Chapter 285: Chapter 67: Thrilling Chicken Dinner Experience

Chen Jiuge and his companions found themselves in an environment that resembled the bridge from a battle royale game he had played in his previous life, only slightly more complicated. There were additional shrubs and large rocks, among other things, providing plenty of places to hide.

"Wait, what’s that?" Chen Jiuge suddenly noticed a dark object under the bridge.

Since the four of them were currently ordinary people, they could only see a vague outline.

The squad on the bridge seemed to be planning to ambush others and had already stealthily concealed themselves.

Wudao Tian said, "This isn’t a solution."

Die Luowu replied, "But we can’t just charge out to our deaths, can we?"

Chen Jiuge added, "We’d be riddled with bullets."

Wen Ruo interjected, "I have something."

The three turned to look. Wen Ruo rummaged through the bush where he had been hiding and pulled out a sniper rifle, two small pistols, three boxes of ammunition, a frying pan, and a pair of binoculars.

Hiss, this actually works? Chen Jiuge was somewhat puzzled. He recalled that the battle royale game from his previous life didn’t seem to have this feature.

With weapons in hand, the group’s confidence suddenly soared. Wudao Tian, holding the sniper rifle, declared confidently, "I think we can make a push."

Chen Jiuge looked at the black frying pan in his hand, his expression turning grim. "You want to compete with their rate of fire using a sniper rifle?"

"Let me check the situation first." Chen Jiuge picked up the binoculars and looked towards the bridge.

The bridge was still littered with abandoned cars and numerous sheet metal barriers. Finding four people was quite difficult, but Chen Jiuge managed to spot two.

Unable to find the remaining two, Chen Jiuge then glanced at that large, dark mass under the bridge.

He hadn’t paid it much attention before, but one look gave him a shock.

"Junior Brother, what’s all the commotion about? What weapons do they have? Can we take them out?" Wudao Tian loaded his sniper rifle, eager for action.

"Senior Brother, I don’t think that will be necessary." Chen Jiuge’s heart was far from calm. What kind of people set up this competition ground?

"Not necessary?"

Before Wudao Tian could inquire further, a scarlet light shot into the sky. A massive sound followed, making their ears ring and leaving them temporarily deaf.

"Now I understand why it’s not necessary. These people are too ruthless," Die Luowu said, clearly unaccustomed to such things. Competitions in Flower Fairy Valley were usually gentle events like flower arranging. Even though she had witnessed many competitions, this wild type was still a bit jarring for her.

"There’s no one left. Let’s go find weapons. Just having a frying pan makes me feel terribly insecure." Chen Jiuge gripped the frying pan, truly feeling a lack of safety.

Wen Ruo offered a small pistol, saying, "Junior Brother, we can trade."

Chen Jiuge shook his head. "No way."

The architecture in this battleground was strange, a mishmash of buildings from different eras, different worlds, and different styles. For instance, next to a modern gas station stood an ancient farmhouse, and beside that farmhouse was a modern villa. It was truly a mix of ancient and contemporary.

The four split up to search. Chen Jiuge, armed only with the frying pan, stuck with Wen Ruo. After all, without a gun, their ability to protect themselves was too poor.

After quickly searching the rooms, Chen Jiuge finally got a major upgrade, swapping his frying pan for a genuine AK47. His sense of security increased dramatically.

PEW PEW PEW!

A short three-round burst sent Chen Jiuge rolling on the ground.

Hiding in a dead corner, Chen Jiuge looked at the bullet hole in his right shoulder. Red blood was continuously oozing out, and cold sweat dripped from his forehead. He muttered, We’ve all turned into ’marble people,’ yet our blood is still red. That’s really not fitting.

"Junior Brother, are you alright?" Wen Ruo, fortunately, was unharmed.

"I’m fine. Let’s deal with the enemy first," Chen Jiuge said, popping a painkiller he had just found.

"Mm."

The four enemy ’marble people,’ seeing that Chen Jiuge and Wen Ruo didn’t return fire immediately, assumed they were unarmed and brazenly charged forward.

Peeking through a small window, Chen Jiuge was stunned. What’s going on? Haven’t they ever played a battle royale before? So Mang?

I’m so foolish. These cultivators have obviously never played this kind of game before.

Stealthily poking the gun barrel out the window and using its sights, Chen Jiuge accurately made one of them explode.

The round ’marble person’s’ corpse rolled all the way to the wall at the base of the villa, looking extremely comical.

The three flustered enemies immediately huddled together behind a large rock. They took turns firing at the window where Chen Jiuge was, finding temporary safety.

Chen Jiuge called out to his Senior Sister, intending to change position, when he encountered his Eldest Senior Brother emerging from the farmhouse.

"Eldest Senior Brother, don’t tell me you found this in the farmhouse," Chen Jiuge said, somewhat speechless as he looked at the rocket launcher on Wudao Tian’s shoulder.

"Junior Brother, where are those little rascals? Let your Senior Brother here take care of them!" Wudao Tian said with a wide grin.

Pointing to the large rock, Wudao Tian crouched, aimed the launcher at it, and shouted, "Goodbye, little bros!"

As the three behind the rock poked their heads out to look, a rocket came WHOOSHING towards them.

"Run!" The one who reacted fastest immediately dropped his submachine gun and turned to flee, as if having made some resolute decision.

BOOM!

The three of them shook their heads, momentarily dazed.

Wen Ruo, seeming a bit unaccustomed, commented, "I didn’t expect these toys to look so powerful now that we’ve become mortals."

"I feel it’s pretty good." Wudao Tian suddenly found these little toys to be genuinely exhilarating.

"Let’s go check the situation."

The three ’marble people’ were completely dead. Their equipment was scattered all over the ground, completely undamaged—most likely the handiwork of the staff.
