Chapter 279: Chapter 62: Some Ridiculous Things Are Indescribable in Words
As the attacks from the Fierce Beasts grew more intense, Chen Jiuge began to witness a variety of battlefield counterattacks.
A Swan Chariot stretched out a pair of hands from its belly and yanked down its own wings. It then chopped every Fierce Beast obstructing its way into potato chips. After finishing, it even reattached the wings!
The most outrageous part was that the owner of this Swan Chariot was an old man, the kind whose Life Span was nearing its end.
My goodness! In other parts of the Cultivation World, those nearing the end of their Life Span are desperately trying to break through or extend it. So why are they joining races? What kind of Cultivators are these? Chen Jiuge felt he was truly going insane.
"Hahaha, it’s finally our Yo-yo Combo’s turn to take the stage! Tremble, everyone!"
Two arrogant voices rang out over the sea.
Chen Jiuge took one look and felt his mind reel.
He saw what appeared to be a yo-yo-like war chariot, being towed by a slender ’Rope Chariot’.
As the rope slowly wound into the groove in the middle of the yo-yo.
With a BIU sound.
The incredible thrust propelled the yo-yo at unimaginable speeds, smashing all obstructing Fierce Beasts on the sea into smithereens.
"Hahaha, charge, charge, charge!"
Watching the yo-yo whiz by, trailing a long rope, Chen Jiuge was again struck numb.
Gods, tell me, is there anything more absurd than this? Let the storm rage even fiercer! Chen Jiuge inwardly ranted.
THUMP. THUMP. THUMP.
"That’s indeed a creative idea, but unfortunately, it still falls a bit short compared to mine," a robust voice sounded beside Chen Jiuge.
"Eh, Fellow Daoist, your war chariot has quite a retro design! I haven’t seen one like it in many years," the owner of the voice exclaimed in surprise upon seeing Chen Jiuge’s war chariot.
"Fellow Daoist, your war chariot is... quite..."
"Cool, right?"
"Yes, really cool."
Chen Jiuge looked speechlessly at the four Husky-like sled dogs pulling a sled. If not for the difference in size and setting, I might have thought I’d encountered a fellow countryman from home.
The sled owner was a Female Cultivator dressed in men’s clothing. Her pale white neck and high, tilted-up head gave her a somewhat haughty look. Chen Jiuge suddenly didn’t know how to greet her; he’d never encountered such an arrogant Cultivator before.
"Fellow Daoist, I’ll take my leave first." The cross-dressing Female Cultivator flicked the reins in her hands. The four Huskies’ original four legs each instantly split, becoming eight legs per dog. Then, with a BIU sound, they surged forward.
If it were just that, Chen Jiuge might have only sighed in amazement. But the reality was far more chaotic.
After the cross-dressing Female Cultivator sped up, her sled indeed accelerated to a formidable speed. Watching the sled become obscured by billowing waves, Chen Jiuge was about to comment when he realized, Wait, are those waves getting closer to *me*?
"AHHHH, Fellow Daoist, save me!!!"
Chen Jiuge saw the cross-dressing Female Cultivator on the sled, screaming frantically and clutching the reins tightly. But the four, eight-legged Huskies were not obeying commands at all, instead charging excitedly toward the long spikes on the front of his heavy truck.
SCREECH!
THUD! THUD! THUD!
The first sound was Chen Jiuge braking urgently; the second was the Huskies colliding with the heavy truck.
The huge wave crashed down. Chen Jiuge, seeing three of the Huskies impaled, showed a hint of confusion. He poked his head out towards the sled, where the Female Cultivator was trembling and clutching the last Husky. "What are these sled-pulling dogs called?" he asked. "And did you imbue them with the essence of a Spiritual Beast?"
The Female Cultivator, holding the last Husky, gazed imploringly at Chen Jiuge.
"Alright, alright."
「A short while later.」
Inside the heavy truck, Chen Jiuge looked at the Female Cultivator in the passenger seat and the now-reenergized Husky in her arms. "I’m Chen Jiuge," he said. "What’s your name? And you still haven’t answered my earlier question!"
Feng Mengmeng cleared her throat. "I am Feng Mengmeng from the Jiuyou Sect. My master is the Sect Leader of the Jiuyou Sect."
Seeing the proud expression on Feng Mengmeng’s face, Chen Jiuge waited for several minutes, but she said nothing more. Confused, he prompted, "And then?"
"Ah? What ’and then’?" Feng Mengmeng asked, looking puzzled. "Aren’t you surprised?"
"Surprised about what? You still haven’t answered my earlier question. That’s quite impolite, you know," Chen Jiuge retorted.
"Ah, oh! The dogs are called Huskies, nicknamed Erha. I saw them while relaxing in a minor world. It was right when my senior brother mentioned wanting to participate in the Nether Sea race, so I built this sled."
"Let me tell you, I spent a great deal to extract the spirits of four Huskies from that minor world and install them onto my war chariot. I just don’t know why it turned out like this," Feng Mengmeng said, somewhat aggrieved.
Chen Jiuge couldn’t help but admire Feng Mengmeng. She dares to mess with Huskies—no, four eight-legged Huskies! I’d call her a true heroine.
"Feng Mengmeng, your sled is gone, and the race should be over for you. Isn’t it time to head back?" Chen Jiuge reminded her.
Feng Mengmeng stiffened for a moment, then offered a fawning smile. "Actually, I think we can discuss this."
I have a bad feeling about this, Chen Jiuge thought.
「Meanwhile, elsewhere.」
Wudao Tian drove his war chariot recklessly, sending various strangely shaped chariots flying into the air and crashing down, splashing up huge waves on the sea surface.
