few more times but didn’t break free. Her big eyes filled with glistening anxious tears, and she looked at Jin Jumo with a pouting mouth, on the verge of tears.
Jin Jumo’s heart was sharply pierced. She quickly took two steps and picked Xixi up from Rong Mochen’s lap.
Jin Jumo’s body hadn’t fully recovered and wasn’t very strong. Xixi was a bit chubby, and as soon as she pounced into Jin Jumo’s arms, she tightly hugged her neck with her chubby legs clamping her waist as if afraid Jin Jumo might drop her.
Jin Jumo’s legs went weak, and she stepped back two paces.
If it weren’t for a large hand supporting her lower back, Jin Jumo had no doubt she would have fallen to the ground.
Once Jin Jumo steadied herself, she looked at the man beside her with a light pant and furrowed her brows, subtly avoiding his touch on her waist.
Nodding at little Xixi, who looked at her eagerly like a puppy, Jin Jumo’s expression softened and she kissed her on her fair forehead.
To cover the bandage on her head, Jin Jumo wore a beige knit hat that matched her socks, with her long black hair hanging straight on either side of her chest and down her back.
This outfit made her look more delicate and pure, accentuating her clear-eyed beauty.
Rong Mochen’s gaze at Jin Jumo was deep and profound, as if he wanted to swallow her whole.
Jin Jumo’s heart trembled and she quickly averted her gaze, walking two steps to the wardrobe to find a sweater and a short skirt of the same color for Xixi.
When Xixi saw Jin Jumo take out the sweater and skirt, her big eyes lit up and she eagerly stretched out her little arms.
Jin Jumo smiled and slipped the sleeves of the sweater onto Xixi’s chubby arms and then slipped the neckline over her little head.
Xixi tugged down the sweater herself, giggling as she smoothed it with her chubby little hands.
Jin Jumo dressed Xixi in a pair of thick leggings before helping her into the little skirt, then smoothed Xixi’s fluffy hair and tidied her bangs.
"Mommy, I want a hat too," said Xixi.
"Okay," Jin Jumo turned and took out a knit hat the same color as hers from the wardrobe and put it on Xixi.
The hat sat on Xixi’s head, with a bit of her bangs peeking out.
Standing with Xixi, despite her chubbiness, Xixi looked astonishingly like Jin Jumo, as if they were cast from the same mold.
Rong Mochen’s eyes revealed surprise, and his previously tightly pursed lips curved into a smile as he gazed warmly and gently at Jin Jumo and Xixi.
Once Xixi was ready, Jin Jumo went to wake the still-sleeping Hanhan.
Hanhan frowned in irritation as he woke up, saw Rong Mochen standing at the end of the bed, and with his big, sleepy eyes still foggy, he naturally turned his head away, glancing at Xixi and Jin Jumo.
Upon seeing their almost identical outfits, his chubby body suddenly shivered.
Jin Jumo noticed and let out a smiling eye wrinkle.
The next moment, Xixi said, "Mommy, Brother should dress the same as us too."
"I don’t want to!" Hanhan immediately replied, his little face full of disdain.
Xixi looked at Hanhan in surprise, not understanding, "Why?"
"It’s fine for you and Mom to dress the same, why force me?" Hanhan said.
Xixi crawled in front of Hanhan, looking at him with big eyes, "But why not? Isn’t it nice for Brother, me, and Mommy to wear the same?"
"I just don’t want to!"
"Yes!" Xixi pouted, unable to understand why he wouldn’t!
"No!"
"Yes!" Xixi said loudly.
"..." Hanhan pulled a long face, furrowing his little brows tightly, and looked at Jin Jumo, "Mom, do I have to wear this?"
"Why?" Jin Jumo feigned confusion.
Hanhan held back for a while, finally blushing and quietly saying, "Every time I wear this, people mistake me for a girl, it’s so annoying!"
"..." Jin Jumo held back her laughter, "If they think you’re a girl, that means Hanhan is very cute and pretty."
Hanhan looked at Jin Jumo somewhat speechlessly, "I don’t need to be pretty."
Xixi’s response was slow, and only after Jin Jumo and Hanhan exchanged a few words did she catch on.
She didn’t insist on Hanhan wearing the same clothes with them anymore and instead looked at Jin Jumo, understanding, "Mommy, let’s not force Brother anymore."
Jin Jumo was a bit stunned, surprised by Xixi’s sudden understanding.
"If Brother is mistaken for a girl, the other kids in kindergarten might laugh at him, I don’t want Brother to be laughed at," Xixi said, grabbing her brother’s hand.
Jin Jumo’s eyes flashed with emotion as she looked at Hanhan with a smile.
Hanhan looked at Xixi, his lips pressed together, and patted her little head, as if to say, you’re truly a great sister!
While Jin Jumo and her children were caught up in their heated discussion about what to wear, Rong Mochen remained silent, watching them.
Although Xixi was occasionally willful and overbearing, she was also understanding and sensible, sticking up for her brother wholeheartedly, with every little gesture toward him warming hearts.
Hanhan appeared cold and silent, but in his heart, he placed Jin Jumo and Xixi first, showing more tolerance and affection toward them.
If one asked when Jin Jumo was her most genuine self, the answer would undoubtedly be when she was with Xixi and Hanhan.
Her smiles, her every expression, her every word came from the heart without a hint of pretense.
Rong Mochen’s black eyes suddenly darkened.
Whether four years ago or four years later, she always seemed to be layered under a veil, never clear to see.
After dropping Xixi and Hanhan off at kindergarten and watching the two little ones walk hand in hand into the classroom, Jin Jumo glanced at Rong Mochen beside her and headed towards the car.
She hadn’t been in the car for more than five seconds before someone got into the driver’s seat.
