Chapter 573: Chapter 02: Blood Elf Magic Academy_2_3

"Alright, I’ve finished filling it out." Angel handed the form back.

Taking the form, Barnes glanced down at it: "You didn’t fill in the position you’re running for."

"I don’t know what positions are available yet. How about you fill it in for me?"

"How would I know what you want? Uh... alright, I see, you’re after the money. Let’s just go with the position with the highest subsidy." Saying that, Barnes casually filled it in for Angel: "The position with the highest subsidy is in the Vein Council, but it requires a Level Three Magic Power certification. What level was your last magic certification?"

"Level Six."

"Level Six?" Barnes froze for a moment, then suddenly tilted her head back in astonishment at Angel.

"Yes, Level Six." Angel pulled out a sunflower medal, adorned with colorful ribbons and inscribed with a "6", and pinned it to his chest.

Staring at the medal, Barnes took a while to regain her composure: "Well, the world of geniuses really isn’t something ordinary people can comprehend. I’m only Level Seven."

"You’re still higher than me."

"But I’ve already graduated, and you’ve only been here for a year. Being one level higher than you—is that something to be proud of? I’m guessing by the time you graduate you’ll have reached Level Fifteen. Your mentor, Amos Mage, is Level Eighteen. A graduate with Level Fifteen Magic Power... could directly apply for the Magic Master title. Normally, Magic Masters don’t apply until they’re over two hundred years old."

Angel looked at Barnes, then shrugged: "That’s something like seventy years down the road. Why don’t we talk about more pressing matters, like the Vein Council?"

Taking a deep breath, Barnes said with resignation: "The Vein Council handles miscellaneous issues between students. There’s a lot of work, and it’s quite demanding. That’s why the subsidies are higher."

"Alright, thanks. I’ll apply for that position."

After finishing Angel’s form, Barnes opened her notebook and pointed to a scheduled event: "Here are the time and location. Make sure to note them down yourself. As for your speech, you’ll need to write it yourself."

"What should the speech focus on? I mean, what do people normally include in theirs?"

"Tell everyone what you plan to do once elected, what skills you have, things like that. Basically, convince people to vote for you—explain why electing you is better than electing anyone else. To put it bluntly, it’s all about campaigning." As she spoke, Barnes lowered her head and started busying herself again.

"Alright, thanks." Angel nodded, then turned and left.

What is Magic Power certification?

It’s a test to measure how much magic power a mage can store. It’s considered one of the most straightforward ways to assess a mage’s abilities—brutally simple, actually. Because it’s so crude, it’s faced a lot of opposition from Blood Elf Magic Masters, since a mage’s prowess isn’t just about raw magic power; knowledge and experience matter too.

However, you have to admit that knowledge and experience are notoriously difficult to evaluate. If two mages have different areas of expertise, their knowledge and experience aren’t even comparable—not just difficult to compare, but downright impossible. Magic power, on the other hand, applies across the board to all mages.

A Level Six Magic Power certification, in the Blood Elf community, is roughly equivalent to the skill level of a mid-tier mage. Generally speaking, magic apprentices need to slog through their studies until graduation to reach that level.

So when Angel, who has only been enrolled for a year, achieves this certification, is the Magic Academy stunned?

Uh... not really.

The upper echelons of the Magic Academy were surprised, but it was more like a mild surprise—not outright "shock." The concept of "genius" only holds weight if you can go the distance; for now, Angel is just a seedling that warrants occasional attention in their eyes.

Angel’s mother was considered a "genius" when she enrolled too, although not as talented as Angel. And the outcome?

As for Angel’s mentor, Amos Mage... he didn’t even need a test to guess Angel’s level, so there’s no "shock" involved there.

Others... the Magic Academy is vast, filled with plenty of individuals living their own lives. Who has the spare time to fixate on Angel? Most of them don’t even know Angel’s magic power level or whether he’s taken the certification test at all.

But they’ll find out soon enough.
