Chapter 258: Chapter 250: Why Is the Boss So Worried About One Person? (1)
Rong Mochen’s deep eyes lightly veiled.
Xixi’s little face was wrinkled from crying, eventually coughing at the end.
Jin Jumo’s heart ached terribly, as she stroked Xixi’s back with her hand and kissed her small face, saying, "Xixi, be good. Mommy’s here. No more crying, all right?"
It took a while for Xixi to pull away from her fearful emotions, blinking her tearful eyes at Jin Jumo. Her little mouth was red and sniffled, "Mommy was taken away by bad people, Xixi was so scared."
Jin Jumo pressed her forehead against Xixi’s, "The bad guys were chased away by Daddy and won’t show up again. Xixi doesn’t need to be afraid."
Xixi placed one finger at the corner of her mouth, with her long black eyelashes hanging tiny, crystal-clear pearls. Upon hearing this, she lifted her big eyes and looked confusedly at Rong Mochen standing behind Jin Jumo, softly saying, "Really, Daddy?"
Rong Mochen gently curled his lips, "Mm."
Xixi sighed in relief and immediately hugged Jin Jumo tightly, "That’s great! Mommy won’t be taken away by bad people anymore. Daddy is so awesome!"
Jin Jumo kissed her small face.
Xixi nestled in Jin Jumo’s arms for a long while, seeming fully calm, then stood on her legs, stretching out two chubby arms toward Rong Mochen, "Daddy, hug me."
Rong Mochen’s dark eyes softened, as he reached out and picked up Xixi.
Xixi held Rong Mochen’s face, her little expression proud, "Aunt Mu said, my daddy is the best. With Daddy protecting Mommy, Brother, and Xixi, Xixi won’t be afraid."
Rong Mochen felt the blood in his veins heat up. He stroked Xixi’s small face with his finger and softly said, "Xixi can trust Daddy."
"Xixi does." Xixi’s swollen big eyes curved, looking at Rong Mochen’s shining black pupils, crisply saying, "Having Daddy is really nice."
Jin Jumo’s heart trembled slightly, instinctively looking at Rong Mochen.
Rong Mochen’s features were gentle, as if soaked in warm water, without any trace of harshness, looking tenderly at Xixi.
Jin Jumo looked at this version of Rong Mochen, momentarily lost in thought.
Xixi rarely wakes up in the middle of the night, except when needing the restroom.
This time, due to the fear of Jin Jumo being taken by the bad guys, she slept uneasily and woke up once.
After Jin Jumo coaxed her, she quickly fell asleep again.
Hanhan waited until Xixi fell asleep before finally allowing himself to drift back into dreamland.
Jin Jumo and Rong Mochen stood before the children’s bed, like all parents worrying about their kids, watching them sleep peacefully, the happiness and tenderness indescribable.
His palm suddenly enveloped by a large hand, Jin Jumo’s eyebrow twitched, lifting a corner of her eyelid to look at the upright, stately man beside her.
Rong Mochen stared intently at Jin Jumo, his gaze a fusion of tenderness and obscurity, yet strangely expressed the same profound emotion.
Jin Jumo remembered the "absurd" scene between them earlier on the bed, making her ears burn, trying to pull her hand from his grip.
But Rong Mochen held tightly, unwilling to let go.
Jin Jumo’s heart raced a couple of beats faster, her long eyelashes fluttering, "Xixi was frightened today. I worry she won’t sleep well and might wake up again. I plan to stay here and sleep with them."
Upon hearing this, Rong Mochen’s long brows furrowed, pressing his lips tight, silently staring at Jin Jumo.
Jin Jumo tried once more to pull her hand away.
Rong Mochen’s expression darkened, pulling her to him, staring into her flickering Taohua eyes, his voice hoarse, "What about me?"
"You, you go sleep in the master bedroom," Jin Jumo replied.
"How can I sleep alone like this?" Rong Mochen implied, glancing downward.
Jin Jumo’s eyes followed his line of sight downward, and when her gaze touched the obvious bulge, her cheeks immediately flushed with heat. She quickly diverted her gaze, her lips moving silently several times before softly humming, "How can you have the nerve to come out like this?"
It was fortunate that Xixi and Hanhan were still young and didn’t understand just yet.
Otherwise...
Rong Mochen turned her face back, his dark eyes firmly locking onto her blushing cheeks, his voice even huskier, "Who made me like this?"
"That was your own improper intentions!" Jin Jumo protested with a huff.
"Facing you, my intentions can’t be proper. I just want to sleep with you," Rong Mochen calmly retorted.
Jin Jumo’s face grew hotter, her breath a bit disordered, glaring at him in embarrassment and anger, unable to speak.
Suddenly, Rong Mochen curled the corners of his mouth, his long arm wrapping around her waist, lowering his head to peck at her lips’ corner. Seeing Jin Jumo’s immediate furrowed brows, the curve at his lips deepened, his voice lowering, "You’re getting bold, daring to treat me with such impudence."
Although his words were stern, his tone was full of indulgence.
But upon hearing this, Jin Jumo suddenly froze, her Taohua eyes contracting, staring at Rong Mochen’s gentle and harmonious face.
Even she herself didn’t know at what point she stopped being wary of him, the man she initially regarded as a sponsor, to whom she treated with fear and caution, becoming someone she had no reservations toward.