His giant Martial Rat chariot swung the two iron rods in its hands with a flourish, tilted its head up at a forty-five-degree angle, and declared, "How lonely it is to be invincible."
"This Martial Rat form truly is the best suited for Martial Arts. Even transformed into a chariot, it’s so fluid. I really am a genius!" Wudao Tian said proudly.
THUD!
A giant tortoise slowly blocked Wudao Tian’s path. The Cultivator inside said grimly, "Wudao Tian, this isn’t the territory of your Myriad Beasts Sect. Aren’t you being too arrogant?"
"Oh? And who might this be? Isn’t this Guan Minghua, the one I beat until he cried?" Wudao Tian mocked.
To briefly introduce him: Guan Minghua was from the Purple Sun Sacred Land and a Disciple of its Sect Master. He had once met Wudao Tian during his travels. Upon discovering that both were Direct Disciples of their respective Sect Masters, they felt the urge to spar. The result was Guan Minghua being beaten to tears.
"Shut up and take this!" Guan Minghua roared.
The giant green tortoise burst forth with astonishing speed, its spike-covered head aiming for the Martial Rat chariot driven by Wudao Tian.
"Child’s play."
The iron rods in his hands drew a complete circle—Divine Skill: Mirror Reflection.
"You think I’m still the same as before?" Guan Minghua roared.
The tortoise’s head erupted with a dazzling green light—Divine Skill: Green Wave.
CRACK! CRACK!
The sounds of the mirror shattering and the tortoise’s head cracking resounded simultaneously.
"Hey, not bad at all," Wudao Tian complimented, looking at the two broken iron rods in his hands.
Although Guan Minghua’s tortoise head now had a fine crack, he was extremely satisfied with having broken Wudao Tian’s weapon. "Without your weapon, let’s see what other tricks you have!"
Wudao Tian revealed an enigmatic smile. "Actually, if I were my old self, who only pursued strength, I might be in a bit of trouble. But the current me is different. I choose... to restore!"
The iron rods that had fallen into the sea transformed into a black liquid. This liquid slowly climbed up the body of the Martial Rat chariot and eventually reformed the sections Wudao Tian held, revealing two intact rods once more.
"The Eternal Stone! Have you no shame?!" Guan Minghua roared furiously.
The so-called Eternal Stone is a material capable of self-repair. It doesn’t have a Grade, but it is exceptionally rare. Not even True Immortal Level or Heavenly Immortal Level materials can compare to it.
However, since it has no Grade, using it wasn’t considered cheating. The main issue was that this material was also incredibly expensive; even an ordinary True Immortal wouldn’t typically possess it.
"Green-haired turtle, prepare to die!" The Martial Rat chariot did a somersault on the spot and charged forward, excitedly swinging its two large rods.
Guan Minghua looked as if he was reliving a past nightmare. A hint of terror appeared on his face. He turned and fled, shouting, "Help! Help! He’s killing a turtle! Turtle murder!"
The Cultivators who had just climbed out of the sea looked on speechlessly at the two fleeing figures. One hesitated before asking, "Is that tortoise Guan Minghua from the Purple Sun Sacred Land?"
"It seems so. I heard those two have had a feud for a long time. Now that the brute Wudao Tian has caught him, he’s done for."
"Wait a moment... I heard that during their travels in the past, Guan Minghua was actually beaten to tears by Wudao Tian?"
"That can’t be right. If so, why would Guan Minghua provoke him intentionally? Isn’t that just asking for a beating?"
"I also heard that Guan Minghua was the one who initiated that spar in the first place."
The Cultivators fell silent. Could it be that Guan Minghua has a masochistic streak? If so, marrying a granddaughter off to him might not be such a bad idea, they secretly mused.
Guan Minghua was unaware that this small incident had completely ruined his reputation among them.
"Green-haired tortoise, slow down! Let me get intimate with you!" Wudao Tian called out in a lecherous tone.
Hearing this, Guan Minghua fled even faster. The green-haired tortoise, which originally had eight legs, suddenly sprouted another eight, accelerating yet again.
"Give up that dream! You’re only fit to eat my dust!" Guan Minghua retorted stubbornly, then focused on frantically operating his war chariot. I can’t let him catch me, or I’ll be in real trouble!
Thus, a strange phenomenon appeared on the sea: a sixteen-legged green-haired tortoise sped across the water, kicking up massive waves, relentlessly pursued by a large rat swinging two big rods.
The bizarre scene of a rat chasing a sea turtle played out once more.
「Meanwhile.」
THUD!
After blasting a True Immortal Level Fierce Beast to bits, a satisfied flush appeared on Feng Mengmeng’s face. "That was electrifying! I didn’t expect playing with this old antique to be so interesting."
Feng Mengmeng hadn’t left; she had even gained permission to use the war chariot’s cannon.
As for why, it was because Feng Mengmeng had offered Chen Jiuge an irresistible reward: a specialty of the Jiuyou Sect, the Heavenly Immortal Level spiritual material known as Jiuyou Netherworld King Stone.
This spiritual material wasn’t naturally occurring. Instead, it was formed when Golden Immortal Cultivators of the Jiuyou Sect cultivated in one location for many years. Its quantity was extremely scarce, and it possessed the ability to absorb and store Netherworld Energy.
"Alright, that’s enough shooting. There are only a little over a thousand shells, not many left. If you want to keep playing, try the Gatling gun; it has more bullets," Chen Jiuge said, taking out another controller with a smile.
"Fine then," Feng Mengmeng said, somewhat reluctantly.
The massive truck moved slowly across the sea. With no other war chariots nearby, the attacks by Sea Beasts became increasingly frequent.
The Immortal Realm Gatling gun was ready for battle.