Rong Mochen watched Jin Jumo’s dazed face, his dark eyes squinting slightly, his large hand moving to rub the back of her neck, speaking softly, "I wasn’t blaming you, I just think that this is good."
Jin Jumo, "..."
Rong Mochen tugged again at his thin lips, his gaze on Jin Jumo ever more tender, like flowing water.
Within Jin Jumo’s heart, as he watched, layers of ripples involuntarily spread in a spot she couldn’t ignore, clear to the extent that she couldn’t look away, no matter how hard she tried.
Her legs suddenly lifted off the ground, Jin Jumo’s back stiffened in shock, her wide eyes staring at the wickedly handsome face above her, not daring to make a sound.
Rong Mochen lowered his head and kissed her forehead, saying, "Tonight I’ll let you rest well, next time..."
He didn’t finish his sentence.
But Jin Jumo understood clearly.
Her heart was again in turmoil, Jin Jumo quietly lowered her lashes, gently resting her head against his chest.
Rong Mochen purposely relaxed his rock-solid chest muscles so she wouldn’t be uncomfortable, then carried her back to the master bedroom.
When Jin Jumo woke up the next morning, the bed beside her was already empty. She reached out, touched it, and the cold sensation told her that man had been gone for quite a while.
The rising feeling of loss in her heart was not a good sign for Jin Jumo.
She furrowed her brow, got out of bed, and headed for the bathroom to freshen up.
As she emerged from the bathroom, Jin Jumo suddenly felt a draft sweep up from her feet.
Her legs shivered slightly, Jin Jumo glanced down at the white shirt she was wearing, her eyes flickered. As she realized it, her hand had already caressed the shirt, and she couldn’t resist deeply inhaling the scent left on it.
As her mind cleared, alarm bells rang loudly in Jin Jumo’s head, she quickly removed her hand from the shirt, her flushed face tinged with bewilderment.
After a moment, Jin Jumo held her cheeks.
Suddenly she felt.
There might be another Jin Jumo hiding within her, and this Jin Jumo could possibly be mentally ill.
Jin Jumo had just called Xixi and Hanhan to wake up and get ready, and once they finished, the doorbell rang.
Jin Jumo looked at the door, told Xixi and Hanhan to sit on the sofa for a while, and she walked toward the door.
Standing at the door, Jin Jumo looked through the peephole and saw that the person at the door was none other than Gu Yan, so she opened the door.
"Little Mo Mo, you missed a regrettable big news." Gu Yan rushed in without changing his shoes, dashed to the living room, and turned on the LCD TV.
Jin Jumo twitched her lips, not paying much mind to Gu Yan’s intermittent eccentric behavior.
As the door closed, Jin Jumo heard a familiar male voice coming from the TV.
"The reason the Rong Family has mobilized everyone for today’s press conference is singular."
Jin Jumo’s eyes lightly moved and she slowly walked toward the living room.
Her eyes landed on the man’s deep, hard face on the screen and didn’t move away.
Xixi and Hanhan also instinctively sat on the sofa, their eyes wide open, staring at the man on the screen.
"Cancelling the engagement with the Gu Family’s daughter, Gu Lingyi. From now on, Rong Mochen and Gu Lingyi have no relations whatsoever." Rong Mochen’s voice was low and rich, but each word was firm, echoing with the microphone, reverberating for a long time.
Jin Jumo sharply clenched her hands, her peach blossom eyes filled with complexity.
As Rong Mochen’s words fell, there was a long silence at the press conference, giving an illusion of the TV being frozen.
"President Rong, is the sudden press conference to cancel the engagement with Miss Gu a mutual decision or unilateral?"
Finally, a reporter snapped out of their shock and asked.
Facing everyone, Rong Mochen seemed to always wear a single expression, cold as frost.
Upon hearing this, Rong Mochen gave a faint glance at the reporter and replied coolly, "What do you think?"
The reporter was stunned by his retort.
"Today Miss Gu is not present, so does it mean it’s Mr. Rong who unilaterally canceled the engagement?" Another reporter picked up the hint from Rong Mochen’s words and spoke loudly.
Rong Mochen raised an eyebrow, seemingly giving the reporter a look of appreciation.
The reporter felt as if they had received a great reward, suddenly filled with vigor and drive, looking at Rong Mochen and asking, "Mr. Rong, can you reveal the reasons for canceling the engagement with Miss Gu?"
"Isn’t a reason unnecessary to cancel an engagement?" Rong Mochen said faintly.
The reporters’ heart: being whimsical is also a reason!
"However, if you want a reason, there might just be one or two." Rong Mochen said.
A twist, isn’t it!
The reporters were suddenly recharged, taking out their notebooks, eyes gleaming, waiting for Rong Mochen to make a big reveal.
Rong Mochen leisurely swept his gaze across the reporters, saying nothing.
The reporters waited until the flowers were nearly wilted.
A voice suddenly appeared from nowhere.
"Miss Gu has been studying abroad for years and her mannerisms have almost been completely Westernized. I once coincidentally met the returning-for-holidays Miss Gu at Ye Hui Bar, and I remember she completely booked Ye Hui Bar, the scene, well..."
The voice paused unexpectedly, unwilling to say more.
The reporters’ brainstorming skills aren’t just hearsay, coupled with the fact that some second-generation rich kids’ "lifestyle" habits are already nothing novel.
